- The best treatment for a pinched neck nerve (causing shoulder pain, arm pain, rhomboid pain, or pins and needles or numbness in the hand) involves 3 key motions: retraction, traction & lateral flexion. These movements give the greatest relief from ‘cervical radiculopathy’. So, here are the best pinched nerve exercises.

5:23 Posture is the key!
THINGS TO AVOID. IMPORTANT!!
Looking at your phone in a flexed position on the sofa, or in bed, is THE most common cause of nerve pain down the arm. So, lift your phone to a higher position when you sit, and lie on your side to look at devices in bed (with your phone on the pillow next to you).
Exercises for a pinched neck nerve that are best to avoid: Try not to look up too much when you have a pinched nerve causing arm pain, as this will compress the nerve more. And avoid exercises where you lean towards the painful arm.
CENTRALISATION
You’ll know you’re improving if the numbness, pins and needles or pain down the arm (or upper back pain) starts to recede towards the base of the neck.
WARNING SIGNS
If you start to get prolonged numbness in the arm or hand, or any muscle weakness in the arm or hand… go straight to your doctor.

I have been suffering from neck, arm, and shoulder pain for 3 months. I've been to a chiropractor, physical therapist, and neurologist. However, they couldn't figure out what was wrong and I only got temporary relief. after 2 days of watching your videos, my pain has greatly decreased and my strength has returned to my arm. Thank you for these videos.
Awesome, TMN! Thanks so much for sharing.
There are various causes for this. Some more serious than others. Look into the many causes for this incase it comes back.
Same problem with me
I'm going through the exact same thing. Going on a week now. I woke up like this. So strange. Worse pain I've ever felt in my life.
This makes me very excited! I've been looking for something to help for ages...
I just slept my second night completely pain free on my shoulder after almost 3 months not sleeping well. Thanks to your exercises. I even had a dream last night. This means so much to be able to sleep. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing
In one try, this improved pain that I've had for years! Even after seeing PT and trying so many other things. I'm so happy I could cry. Thank you so much for making these videos!!😊
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
I love reading comments like this. When you get relieved from the long term pain, it feels like being reborn again, it's like getting back once lost life.
WOOOOOOOW! PRAISE THE LORD FOR THAT! 😳🙌🏾😊
Yeah right
@@saintofgod1244 No, just praise Stefan for helping us out. Naughty lord for inflicting pain on us.
Wow this fixed me. It was a pinched nerve. The last few days I did Physio with all the electrical muscle machines and also did acupuncture. But your exercises did more to relieve my pain than all those sessions. Thank you! You’re a gift for making this video for me and millions of pain sufferers.
You're very welcome! Thanks for the lovely comment! 🙏🙏🙏
I was at the point of turning my whole body just to look to the right. I just completed these exercises tonight and it's the first time I've felt relief in over 2 years. I cannot express how thankful I am to you. ❤
So great to hear!! Thanks for sharing. Makes my day
Gotta try. My shoulder blades feel tucked under my ribs.
@@josiahwilliams1441 I'm doing all his other exercises now that I can move my neck to the right again. The whole upper right side of my body was tight and achy from not moving it correctly for 2 years. It's amazing how well these exercises work.
How is it going 9 months later?
@@TheKolen2434 Still going well. Every now and then I have to stretch it out (I think it's the way I sleep that pinches it) but overall, no more pain. 🙂
I love your videos, because the static index is so low - just the indications and exercises, not a lot of extra talk and presentation. Thank you
Thanks Beavis. I try my best to cut down on fluff. Hate fluff
I have not been able to sleep for days and this video just came across my feed without even searching and I have relief right now. First time I’ve had blood flow in my arm in days. Whoever made this thank you so much words can’t describe
Glad to hear it's helping!
Thank you for helping people. Takes a special kind of being to help others without payment. Appreciated.
A pleasure, Pablo!
Whoever comes up with these exercises is a genius.
Lol. Exercise geeks & yoga gurus mainly. The first is mine, the rest variations I've seen over the years and either incorporated or varied over the years. My wife often laughs at me cos it'll be a Saturday night and I'll be on the floor of the lounge room, on my mat, trying new exercises while other people are out at dinner or bars. ;)
These are things I've done intuitively with my chronic pain but it's great having it explained and performed to understand what's going on. Thank you!
Amazing how often the body seems to know what to do.
Same. It's like your body knows but you need some guidance.
Same
Thank you so much for these exercises. The best ever. I've had neck, arm and thoracic outlet syndrom pain for years. In an instant I feel great and pain free!
Fantastic!! 🙌 Happy to help
Pain completely gone?
I have been watching so many videos and visiting doctors etc. but this video exactly is addressing all my more acute problems and gives me new hope getting ahead of my neck issues. I can feel all of those described pains and motions that there is something wrong. And the extra information is amazing. Just seen this video in my start page and I’m so happy I clicked on it!

