- One of our last and latest updates on the Mossberg JM Pro... Poor customer service DOES NOT make a customer want to buy more of your product, @MossbergCorp !
Make sure you smash that like and subscribe button and make sure you mentioned your experience down below if you have one with @MossbergCorp
Sorry to hear that you have had these problems. I have four different 940 variants, including one that I use for Sporting Clays, and have yet to have any problems that wasn't ammo related. Hopefully you will get the problems resolved soon.
Tube follower, ejector and safety all broke and once I paid to ship it to Mossberg they fixed all 3
The only 940 jm pro that does 1500+ rds without failure is Jerry Miculek and Lena's 940.
Mine suffers the failure you have but no broken parts. It does it when it gets dirty after around 400 rds. Customer service told me its because im using fiocchi lol. Their main salesmen Jerry exclusively uses low power fiocchi and brags about not cleaning it. It fails with other ammo too, i just am lazy to call them back ugh.
Haha that’s funny but true hurricanepaul1
Good one, but I doubt they ever shoot that many rounds between cleanings. I also doubt any Mossberg they shoot is anything like the one you buy off the shelf.
That’s probably a fact
I have had similar problems with my 940 Pro Tactical.
It is on its third trip back to Mossberg to be fixed.
The irony is that all of the videos I watched as a result of a search prior to my purchase showed nothing but positive reviews. Now that I’ve posted my own videos of malfunctions, the algorithm is suggesting more and more problem videos like yours.
Yeah we don’t get paid by anyone we speak the facts. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I can relate to you so much when you say that you did so much research prior to buying the gun and now I’m starting to see a bunch of negative reviews about it. I was experiencing misfires as well as cycling issues. I have cleaned it and have not went back to try and fire it, but seeing all of these comments and videos of people, having issues with them sucks because I hope mine doesn’t have similar issues but honestly, I probably wouldn’t have bought this gun if I had seen these because now I’m experiencing similar issues and I would’ve rather not deal with the headache altogether. when I purchase my guns I put reliability above anything else regardless of price and name I want to know that my gun is gonna function when I go to use itI have also shot about 150 shells so I’ve kind of been very lenient towards it’s a newer gun and it’s still breaking in. However, will definitely keep up with these issues.
Ours ran flawlessly for slightly over 800 rounds and then things went south. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Bummer about poor customer service! You are a trooper. Keep up the good work sir!
We are committed to getting it to 1500 lol. Thanks for watching
Dang, this sucks.. I’ve been on the fence between the940 and the 1301, I have a loyalty to Mossberg ,but bad customer service makes it easy to change my mind
Yeah I can understand a faulty product to an extent but ultimately how they respond is the deal breaker or deal maker for me
1301 is better even without the customer service issue.
Fuck I just bought the Mossberg 940 tactical! Was 1200$ the 1301 would of came out to 2k 😢
It’s been a good shotgun up to over 800 rounds over a year without cleaning is great. The ejector, safety and mag follower had issues all easy fixes but Mossberg didn’t make it easy as the should have even with the gun being less than a year old. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I owned one of these and it ran great. For a while. Then it began stove piping. I sent it back to Mossberg at my expense. When I got it back, it still stovepiped. I traded it in on a Benelli M2 and haven't looked back. Shame because I loved the way the gun felt and handled. I also own a Maverick 88. Tremendous gun.
I’ve vowed to never buy another Mossberg in my life because of there customer service experience
@@GSquaredTactical Can't say that I blame you, but the Maverick 88 is hard to beat.
I have a Maverick 88 it’s been good but will be my last one
Thanks for these videos.
Yes sir and thanks for watching. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I was just looking at one today and came home to do research and now I will go another route another company to want to buy a gun if I’m going to get treated like that
It was disappointing for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
My problems started with the first round. Mine just wouldn't reliably feed and ejection was weak. Bolt and carrier were hanging up and showing heavy wear in a few spots with less than 100 rounds. Didn't want to pay to ship it back, or wait and hope that the problems were corrected by Missberg, so I polished the problem areas until I got it functioning smoothly. Runs great now, but I won't be bragging on it nor recommending the 940 "Pro" to anyone. Garbage QC from the factory. Can't speak on customer "service," as I based my decision to repair it myself on no need for parts (yet) and other people's bad experiences.
I’m saddened by our experience. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Your lucky mine never fires a single round and it’s broke. I just bought the 940 today. It has issue right out of the box. Hunk of junk! The charging handle gets stuck. Mossberg told me to drop trigger out. Yea that reset charging handle but it stick again soon as you pull handle back. They said to send it to them. It never functioned and never fired it. To me that doesn’t cut it. Send someone defective item you should just replace it imo.
