He went there for a feast (mostly for Raphtalia) and the money. He had no way of knowing that he would be challenged to an uneven and unfair fight. Malty only wanted him to suffer more. She didn't give a fig that Raphtalia was enslaved. Besides, Naofumi had a better bond with his 'slave' than any of the others did with people who wanted to be with them