Thankyou for this! I've had the same nagging neck pain every waking moment for almost 15 years. It's not gone yet, I've only just done my first session of these exercises but I feel a huge relief from the pain that I haven't felt for as long as I can remember. I honestly feel like a totally new person, it's amazing ❤️
So great to hear! Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm actually doing a new video this week with what I think are the very best exercises for this area, so check that out too!

Had shoulder pains for months. Excercise 2 really helped instantly. My shoulder has not relaxed like this for months.
Thank you
Fabulous to hear! Thanks for sharing
I don't know how you did this is by far the most helpful video I had seen in 200 years. Thank you for curing my pain. Nothing helped until these amazing exercises and activities.
Fantastic to hear!! 200 years! Wow 😂
For years, I thought my midshoulder ached on the left because of my bra strap. I was totally wrong! This gave me instant relief, and nowI am on to your posture exercises. Thank you!
Great! The posture exercises will help too. Good on you!
It’s a miracle! .. that your videos popped up in my feed. And that as of recent I’ve been experiencing pinched nerves/pain in my neck, shoulder blade , shoulder areas. I have a feeling your videos are going to really help with a lot of issues I’ve had for years on the entire right side of my body. Thanks for helping us ! Ryan
Glad to help, Ryan!
Subbed after the first stretch. You’re a life life saver! Thank you!
Yeeehar!
Wow! Stretched my Rhomboid while training lockoff pullups for climbing and have had neck/shoulder pain as a result for several months now off and on, exercise 2 fixed my problem immediately! Thank you!
Wahoooo!!! Well done!
came to comment exactly that. I have a chronic pain since the 2007 year's eve (because I was in copacabana walking for 9 hours without sitting at all) and this video is the only one that has exercises that really alleviate the pain.
I just stretched as instructed a few minutes ago. The pain completely gone. I don't know how long it will last though. But still.
For 15 years I had no idea that this was the problem I had! I almost fainted trying the The 2nd exercise. Wow, I finally know what’s wrong with me. May Allah reward you Doc.
Thanks. Glad it helped!
But please start gently, don't do any exercises that hurt, and see your doctor if it persists!
Thank you very, very much indeed! I was about to spend a lot of money and go to physical therapy. I have been suffering from neck and shoulder pain for at least 5 years. When I saw your video, I wanted to try the exercises you gave. The result is a tremendous improvement from day one! I immediately canceled my appointment and continued the exercises every day. Within a week, I was relieved of 90% of my pain. You guarantee your place in heaven with these videos :)
So great to hear!!! Wonderful! Cheers!!
I had debilitating IBC-C and pain in my back for YEARS. Countless doctors couldn't find anything wrong. After doing these I found instant relief. Thank you!
Fabulous!! So glad to hear it, Kyle!
Thank you for including things to avoid that can cause it
These exercises WORK. Have been dealing with severe pain from what I believe is a pinched radial nerve. On my second day of doing them, and I haven't needed to take an anti inflammatory or ibuprofen today because the pain has decreased. My grip strength has also increased slightly, which tells me these movements are relieving some of the pressure on the nerve. A sincere thank you for sharing these!
Thank you so much! I’m feeling so much better now. I do have neck and shoulder issues for such a long time and today was a really bad day. After doing your exercises I feel so relieved! Thank you!
Sounds great! Well done ✅

