That’s quite a statuette! Suppose that’s what you call art!
Those were the good old days when expensive but strange, pretty easily accessible merchandise (I mean we’ve been in some pretty long lines for a new drop) was something Disney Parks fans would joke about amongst ourselves, but it was no big deal.
On January 4, 2022, all of that changed with the release of the now legendary Figment Popcorn Bucket in Walt Disney World’s EPCOT.
Footage of the line stretching to the front of the park made the national news, with reports that people were waiting more than 6 hours to buy this cute little purple plastic shell stuffed with rainbow popcorn, and reselling it on the internet for hundreds of dollars.
The world now knows how intense Disney Parks fans are about merch, so we’ve got to ask ourselves, for science, what’s The WEIRDEST Thing I Ever Bought in a Theme Park?

Funny story... I went to EPCOT and into the Italy Pavillion and and asked to see the special masks... and they said that they sold them all after Molly's video where she shared how to see them. So don't go to Italy to try and see the masks because they aren't there anymore!
I am 9000% sure Molly and I would be friends. Her puking over resellers is often my reaction to things. lol :)
Same, at least we would be great foodie buddies cause her food/drink tastes always are the same as mine!

I want the figment bucket, but I'm just gonna wait a bit then start driving to the goodwills in the richer neighborhoods near me. 9/10 times you go there you will find Disney Park festival and event exclusives that people in that area got bored of and donated. I found a millennium falcon popcorn bucket there for $12 once.

Alan's back! (And his clip about the Halloween Horror Nights merch was wonderful!) And I love Quincy and her Shrek glasses! Always look forward to Thursday's RTT videos and am never disappointed.
Don't know if you'd call it "weird", but older daughter and I ("Dad") both built our own lightsabers at Tatooine Traders (plastic retractable ones, not the really expensive Savi's Workshop ones.) "Mom" got Disney Monopoly. And our younger daughter got an Ariel Bubble Wand and a toy model of the Frozen Skyliner car.

From my last trip to Universal Studios, I have a bright blue T-shirt with Homer Simpson on it, wearing nothing but his underpants and holding a doughnut in each hand. And at the bottom it says SUGAR DADDY. It's OUTRAGEOUS. I bought it immediately.
The last 2 minutes of this video made me laugh way too hard….
Well I have Star Wars Galaxy Edge; Lightsaber, Droid, the spherical cup with the creature inside that lights up, and a set of the Jedi Wisdom tokens. I would not include my Apothecary Jar from Haunted Mansion (the light up jar with a "spirit" inside is looks great next to my severed head lantern) because I bought it through the shop and not in the park.

I reused my Minnie Mouse Bow popcorn buckets (from DisneySea) for plastic utensil holders at my daughter’s Minnie Mouse birthday party and she uses she Cinderella Coach bucket (with real working wheels) for her Disney Princess dolls. My BB-8 sipper cup is a decoration that goes with other Stars Wars decor in my kitchen. Don’t have a use for the Figment popcorn bucket-my daughter would rather have that as a plush instead. We pretty much stick to collecting just Princess/prince dolls, plush, ornaments, and an interactive wand for Universal when it comes to the amusement park merch 😉
I keep my spare change and cash for future trips in my popcorn bucket. Which is proudly displayed on a shelf in my living room.

It’s kind of funny how Epcot and Universal’s prop shop were the main locations for the discussions in this video lol. Did you go on a theme park trip though if you don’t come back with something even slights impractical? I’m a very practical person who gets very selective about what they buy, but I have purchased many an impulse item on various trips. I have a plush Niffler holding a coin, multiple Wishables, a plush Figment, too many mugs, and countless pieces of attire that I did not ever need. But these things all bring me joy when I look at them, use them, or wear them, and that’s all that really matters.

My toddlers LOVED the double sided dolls. It was like two toys in one. They’re elementary age now and won’t part with them…..both sets of dolls ended up in their memory boxes.❤️

Weird item - the big Bao mug. It is impossible to drink from. I bought it in 2021 then gave it to someone who loves the Pixar short and was so excited to know the covered mug existed!
Definitely been exposed to this group before. No popcorn buckets yet, but back in the day when you could buy the fake plastic pirate swords and little toy pistols? Yup. My brothers loved those. We STILL have that pretend gun too somewhere in my parents’ house. Haha. And maybe not a WEIRD purchase, but my husband and I got the fancy real flower leis at the Poly for our honeymoon 6 years ago. Until recently (rip) it was dried and hung up on our wedding/honeymoon photo frame shelf in our house. 😁
And yes. Epcot is insane merch-wise. I love it.

We use our popcorn buckets for movie nights for the kids when at home. Spending 30 mins in line for a popcorn bucket is insane to me tbh.

I bought a popcorn bucket in MK on my last trip. It turned out to be quite practical. I use it as cookie jar or baked goods storage
I bought a Christmas one. It's a tree that lights up...a light up Christmas tree!! It's perfect. I plan to use it as a Christmas decoration with candy in it

I have bought a Tai Chi sword in China at EPCOT... have I used it? No. Do I regret buying it? (Crickets chirping)... ... no... I don't think so.
I bought the Figment bucket the second day but went and waited an hour at night instead of during the day when the wait was very long. Rode the rides first and age, figured it was our best bet.😊
I don’t understand the popcorn bucket frenzy. I honestly don’t understand why anyone would even get popcorn when there were so many delicious treats. I can get popcorn at the effing movies.
