Lego Island in VR!

- Welcome to Lego Island! This project was a huge undertaking. I was inspired by the video of @reubs . They are working on a remake of the game and that got me thinking about how we can experience Lego Island in an interesting way. So that's where 360/VR came in to play.
First I had to extract the island mesh from the original game. It was quite surreal working with 3D models from the 90s. I spent so much time on that island and to see the inner workings was amazing. When the island was in place, I had to build all of the buildings and vehicles from the game. It was quite difficult the build everything accurately, so the keen viewer will spot some mistakes. After building the island, the textures for the faces and torso had to be made. Then it was time to animate! I wanted to show the most recognizable characters from the game. I couldn't do too many, because then the video would take months to make. Also balancing the interactions and the hidden helicopter pieces was tricky. The final render took multiple days to finish. It's the most ambitious project I've done on this channel and I'm quite proud of it. I hope you will like it and that the video brings back some great memories. 😄
Sets featured in the video:
6598 - Metro PD Station (Slightly modified)
6334 - Wave Jump Racers
6337 - Fast Track Finish
6518 - Baja Buggy
#360 #vr #lego - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I LOVE the idea of combining a 360° video with this brick hunt! It's so cool!
Thank you do much! I’m happy that you liked it! 😁
Like a childhood nostalgia ride, thanks
Glad you like it! 😁
Bro this FEELS like a 90s video game bro. 10/10
Thank you so much! I appreciate it! 😁
It is lol.
It pretty much is.
This is based off of a 90s video game lol
Nostalgia overload! That was such pure joy 🥹
Thank you so much! I'm happy you liked it. 😁
Wow what a nostalgia trip! Those drive-by interactions are just iconic. Great quality video
Thank you! Glad you like it. 😁
my favorite place is the residential area, looks very cool with the dynamic lighting 🌴
Thank you! It’s such a nice place to be.😁
hello cat animation guy
I have founded all of the helicopter parts probably?
But no sign of the Brickter.
The island is *DOOMED!!!!!*
Ohh nooo! I am considering to reveal his location, because no one has found him I think. 😂
this is quite well-done. The idea to combine a 360 video with a scavenger hunt is quite unique. I only saw the reubs video yesterday so your timing turned out pretty great for me. Definitely a work to be proud of!
Awesome, thank you so much! I thought looking for the helicopter pieces is accurate to the game's story and also a motivation to look around and make use of the 360. 😁
Words cannot describe how amazing this is. For a second I thought I was playing the actual game!
Thank you for the kind words! ❤️
WOOOOW. This is the coolest thing you’ve done yet IMO. I felt like a minifigure!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! 😁
I almost never comment on videos but this was excellent. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! 😁
Haha its amazing! Will you record same 360vid with lego racers and LR2? it will be great!
Thank you! I will write that idea down. 360 videos take a long time to make. So maybe in the future. 😁
This is amazing video. Definitely one of the best Lego games 😊
Thank you so much! The game is fantastic. 😄
Man why content like this is so underrated, i just don't understand it
Thank you so much! I started this channel like half a year ago, so it needs time to grow. But I’m glad you’re here.😁
ngl this is incredible
Thank you! I appreciate that. 😁
I found 12. And it was an awesome 360 video.
There are 2 pieces left. The Brickster is somewhere too.
Thank you so much! 😁
Just stumbled on this, fantastic man! all the nostalgia.
Awesome! Thank you so much! Hope it brought fond memories. 😁
@@StudframeAnimations absolutely, the execution was spot on. 👌
@@AmbientMike Thank you! I’ve also made a VR video about Lego Island 2 if you’re interested. 😁
@@StudframeAnimations Awesome ill give it a peak!
Utterly fantastic!
Thank you so much! ♥
Fantastic VR video! I lost count how many pieces i found mt first time but safe to say i found most of the helicopter pieces. I kept tapping the screen trying to collect them - thats how immersed i was!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it! Would be awesome if you could somehow collect them.
The Brickster is still out there. Maybe you can find him too. 👀
This is amazing! Loved it! This deserves so much more views and subs! Keep it up man!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that! 😁
Dang this was great, that's a sub from me today! Any plans to do the racetrack? You could make that so cool with the VR thing
Thank you so much! I am not planning to do any VR content in the near future. This project was already a huge undertaking. But who knows, maybe I get a good idea. 😜
Worth the wait! I love how you kept the character animation style of the game. (And I spotted nine, by the way, unless I counted one twice.)
Thank you! Glad you noticed the animation style. I'm not used to animating that way. But it's fun. 😋
There are still more pieces and a Brickster out there. 👀
This is incredible
Thank you so much!
This is Outstanding
Thank you so much!☺
now THIS is awesome
Thank you so much! ❤️
This is actually amazing.