Double bonus. So glad to hear! Thanks for sharing!!
dude, you are amazing, you diagnosed my problem I had for few weeks already and gave a solution for it, just after 1st round I can feel the difference, exercise on the knees itself was a game changer for me
Great to hear, Michal! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I swear I've been trying to solve this issue since almost 9 years and I'm now 24. Nobody made a video like this in all this time. Tried physiotherapists, osteopathists etc., And in the meantime the pain increased along with the zones affected.

happy to help!
I am amazed. I have notfelt this much relief in years. Thank you for your kindness in sharing this information.
How wonderful! An absolute pleasure, Hootyhoo.
About 25 years ago I had a pinched nerve in my neck so bad that I was losing grip strength in my left hand. While the exercises prescribed by my PT were helpful, the best thing he did for me was to question me about my sleeping position. We figured out that I was often laying on my side but slightly rolled over to the front. This forced my head back, hyperextending my neck and pinching the nerve. He taught me to train myself to sleep on my back with 2 or 3 pillows to keep my chin tucked in. I haven't had any neck/shoulder/nerve issues since.
👍 amazingly similar to what I advise on this video...
czcams.com/video/hm3Sql0qc-4/video.html
That helped me instantly!!! A couple days ago, I stained neck muscles throwing a couch at the dump. Massive nerve pain set in about 12 hours later. Much better after 1 day but still lingering nerve pain and achy neck muscles on the mend. These exercises helped me immensely!!! Thank you!!!
Throwing a couch! No wonder it was sore! Glad the exercises helped Robert
Thank you for your thorough explanation and care. I loved watching every single second of it
What a lovely comment! Thank you
Thank you for your amazing help, explanation and excercises!

I've been suffering from a weird pain in my upper back for 2 years now. I tried everything and even the doctors said that everything looks normal but it isn't. And couple of months ago it developed into neck/shoulderblade pain. And this video helped me get some kind of relief. Thank you

This looks like every position in which I feel better for a while. Awesome and really helpful. I am also diagnosed with a degenerative disc disorder c6-c7 spinal segment, but feel like it is getting better with these. Thank you
Those joints often degenerate, but usually the cause is related more to the facet restriction that often comes with degeneration. So these exercises are a good chance to help you.
Man I'm glad I found your page. Been battling this for 5 years
Hope it helps Michael!
Didn’t say anything to anyone got this same pain today and this video for the first time ever was in my feed
😳🫣
This helped improve my pain by at least 80% in only a week of the exercises. I have long term problem due to lifting heavy groceries and also cause I was meant to be left-handed but I use my right hand and I write a lot. I stared getting severe pain in hands 3 years ago and only got diagnosed with pinched nerves in C5 and C6 one year ago but haven't done physio. Thanks so much for these exercises. As I have a problem both sides of the cervical nerves I didn't know which side to do exercise 2, but decided to just go one side and it's working well.
Awesome Regina, thanks for sharing!!
I started experiencing relief while still going through the exercises! These vertebrae has been a problem for many, many years, sometimes I have to take up to eight pain tablets a day just to be able to function, and sometimes this pain stays for days. And, while it took me the time to write this message, after completing a test run of the exercises, I already experience relief! Thank you for this information and demonstration! I am sure I will be less fuzzy-brained without the pain killers!
Sounds very promising!

I have had chronic neck pain for years and I’ve been doing neck retractions everyday (work great). But lately the pain ran down my neck and arm. I just watched this video twice and did two exercises and I feel 50% better I’m going to do the rest of the video now.
Great! Good on you. Thanks for sharing!
Too bad doctors are so afraid of incorporating techniques such as these from a Chiropractor. They'd rather throw meds at you.
Five years of neck pain and a chiro, physiotherapist nor a massage therapist suggested anything like this. Helped immediately. This video has a 25% like:view ratio, which is huge
25% eh? Interesting. I didn't know that. Thanks.
Glad the exercises helped. I have a few videos on this area so maybe check them out. Hopefully you can sort it out completely once and for all.