Absolutely I can’t believe the store didn’t catch it. It’s a 1k paper weight at best. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I am assuming you already took care of this, however, it is your gun and you can send it directly to them and they can send it back to you. You would only have to use a FFL if they send you a new gun with a new serial number. I will look for the follow up. I am very interested in getting the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical. Good customer service is very important. Thank you for the video.
Yeah, I just sent it through my FFL so that it would go back there because I am rarely home throughout the day and there would need to be a signature to receive it back and the FFL could do that and hold it for me when it was convenient for me to come in. They did replace a broken mag tube, safety and ejector, but they did not put anything in the box as far as a work order indicating they done that I could just tell they did pissed me off so bad. I just cleaned it up fired a box of 25 through it without issue and sold it for $800 and felt blessed to get that much out of it. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
Also I don’t see how not cleaning would cause a broken extractor. Looks like poor heat treating or just poor cast metal maybe is it NIM?
100% it’s MIM thanks i’m watching it for comment again please be sure to subscribe if you have not already
When I had to send mine in I contacted them online and was sent prepaid postage. It was a pleasant and smooth process.
I wished that was the case for me but not so lucky

I have a 940 pro field model. I have close the 15k rounds through it in the past 2 years. I have replaced 3 charging handles and 3 extractors. The link which is the part attached to the bolt that goes into the recoil spring also broke just a few weeks ago. I only used Mossberg customer service for the first extractor. I just keep a few on hand now from Midwest Gun Works. They sre the same one the 930's use.
Thanks for the info if I would have known I would have bought the 930 one for sure but dang my tube follower broke and the safety broke. I could find parts those parts anywhere so I had to send it back. I’ve since sold it because of the horrible experience. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
That does suck. I just bought the 940 pro tactical. Lots of failures to extract so far but I've only ran about 70 rounds of Slugs through it. Im hoping it gets more reliable. I may clean it as well, f that 1300 round count before cleaning
Haha funny thing is ours never gave one single issue like zero until parts broke at 800 plus rounds. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Shame i was literally gonna buy this or a rainier arms ultra barrel. I guess its the barrel. Thank you so much for an honest review. Too many sponsered fake reviews on this gun.
Yeah it done great up till 825 rounds or so and just started falling apart. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I have 2 of the 940's but they have the new style bolt release and the new style safety on them. They both seem to run perfectly. I am a professional gunsmith and it looks to me like the extractors are a little tight on some of these guns which can lead to jamming on insertion of the new shell and eventually could cause the hook to break off. A little polishing on the appropriate surfaces of the extractor itself should allow shells to better slip past the extractor and into place on the bolt. The extractor doesn't actually extract on these guns (except for unfired shells) recoil simply pushes the case out. The extractors job is to hold the case on the bolt face in order to strike the ejector during the cycle.
Yeah the safety broke the mag tube follower broke and the ejector broke. Th le gun was bought it January 2023 do I’m not sure about new stuff
Hope you consider doing the same torture test with Winchester sx4…they have both the field model and tactical model (came out in 2024)
Will look into them thanks
So what happened next? Did they fix the gun?
The gun was repaired
Great video thank you. I have the same gun snd love it. What was the actual process and cost to have the gun repaired? @@GSquaredTactical
I was looking at either the 940 Tactical or the Beretta A300 Patrol (or 1301 if I really feel spend-y) but it seems my search is narrowing. Mossberg pump guns are pretty solid (I love my 590A1) but the more I look into semiauto shotguns, the more I'm convinced I'll end up getting a Beretta or Benelli. I know some swear on the Turkish guns but they're too inconsistent.
1000% get the Beretta 1301 or A300 all day. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Love my 940 pro w red dot. I have it, ltt 1301(on the way) and a a300 ultima patrol (still haven't shot it). I was thinking about getting the jm pro simply because they're on sale. But after this video I think imma just be happy with what I have. 👎
Unfortunately we can’t always put as many rounds through these reviews as we would like but one thing is for sure, we are happy to have been able to with this shotgun because it revealed problems we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Sometimes a content heart is a happy heart lol. Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
Finally a real review about this shootgun
Always brother always
All of my Mossbergs are 590s. Never had any reason to contact them. That's totally the wrong way to do customer service
Absolutely it is. Thanks for watching
I have a JM Pro with about 1000 rounds through it. Any weapon that you shoot a lot requires maintenance. Cleaning and lubricants are the key to long life of any firearm. I have had 2 pumps, 2 semiautomatic shotguns. Mossberg mostly and reliable.
They mostly are, we were just trying to go with and trial what the manufacturer says these can do! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t already
I have one. Haven't fired a single round through it, still in box. My opinion on that 1500 round cleaning thing they brag about is like companies bragging about not changing the synthetic oil in your vehicle for 7K - 10K miles or more. I "properly" clean all my fire arms after the range and I change my synthetic oil every 5K miles. I'm not out to prove any manufacturer wrong or challenge their claims because in the end, I'm the one that will pay for a failure with my money, time and frustration. Thinking seriously about trading it now for nice AK or AR...
