DIY for turning your Tesla key card into a keychain or keyfob that can be put in a wetsuit for surfing and more. Learn how to transform your card into any shape and customize it for your needs.
Nicely done--the winding can be tricky. The key is to avoid folding the antenna back on itself. Folds themselves are fine, just not a complete 180-fold in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, multiple winding configurations result in this situation, so it is kinda hit-or-miss. I achieved excellent results by putting an old plastic film canister in the middle of the antenna, picking a "center point" (place your thumb against the antenna and film canister, with your thumb in the middle of a longer edge of the antenna--the longer edge based on its positioning in the card), and the twisting + winding the wire on either side of the "center point" in opposite directions. This should result in a circle configuration which can be manipulated into other circular shapes, but not completely folded over on itself (i.e., no folded semicircles).
Hold on. Clever and fun but totally unnecessary. Buy a "vertical ID card name tag badge holder" and a lanyard. Put the keycard in the holder, hook it to the lanyard, and put the lanyard around your neck. The thing sits under your wetsuit. The card gets wet, but it doesn't matter. I've been doing this for two years.
I only surf in board shorts. Only in the winter when it’s bombing, 2-3x overhead (my minimum size to even make it worth it) I always make every wave & air but fear the spit from some of my barrels could blow off the necklace.
I didn't know it was that easy to dissolve the card's plastic. Cool video!
wow, this is exactly the application I was looking for! Thanks!
enjoy the waves! been using it in my wetsuit since making this video. still working perfectly
*EDIT: Acetone is used in nail polish REMOVER (not nail polish)
Nice video ! but maybe it could be more designto model in wth resin
For sure. Please share what you make. Would love to see it
You had me, right up until you used spray paint as adhesive and waterproofing. I would love to see your version 2 fully encased in resin
haha - yeah - i feel you
Well that's fucking awesome.

my wetsuit doesnt have a pocket/holder that fits a card. if that were the case i'd just use the tesla card
Same here. The card is on a strap that goes around my neck.