Wonderful!
Ive had many spine problem that ive been getting worked on at my chiropractor. This is the last part where It hasn't really fixed yet, this is great for me until my chiropractor can fully straighten me out. Thank you! I think I got this problem from looking down at my phone all the time and propping my head up in bed to watch videos before I go to sleep everyday.
Good luck with it Cameron. I think you're right about the cause of it in your case
Me too about watching videos
I got more information from this video than I have over ten years visiting the NHS. Thank you so so much

Ha! Thanks man. What kind of cartoon character do you think I should I do?
Didn’t work for me last night but I’ll keep trying
I've been trying to stretch the front of my neck for a while now (its been tense and painful for a year now), and the stretch in exercise two hits this spot exactly! I'll come back in a week or two with an update.
Sounds like either the sternocleidomastoid muscle, or the scalenes. This should help. Do a bit each day but not too much at any one time. Stick with it
Same here, that excercise saved me literally. At the start I couldnt even lean a bit to the side how tight it was. Now I can lean and turn my head while feeling relief.
2 months :D Got an update?
@@user-zu1ix3yq2w So as for all serious injuries, you will never progress really fast, but I can say with certainty that the pain/tension has really gotten a lot better in the past few months (was mostly stagnating before, not getting noticeably better or worse). Especially in the areas that the exercises targeted.
I've been doing them every night for at least 6/7 days a week if not 7/7. I've also been doing a lot of weight lifting on the side. Notably for the shoulders and upper back + a bit of weight training directly with my neck (so the progress might not only be from these stretches).
I think that 6 months to a year from now my neck/back should be back to normal. The initial injury was in early 2020, and I started therapy towards the end of 2020, really crazy the amount of time it takes sometimes to fix things...
@@GPUGambon I'm also suffering bro and its been 6 months 😢 its still thier il have taken medications therapys doing exercises its not going im fed up of this
Your awesome! I have had this issue for about 6 months and this video popped up in my feed. Long story short…after doing the first stretch you demonstrated I felt immediate relief! Excercise number 2 helped me with the constant pains lasting several months. And excercise number one helped me realize whats the actual problem and what is it causing so I can avoid it and focus on better posture. Thank you very much.