Totally would because we aren’t even close to the only ones with issues. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already.
Well i guess i fucked up ...i just bought a jm pro. Thanks for the video
Nah it’s a really good shooter and at days end it ran some of the cheapest ammo we had for over 800 rounds without issue and the issues it did have was easy fixes it’s just customer service sucked and parts aren’t available for it for some stupid reason so you are forced to send it back to them. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
@GSquaredTactical ok well I'll just buy other brands just in case, but thanks. I will subscribe
Is there any update to this saga?
Sent the gun back at my expense they changed mag tube follower (broke), safety (broke) and ejector also broke. They didn’t indicate that with documentation in the box but they replaced those items. The whole customer service experience pissed me off so bad I cleaned it, tested it with 25 round box. It done fine I sold it for $800 and feel blessed to have gotten $800 out of it. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
@GSquaredTactical thanks for the update. Subscribed.
Ty sir
I want to like these but when I compete in practical shotgun these always have issues.
Yeah, I’ve never had any luck with Mossberg anything but I had high hopes for this one, especially considering we got to almost 900 rounds before we had a problem even one single problem and it is a small problem, but when the manufacture is difficult to deal with it makes you turn your nose up at them. I took it to my FFL when I could have sent it off directly from my house that she could have a little bit more pool with them and she asked them that since it was less than a year old, would they send a prepaid label and they told her no it was the owners responsibility to pay to ship it back. This was not a cheap shotgun at nearly $1200 with tax.

@@GSquaredTactical I love my 590, it’s well worn in, thousands of shells never one single issue. My beretta 1301 went 1500 with no cleaning I wasn’t testing it I just hate cleaning guns. I tend to clean it now around 500 mark. It’s an estimate only but that 1301 had had zero breakages in at least 5000
@pj4433 yeah the 1301 is nice we may review it next. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
I’ve got 1000 rds through mine with no problems. I’ve really liked it so far.
I wish we could say the same but that’s why we documented our road to 1500, so we could show if we had any failures. Have you cleaned it at all?
@@GSquaredTactical No, planned to clean it at 1500
Let us know how it goes
I bought a brand new one out of the box it wouldn’t extract any shells
Dang man you did get lucky. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Mossberg sent me a prepaid code for fed ex. Out and back in 4 weeks. Broken elevator on 940 Pro tactical and faulty red dot.
I wish I could say the same 🤦🏻♂️. My FFL even tried to get a prepaid and they said NO that’s the customer’s responsibility. Thanks for watching and for commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.
I'm in Florida I just send the gun directly to the company, they always send it back to me ,never the fll. Some states I think require fll but I'm sure you know that
No, I could have sent it directly back to them from my house and had it sent right back to my house but I just preferred to use my FFL
When I sent the Tisas Night Stalker back I just printed off the prepaid label stuck it in a box with some bubble wrap and dropped it off at UPS and they will send it back to my house
Thank goodness - I purchased mine about the same time as you and have not fired it yet.
Sounds insane huh? I have several guns I have never fired and I have a yearly at the rod n gun club here.
So, I think the best thing I can do is just forget that I watched your two vids on the 940. (With thanks of course)
The only difference is that my 940 Pro is tactical but it is not the Michilack version with the gold dohickeys.
All else is the same though so if I just continue not to shoot it and forget I know, I’ll sleep better.
I think mine was $1250.00. All I heard on CZcams was that the 940 was the cats meow so I had to have a new one.
I still have my Beretta 1301C. Thanks for killing one of my guns. //ji

@@GSquaredTactical Rodger. You have great content and we appreciate it. //ji
@Rubin5342 Ty sir
I just bought a 940 pro od green I hope I won't have these troubles😂
I genuinely hope it does as well. I would advise not pushing it and cleaning it regularly and buy a couple of ejectors if you can get your hands on them because they are super easy to replace. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
have 2 one 940 jm pro and one of the fancy tactical ones with the red dot they are both junk! the pro jams 2 to 3 times out of a box of shells-ive tried about every brand of buckshot--the tactical one can't go thru a complete loading of the tube and the red dot adjusted all the way left still hits 2 inches to the right at 25 yards. i have lost all respect for Jerry and his daughter--you can find dozens of reviews that say the same thing---and by the way my old Remington semi eats anything I load in it!!!
You can’t beat an old school Remington! I’m sure Jerry was just someone they named it after and didn’t actually design it but I understand your frustration. Thanks for watching and please sub up if you haven’t already
Mossberg has the worst customer service out of all gun manufacturers I've ever had dealt with. I bought a brand new 590A1, first range session the barrel was shooting FEET low at 20 yards. I had to fight tooth and nail for them to send me a prepaid shipping label since it was not even a month into owning it. It then took them 6 months to replace the barrel and ship it back to me. They were very rude (like the guy in the video) and unconcerned.