Thank you so much! Glad you like it! 😀
I remember putting a tiny two megapixel digital camera on a tripod and filming the computer screen back in 2006 playing Lego Island on PC, we've come a long damn ways.
@@mattbar6 Hahah yeah but that adds to the old school look. R. R. Slugger made a Lego Island video that way and it’s pretty cool. 🤪
incredible work you should be really proud of this -new sub
Thank you so much! I appreciate that!😁
Hello to all future watchers when this video inexplicably blows up 👋
Hahah that's very wholesome. Thank you for the kind comment. 😄
Amazing job! It looks incredible, it really felt like I was walking around in that world! :D
Thank you so much! 😁
i’m pretty sure i counted 14 pieces, but no sign of the Brickster yet. this is really fun, ty for making this! :3
Thank you! You have all the pieces but the Brickster is still out there. 😁
this is awesome! good job!
Thank you! Glad you liked it! 😄
Amazing job. Bought back some memories.
Awesome, I'm happy that it did! 😁
This is just amazing, thank you!
Thanks! ♥
This is really cool, man. Any plans to release it to the public? Would like to tinker with it sometime.
Thank you so much! This is an animation, not a playable game. I made it to look like an actual game. Maybe someone else is able to make it. 😁
@@StudframeAnimations Ah I meant the models, actually. I assume you completely made it or imported it somewhere?
@@CaptainPlums Ohh right, I don’t have plans to release it to the public. But everything I’ve done here, you can do too.
The island mesh is from the game itself, using an extractor.
For the buildings: I built every building (apart from the Information Center, which I could find in the library) in Studio. There are some really good reference photos out there from other people who have built them. I just copied those.
Good luck! 😁
This is so fun man, awesome!
Thank you so much! 😄
this is awesome!
Thank you so much! 😁
Bro this is so cool! I never expected a 3D video tour of lego Island lol. What did you uss to make this???
Hahah, I'm glad you liked it! I made this using Cinema 4D. 😁
@@StudframeAnimations Is that what you use for all these animations?
@@StormcellX Yes! But you could use any 3D application really. Blender is free and also really good.
@StudframeAnimations Blender is what I use lol. I'm still new to it, but I've passed the donut tutorial (which is now my incoming call wallpaper lol) and gotten to the point I can make simple models for my games :D
@@StormcellX That's good! That's also how I started. Are you going to make Lego animations too?
YESSSSSSS I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahah thank you! 😁
Dang, the videos just keep getting better and better
Thank you so much! Glad to hear that my videos are improving. 😄
very epic, stormcell sent me
Thank you and welcome to the channel! 😁
This is amazing! The entire island looks so beautiful in HD and the buildings are all accurate to how they were in the original game
I found 14 pieces btw
Thank you so much! You found all the pieces, but have you found the Brickster? 👀
@@StudframeAnimations I'll have to go back and search for him, he's a sneaky one!
@@Nowhere536 Yeah, you won't find him as easy as the helicopter pieces. 😃
@@StudframeAnimations :D Hopefully he won't be causing too much trouble
@@Nowhere536 Hahah we'll never know. I noticed that most people haven't found him. 😋
Amazing 🎉
Thank you! 😄
I only found two pieces 😭😭 cool video
There are still quite a few pieces out there. Goodluck! 😋
I've found 10 pieces (11 if the piece you showed at the beginning counts too)
Nice, there are still a couple out there. 👀
@@StudframeAnimations found 3 more
@@alexschyga3648 Well done, you found them all. But have you also spotted the Brickster? 😋
This feels illegal to watch for free
Hahah thank you so much! ❤️
👏👏
I see a shope that kinda looks like the brickster at 1:;00, behind the little building where the shark rises. Is it him ?
No, he went as far away from the prison as he could (hint, hint). 😜
I'm doing my best@@StudframeAnimations but can't find him :( My theory is that he is at the opposite of the prison but I don't see him anywhere !
@@StudframeAnimations MY BAD ! I found him ! He's a sneaky one !
@@Scratshouille hahah great! Glad you found him! 😁
i found either 13 or 14
Well done! The Brickster is still out there. 😜
happily will be the 1000th view
Awesome, thank you so much! 😄
amazing but why use the horribly fat and huge skateboard that was made by lego later? og island one is 100x better
I used it because as far as I know the skateboard used in-game doesn't exist in real life. And because all the buildings/vehicles are made using actual Lego pieces, I thought it would be best to use an existing skateboard as well. But I do agree with you that the in-game skateboard looks beter! 😁
I'm pretty sure the Mega Bloks skateboards are the exact same, aside from the wheels I'm pretty sure.
@@luisgamercoolgaming I’m not familiar with Mega Bloks. I would like to stick with real Lego for the videos. 😜
