awsome tutorial really helped me out :)
This saved me. Thanks!
Super!
Thank you veeeery much, your tutorial really save me, because I'm doing postapocalyptic metro station and moss is what was missing❤️🔥
how do you add textures when you use color ramps?
why I can not find mesh to volume?
Thank you for sahring, great tutorial, keep going!
Thank you so much, really! You helped me to solve a complex situation I had with animating both an armature and the object controller by the rig.. And the object animation wasn't just exported at all, I tried everything but I managed to solve only with shape keys. You saved me!
great video! Would be nice to add the velocity into the scale to get it squashing and stretching a bit :)
that's so smart! Awesome tutorial
What's th name of the app?
I am trying to create a custom keyframe animation, then instance the animated geo, and trigger the animations (control the timing) based on the instance proximity to a controller object...is this achievable using simulation nodes?
Thankyouu sir
Can this method be used on objects like clothing e.g a shirt mesh
Greetings, thank you for your time for sharing this valuable information 💯
can we do something similar with fluid simulation? i want my fluid sims to be instanced but not using the age old method- but this method.
this video sent me down such a rabbit hole trying to get it to work when i could have just used a simple animation controller
Can you explain how to play the blend shape keys using animation controller?
@@joydeep3693 import your prefab and drag it into your scene > create a new animation controller > double click that controller to go into the editor > create an entry node and connect it to an action node > in the action node, choose the imported action for your animated mesh as the motion > on your prefab add an animator component and add the controller to it
Is there a way to apply that effect only to one or several specific vertex groups ?
God this song just slaps
Damn is there an indepth version of this tutorial? Great stuff, new sub.
Very useful tutorial, accessible, step by step, easy to follow. Thank you!
Can you tell me, how to control the speed of the animation through the script. Somehow, even at 60fps, it's still too fast in the Engine
you can choose to do something every X frame if you want: discussions.unity.com/t/how-to-make-a-code-run-in-every-10-frame-not-every-frame/132447
@@RobbieTilton Thankyou for the help.
Can you export an FBX that has both LODs AND these shape keys?
not sure. never export LODs in general
What if you want it to affect in the shape of a rectangle, for instance? That is, the empty has a non-uniform size.
hey man, at 3:47 can't we recalculate normals for the boundaries so that the blue faces be inside and the red faces be outside ?
Great vid! How are you getting them to show up as skinned meshRenderer meshes in Unity?
check your blender export settings if its not working for you. by default anything with blendshapes or bones would import into unity w a skinned mesh renderer
@@RobbieTilton I enabled all the export options for FBX under Geometry (not sure which on did it) and its now showing up as SkinnedMeshRenderer :) Thanks
wow
What if you have created the cubes outside of Geo Nodes ? e.g. you simply duplicated a lot of the default cubes. There are many scenarios where would want to use falloff like that but it's nearly impossible to get the objects as needed w/ geo nodes e.g. OpenStreetMap buildings.
you could just interpolate your weights in code instead of pushing them to 100 every frame, and skip the whole mdd baking part, which would lower the size of your files and your ram consumption significantly. Otherwise great showcase.
Is there any way to get this working with instantiated geonode objects? I have a sort of animated mesh cloud that I want to bring into unity. I baked the points into an .mdd, imported that back into blender, instantiated my objects on top of them but when I export that as a .fbx it shows up as a regular mesh in Unity, not a skinned mesh, so the animation is lost. Following the steps from the tutorial completely messes up the animation.
you can do it with a prefab and then instantiate the prefab. the prefab must have the skinned mesh though. if you're fbx export isn't working check your 3d model programs export settings. likely missing a check-box somewhere.
@@RobbieTilton I ended up figuring it out, I had to bake the MDD of the finished object and then apply the geonode modifier of the object before reimporting the MDD. Thanks for your video, it helped a ton!
Why do the colors look different when exporting the video than when exporting an image?
should be identical
my quality is really crisp on my video renders but for some reason when i move around in the video ( i recorded myself on a green screen and removed it) the video starts to stutter like it is skipping frames or some shit. Could this be because i rendered it in a smaller resolution?
it shouldn't skip/stutter regardless of resolution
@@RobbieTilton i switched my download folder to my main ssd driver instead of an external hdd and it stopped . Guess it was limited by the harddrive
Thank You Sir
Great video! However I am trying to implement this with a point cloud I have imported into blender and it doesn't work. I guess the data structure of the imported point cloud is the problem. Any suggestion on how to solve this?
great tutorial! Thanks!
if anyone is trying this in 4.0 or later the normal step is different. how I was able to achieve it was to add a Blur attribute node after the normal and bring it into the less than node set the z to 1 and control the falloff using the angle I found that an angle of around 60 seemed to work great.
Thank you! I appreciate you sharing the info for others
Thank you for this!
Nice video. Do you know any way to make the instances place/stack them self in a natural way? i.e. like rigid bodies dropped in a container?
yes - plenty of other videos on youtube to show physics sims. check cgmatter or CartesianCaramel
Is this perhaps blendable in Unity? Or is that asking for too much
what do u mean blendable? you mean as blend targets?
@@RobbieTilton Well tbh I don’t know the specifics of how it works, but Unity can play two animations at once, or blend into one another with state transitions. I thought it was dependent on bone blending, since it would cost if it blends all vertices themselves.
great video
very clever, thank you for sharing!
What about for things like a fire or galaxy animated texture?
Im currently trying to do this all within geometry nodes using simulation nodes and distance or ray tracing but cannot figure it out lol, got them to inflate and they do interact with each other but they seem to interact as a whole and only from the centers of the balloons, not sure what im doing wrong
So finally figured out a method, posted a short clip to my alt account, pretty happy with how it turned out without a cloth sim and entirely in geometry nodes czcams.com/video/phO2ws4WjnU/video.htmlsi=ZYKKUXmsAaYK_t1K
i tried doing this and it did not work for me. With newer versions of blender, you cant follow the tutorial. Learning nods is bad enough without things consistantly changing. 😪
fair. i should remake this for the latest version.
This was awesome! Was able to follow without any trouble. The only thing I struggle with is rendering the butterflies with other environment in cycles instead of eevve 🥲 because in cycles if I put glare, it blooms everywhere and I wanted it to bloom only in butterflies. Any suggestions? It would be great help. Thankyou
glad you enjoyed the video. for the cycles bloom you can try to change your glare threshold and emission numbers until you find the right balance
Amazing!
it's "fre-nell", not "frez-null"
Some amazing tips in here 👍

thanks, for different purpose but i needed this camera-normal node setup =)