Absolutely I’m the guy in the video. Literally the worse customer service experience I’ve had with a gun manufacturer or even a gun range or store. Just absolutely horrible and they need to be called out for it
@@GSquaredTactical it's a shame that they could care less about their customers or QC. It's one reason why I really don't trust buying a 940 from them. For instance, how does the extractor just break? Substandard metal or heat treat? Where else they cutting corners?
The 940 is supposed to last 1500 rounds before NEEDING to be cleaned, but as we've seen that doesn't seem to be the case. I've read reports online of similar issues. People shooting 300 or so rounds, letting the guns sit, then having problems.
Where do you stand with the gun now? Did you send it in? Have you gotten it back? Did you clean it? I would keep shooting it till the 1500 without cleaning to expose them.
@Tyrantresister so I did send the firearm back at my expense. They did get it back to me relatively quickly, although there was no explanation at all like literally nothing in the box indicating what they had done to fix it however, I know that the broken ejector the broken safety, and the broken tube follower had all been replaced. Even the envelope that I put in the box with it that had an explanation of what happened and what we were attempting to do with the channel review you could tell was never even read just briefly cracked open really. I was so aggravated with the whole process. I just cleaned it up and sold it for $800 and I feel like at $800 I came out a winner is Moss was the first gun I ever owned when I turned 18 years old. It was a camo pump shotgun.
@@GSquaredTactical that's sad that you had such a negative experience with Mossberg that you couldn't even finish the video testing (which would have been good promotion for them) and sold it off. Mossberg really needs to get their shit together! I hope you bought a Beretta A300 Ultima patrol with that $800!
Should test that to 1500 rounds instead!
People keep telling me to get the beretta and I need to quit reading the comments before I go broke lol
700rounds + in a short ammount of time puts a toll on any weapon i think.
hand it back to the shop and get a new one or fixed. its a warranty matter :)
This was over 11 months not really a short amount of time at least I don’t think so. The ejector broke and the safety broke. Both parts can be had for about $22 and Mossberg wouldn’t sell them to me it cost me $25 to mail it back but it is fixed

Every youtuber praises this shootgun, most likely they are all bought
You may not believe this but God in heaven knows even if they gave it to me and paid me 5k I’d tell the truth and I always will. We shot an optic from Cylee with a 12 gauge that they paid us to review because it was garbage. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
Would not recommend. Would not eject shells from day one. Ridiculous customer service as well. Returned twice and still have issues with it. Won't ever buy another firearm from mossberg. Hard pass. Buyer be warned.
Absofreakinglutely stay away from this overpriced POS. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already
My experience mirrors the information in this video. I bought a brand new 940 pro tactical. It wouldn't feed from day 1. Mossberg will not pay shipping to have it serviced under warranty. I wont buy another Mossberg, and i suggest y'all dont buy them, either. No customer service or support.
So aggravating
@@GSquaredTactical
I've dealt with customer service from Ruger, S&W, and Taurus. All truly professional, they stand behind their products. The Mossberg people didn't give two craps about me or the non functional shotgun they sold me. Should have bought the Beretta.
Absolutely
I took it back and luckily they gave me my money back
That is lucky
I think I'll stick with my cheap Turkish shotgun. It seems to be much more durable.

Time for same test but with 1301
We have considered it… should that be the next shotgun?
@@GSquaredTactical 100%. Pricey but people are claiming it’s better than the Benelli M4. That’s a huge claim and would love to see y’all put it through its paces like the mossberg. I hate to hear that about mossberg customer service. I have 2 mossbergs 500 and 930 and love them. Thanks for y’all’s dedication running the 940 through so many rounds. Keep up good videos
Ty sir
@@GSquaredTacticalI’d say the 1301 or, if trying to keep within the same price range as the 940 Pro, the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol.
Yeah this is probably my last debut with Mossberg
Mossberg always has, and still does make very cheap, low quality guns. I have owned several all they have all had broken parts, not cycled, and had terrible fit and feel. If you can avoid it, do not buy a mossberg. There is just no need to when so many other manufactures make such better guns for the same price (Winchester, Remington, Beretta, etc...)
What is crazy is this model is priced way higher than others simply because it has the JM upgrades. We appreciate you watching and supporting us. Thank you!!
@@GSquaredTactical For sure! I want to like Mossberg but I just cant. Seems to be that there is always an issue with them no matter what.
No doubt. My (Gene) wife bought me a pump action 12 gauge Mossberg for Christmas when I was 19 and it’s still a a great shot till this day lol. That would have been back in 1996 or so
