Good soup! I made your recipe last night and it didn't disappoint .
Oh, I'm so glad! It was one of my favorites growing up! Thanks for letting me know!

Now I could go for a big bowl of that !
It's a great comfort food soup!
I might have to make this soon looks so good
It's fabulous!
This sounds great I will definitely try this love tater soup and smoked sausage.
It's delicious! Thank you!
I’m cooking this now!

@@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot My entire family loved it especially my 6’4” 300 pound Dad. I had to take the soup pot away from him😂
Now this would be great as a winter food! Will definitely be using this recipe on the boat!! Now I am hungry! 🤓🤓🤓
Thanks, Saucy! When do you go back?

WOW.....Not my Mom's Potato soup! Excellent Helga!
It's very different from the PA Dutch version, too. That's not bad. I just like my Mom's better, LOL.
That looks like a great twist on Potato soup. Not your average "loaded potato" version.
Thank you, simple but satisfying!
Helga's Pennsylvania Cooking I have a video for an instant pot Filipino beef shank soup that is the same way. Really simple but very satisfying.
That sounds delicious!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. YOUR A GREAT COOK. SWAMP HUGS FROM LOUISIANA.
Thanks very much!
Thanks very much!
i love you making traditional family recipes ! thanks for sharing this !
Thanks, Kyle!
Hi Helga, I love cream of potato soup I love kielbasa I know I would love that so delicious looking.
Thanks, Rick!
Hi Helga, Me again:
I don't eat meat, but this does look great. I prefer my Potato soup with just Potatoes, and Rivals. Thanks. Always surprising to see what Childhood favorite of mine, you'll come up with next. Thank you again.
God bless:
Stoney
I've seen it made that way also, more the PA Dutch way. My dad did not like potatoes and rivels or other doughy things together, said it was too much starch, LOL.
it is so hard to beat Mom's recipes..but Granny's are good too, especially if it is what they made you as a child growing up.. I like to make my old favorites when she goes away,, Thank you for the great recipe, Helga
Thanks, Sean, it's not just the good food but the good memories attached!
Momma has all the best recipes
..Cheers!!! What a treat thanks 😁
Ha, she has some great ones for sure! Thanks, Grant!
You had me as soon as you said your mom’s recipe. Looks amazing, can’t wait to make it! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
You had me at creamy potato soup, then you added the smoked kielbasa, then suddenly I was thinking of nothing else. Great soup, the peas were a little different for me, but I think they could work. Always ready for good soups. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎. Happy Halloween 😈.
Thank you! Give it a shot, I love the peas in it, but I love peas, LOL!
Wow that looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Love the pinky red poatoes.
I'm with you on the soups. Yes, please.
Been winter here the last few days.
Love that you made the soup the way your mom did.
That's a good feeling. Happy Sunday and boogie boogie.
Yes, winter will really be hear Friday, possibility of that four letter word! Snow!
That looked awesome. If mom makes it, it's gotta be good. Thanks for sharing that recipe Helga.
Thanks, Phil! Our mom's made some of the best stuff!
Thank you for sharing your mom's recipe. I have never seen potato soup with peas or keilbasa. Looks good. Enjoy the day! Catherine
I think she made just the way she liked and I love it that way! Thank you!
When your a meat and potatoes guy this soup is sure to be a hit!
Yes, it hits all the right notes!
That looks fantastic, Helga!
Thanks Jacqui!
Ohhhh, yes! Homemade potato soup! Nothing better on a cold, damp day! I just say, I never heard of putting peas in it, but how could you go wrong? I'd be fressing out of the pot all day too lol! Great job, Helga! Thanks for sharing! Take care and God bless!
Thanks so much! My mom did that a lot, adding peas to things so we had a green veggie in it, LOL. We also loved peas. It does bring color and dimension in!
Helga, what kind of cream do you use in this soup? Is it the thicker whipping cream or the thinner cream that is used in the coffee? We have both types here in Canada and Im not sure which one you used as it just says light cream on the container.
WE call it light cream or half and half. Heavy whipping cream is too heavy, lol. You can use whole milk, but you may need to thicken it a bit with flour and it won;t be quite as rich or creamy. Do you live in the part of Canada that your milk comes in a bag? (We Americans are fascinated by this concept, LOL.)
@@PennsylvaniacookingBlogspot Why yes I do have my milk in bags!! Im an Australian living in Canada and I still, after years and years think its bizarre.
I'd love to master potato soup; my mom set the bar high! Looks like you're in her league, Helga! : )
Just follow this, it should be good!
Damn Helga. That looked great
Thank you!
Oh man...now I want potato soup...😂😂😂...I’m on that See-Food diet...🤦♀️😂🌷🚍
LOL, I LOVE that diet!
I’d love to know where you get your kielbasa or do you do it yourself?
We did in years gone by but now we take our venison up to Thompson's. They also do the venison dogs etc. They have their prices listed on their FB page--facebook.com/pg/thompsonpacking/posts/?ref=page_internal
Darn, they aren’t open on the weekends. It’s hard for me to get up there on a week day. Maybe I can get a family member to get me some. Thanks for the info! I’ve been watching your videos for a while. I was drawn in by the PA Dutch cooking not realizing you’re from the same area I grew up.
Yup, raised in the valley by PPL in Washingtonville, now live on the other side of the river towards Knoebels! Hope you can work it, their stuff is fantastic!
BTW-- regular pork kielbasa and kielbasa loaf, I get that at Masser's Meat Market in Paxinos. facebook.com/pages/Massers-Farm-Market/229262413784037 I think they'll ship as well.
I’m from the Millville/Unityville area! We had a Benton address but were in Millville School District. My brother lives out by Knoebels too! Small world. I was on the West Coast but moved back a couple years ago. I landed south of Harrisburg though. I’ll give the other one a try. I’ve had some fresh from around my area but it doesn’t taste like what I’m use to. Thanks for all the info!
Oh my.... you had me at "venison" 😉
LOL, you're so easy!
Trade the venison for traditional kielbasa and I'll go for it. I don't like any type of wild game meats.
Seems like a lot of her recipes would be very fattening! That's why it's good cooking but not sure I will follow her.
Thank you! This is cooking of the region, where it's predominately outdoors people and farm families that needed cheap good stick to your ribs meals to get through all the work. Many of us still are. You don't sit down and eat a whole pan by yourself. I'm usually lucky if I get one helping myself. There are light versions, for as often as we eat them, I'm not giving that up. You lose a lot of flavor. Everything in moderation. If you have a desk job and don't exercise than it may be more of an issue. This not a diet channel although I've cooked vegetarian and gluten free along with keto. There are other channels that are suited for that if you prefer.
