Not necessarily a plot hole if you think about it. They don't show up in canon, but that's not a problem if you consider the fact that we don't know much from Coruscant after the Empire rose. Vader trains Inquisitors, while Sidious used fallen Jedi/captured Sentinels as guards and main assassins.

The Guard training really seems reminiscent of the Sith academy on Korriban in KOTOR. Brutality, backstabbing, and brainwashing. Maybe that's why they were stronger. They were closer to the Sith of old, trained in combat and then immersed in the dark side once they had proven themselves worthy of such teaching. The Inquisitors, on the other hand, were less trained in the dark side itself, and more in resisting the light. They were former Jedi, meant to use their Jedi training to predict the movements and actions of Jedi.

He probably would’ve kept Dooku or turned one of the Soviergn protectors into a full fledged Sith. And if Luke were a Sith it would kind of depend on what he did to get there. Most likely he killed his father and sister or he would have to. I couldn’t see him killing Leia but if Vader killed Leia I could see him killing Vader in his rage and that turning him to the dark side. So I’d say Darth Ultorius, Ultor being Latin for Avenger, and most likely he would overthrow Palpatine and rule as sole Emperor guiding the Galaxy to an Era of relative stability. Since I think the thing driving him in the dark side would be a blood thirsty need for justice. He would be a very much the ends justify the means type of villain as opposed to truly evil.

One of the reasons why I’ve always liked the Royal guards over the inquisitors is simply, because while some members of the royal guards were canonically, fought to be mildly force sensitive it was never very much. The inquisitors on the other hand are a very big risk, because they are all former Jedi. This means that they have a much greater understanding of the force and of course have the ability to work with it. But at the same time that is also a bit bit of a crutch.
Think about it this way. Would it be more terrifying to see an inquisitor coming at you or see a individual in bright Crimson robes and armor coming at you knowing that even though this individual probably isn’t for sensitive they are still fast enough skilled enough to take you down, even if you yourself can use force abilities. I think that’s what makes them far more terrifying. Not only that, but you don’t know what they look like. And you don’t know if they are male or female or anything. And while they aren’t canonically speaking to everybody else, they don’t even know if the royal guardsare sentient creatures they could be droids.

Did Darth Vader truly duels with the Royal red guard in canon??? Actually keep in mind that Anakin started when he was Nine yrs old.
3 Yrs later he shown honed and skill with the blade as a Padawan, Learning ataru Under Obi-wan Kenobi; even at 20yrs. old Anakin was regarded as the higher end of skill as a Swordsmen duelist(being a level 7 in the skill that nick Gillard is mentioning) level 7 combat are very skilled beings with their weapon.
Anakin trained under obi-wan and went on many missions(maybe they have time to practice), at 20yrs for chronological age(like The attack of the clones film.) His ataru skill is combined after being knighted, also after that He Practiced shien/Djem so of both variants, he made up his mind for that to answer Count Dooku(who was testing him in all of the encounters, requested by palpatine). He used Ataru(Acrobatics and fast swings often spins from far enough) and shien(tight sweeping and batting swings while) at the time before his 20th yr.
Basically 11yrs of training+ clone wars and sparring with his master and with his padawan Asoka and others, several times Yoda.
I wonder how he would fare against, fencers(of any kind), kendo masters(of any kind), Kenjitsu fighters.
Darth Vader's training consist of Battering defensive swordfighters like soresu users specifically, using Djem so using form 5 and refining the bladework properly as the form describes and moving and approaching slowly, and marching fast in front when on the offense of a retreating fighter and mixing it up with variety of strikes and sometimes attempt to do disarm movements(can be countered by disengaging or move the weapon out faster), mixing with Soresu(learning from his Jedi master) and Makashi(after Vader's negative feelings for Obi-wan dissapates he starts to focus on refining his ability more towards the one handed swings like a fencer would do(he will do Djem so too)
Anakin didn't combat day and night at the total time of 11 yrs(of 365 days each yrs) he of course may practice alot, yet of course he dueled and sparred many sessions, same with Darth Vader(he practiced alot and lived 20 more yrs. later) how many hours is shown by their skill.

If you read the comics, they survived Vader's training and final duel. Most likely Vader chose them because he can still beat them. If Carnor Jax was chosen by Vader&wasn't instantly killed by being force sensitive, it's likely that the other Royal Guard are also force sensitives too but isn't trained. That extra force sensitivity gives them an extra edge in combat against other attackers but not enough against Vader himself which is probably what Palpy and Vader really wanted as maybe a potential dark side acolytes but trained more in non-lightsaber combat&survive.

i did see a video once about different miniclorien counts, it was speculated that Han solo had a count that wasent hige enough to be acctivly force sensitive but he was in the tier just below, it sounds like that guard might be the same or have been so weak in the force that he wasent trained. dont forget there is force sensitives that is REALY weak in the force like scout i think her name is (the jedi padowan that was considerd the weakest in the force, but acctualy managed to win the tournament that was held between the younglings that was about to be accept in the padowan ranks.

Well it makes sense that the royal guard would be better then a glorified jedi hunter, I mean do you really want someone as unstable as an inquisitor to be on level with the royal guard? God no you want the royal guard to be able to make them piss in an instant and have the ability to take on Vader too

It might be the case that the Red Royal Guard has not much failures recorded compared to the Inquisition is due to the fact that not much mission is given to the former to fail from.
Also, in terms of Combat Mission & Objective, I would still weigh in favor of that given to the Inquisition, since they are tasked to search and destroy one the most (if not the most) powerful beings in the universe

In legends we see the guards do more and more badass. The inquisitors are no match. Even hunting Jedi they have to travel in groups bc they are too weak and incompetent to face anyone with real skill. I’d take the royal guards any day. My favorite variant of the royal guards is the imperial knights in legends. I think they are force sensitive, they have lightsabers, and their armor is the best look.

It's poor oversight to litter the starwars universe with force sensitives then have it controlled under sidious and vader's rule of two, but then train a bunch of force sensitives with dark side skills. The dark side is supposed to have an alluring draw of power that delivers quickly. All the fallen jedi should be leagues more powerful than people like Cal Kestis, Ezra, and Kanan who were either padawans or untrained when their progress was severely stunted by order 66 and the rise of the empire. Meanwhile, the fallen Jedi should have only exponentially progressed by tapping into the dark side and continuing their training (even if deliberately limited) by Vader and Sidious. There are just too many contradictions to make sense