Can I releaf pain permanently from excersizes. I am srilanka
Great video. My C5 thru C7 has deteriorated to the point of needing surgery. I needed these exercises to alleviate the pain in the interim. Thanks.
This was excellent thankyou. What's freaked me out is CZcams recommending it after I pulled my back/neck today but haven't searched anything on the Internet about it at all!
It's your lucky day I guess!
just discovered your videos. they are very helpful. there's a lot of other videos out there which help to some degree but not like these. finding a good doctor/practitioner where I live is difficult so I try to do a lot myself.
I liked the first exercise best as well as the 4th one.
I sometimes experience nerve pain going from the collar bone to my left chest and also left arm. sometimes also on the right. that used to be from the back (my scapula) to the left chest but I managed to get that sorted. my heart's also already been checked (even did a catheter), heart function's fine, no blockages. so I assume it's a nerve issue.
would it be possible to do a video on that?
anyway, thank you for putting out these videos. much appreciated!
Pain that goes from the collar bone to the chest usually comes from a restricted clavicle. The most common cause of that is a restricted Sternoclavicular joint. I have two videos on that (because it causes AC joint pain too) so try those exercises if you can.
czcams.com/video/FCBSrOTLUI8/video.html
czcams.com/video/XYoW_ilxDbY/video.html
ANother possibilty is tight scalenes muscles. I don't have a video on that yet but I'm sure you can find something on CZcams for that. Exercise 2 of this video will probably help with that too.
Good luck. And thanks for your kind words.
Instant pain relief after just the first exercise . The area in my upper back is still sore, but no pain. Thanks alot
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing too
Very good advice!
OMG! I wish I’d seen this video 6 months ago. I had countless physio sessions and they never pinpointed the cause. I went to see a neurosurgeon and had an MRI scan which found an osteophyte bar causing the nerve pain and was on lots of pain relieving medication which severely messed with me. These exercises cured me within days! Thank you so much!!!! ❤❤❤
Awesome!!
Loved the content of the video! I'd absolutely love an additional "practice" accompanying these theory videos, where you actually do those exercises with us counting the time and repeats like in a yoga/exercise video. Would be so much easier to do and would watch it repeatedly during the exercise
Thanks for the feedback. I REALLY appreciate this kind of feedback.
It's a good idea. Someone else requested the same, so I'll definitely do something like that. I just need to decide which videos a real time video would be good for
@@BodyFixExercises Also, a thing that might be worth a consider, is that smart watches are becoming so common these days, even my 88 year old father bought one this year. Some of them include software (like google fit) that actually allow you to schedule complete exercise packages and the watch will remind schedule it and guide you through with sound and video.
Might be worth investigating if it is for you to reach a new, paying, audience
Interesting! Thanks very much for your thoughts! (I'm planning the first follow along video right now actually. Cheers!)
you know you made it in the pain world when your body gives up on the warning systems and switches over to plain numb hellfire
🔥👹😬
This is exactly my problem, I've been dealing with it for years. I've been to PT, I've been to a nerve specialist, I've had an MRI, I've had the needles and electric pulse test, the works! Been told its carpal tunnel and that I need a surgery. I refused, because I know its not. No one has connected the permanent pain in my rhomboid with the pins and needles down my arm. Just doing these movements while watching the video feels a whole lot better. I'm going to start this regimen and report back. Thank you!!
Good luck with it!
Great info, thanks
I have been having this shoulder blade pain since last year and in the past few weeks it evolved into a sharper pain. I've tried all sorts of stretching or gun massages but the pain just kept lingering. Then i tried your exercises today (which are similar to the stretches i usually do, so was naturally skeptical) and surprisingly, it relieved the sharp pain immediately, esp with exercises 1 and 3. There's still pain for sure, but that instant sharp pain when i do a cow position was gone, now its more of a soreness. I will continue this exercises daily and really hope it will finally eliminate this year long pain i have been having. Thank you for the straightforward and useful advices!
So glad it helped! I have another video out tomorrow with my favourite exercises for this area. That might help too

Sensational!!! Thanks for the lovely comment and so glad it helped!
Awesome! immediate decrease in pain just after a few repetiotions. Thank you so much!
I have been suffering from constant tension in my sholderblades, shoulders and neck for 1.5years now. It's like these nots, especially somewhere under my shoulder blade, and it always makes me want to crack my neck or back for a little relief. It began after I fell really hard directly on my right shoulder, incidentally hitting the right bottom back side of my head against concrete. I experienced torturous pain for 3 months, and over the following time the pain became less consistent, but still present during most night, or whenever I would sit for longer periods of time at my desk, or after working out my upper back. I went to hospitals and physiotherapists, but not once did anyone say anything about my neck. "Your shoulder is fine, nothing is broken, no tears, you are good" HOW ?? I AM IN PAIN.
I cant believe it took me s long to see your videos and realize it was my neck all along. I made an appointment with a chiropractor in a couple of days, to avoid self-diagnosing and finally hear the truth from a professional. I just did the 2nd exercise from the video for the first time, and i don't know if it's because I'm still on a painkiller (which, btw, painkillers don't help that much with that pain, it makes it just a little more tolerable) but i don't feel the tension right now. I can cry, I am very grateful for people like you who share this on the internet and give us a chance to feel human again. Thank you.
What a great asset you are to the CZcams channel. I have watched many of your videos which have helped me enormously. I have just bought a massage gun so hopefully you can show us in your next video what massage techniques and trigger points our partner can work on while using it on our upper and lower back.
I have videos on how to do those areas with a massage machine by yourself. A partner can do the same thing. 👍
Thanks Doctor Becker, your illustration for the exercise movement is very easy to understand! I am copying the moves already!!
