    I have been on Lexapro for 6 months and it has been such a lifesaver. I have panic disorder, and it was taking over my life. My stress was manifesting into heart palpitations, chest pain, dizziness, constantly feeling overwhelmed. I wasn't sleeping and could hear my heart pounding in my ears when I would lay my head down. The start up 2 weeks were rough... everything was heightened, but after about a month, I noticed a huge change. Every week was better and better, and I was no longer consumed by panic. fast forward to 6 months, I feel like a better version of me. Those feeling of panic are gone, I can tolerate stressful situations easily, and I can actually get restful sleep. hang in there everyone... it does get better.

      J P I'm started an 10mg and have stayed on that for the entire time. Works wonders for me. All of the side effects are gone now, and my life is so much more enjoyable. I didn't even realize how much it was taking over, I had suffered for years.

    This video was very helpful!!! I have the same type of anxiety issues and avoid the exact same things which only feeds the fear!! This is my second time around with Lexapro so I’m in the same boat. Took it a few years ago and got better then figured I didn’t need it anymore plus I have a fear of being on medication even though it was a big help with my quality of life, so I tapered off of it and was fine for the last 3 years but it’s come back with a vengeance and has made life almost unlivable because I’ve regressed so much. So I’m going thru the start up symptoms all over again. To anyone who knows the crippling physical and mental symptoms of anxiety know that this is an uphill battle. Thanx for the post 💪🏾

    What amazes me is how many people are in the same boat as me, so decided to take medication for it. You get this impression that you're alone in it. But really, you're not. Once you look for others who are experiencing a similar thing. I'm getting whole yawny thing and that weird feeling in the throat already and I only start on it today. I got that on Zoloft many years ago. Man I hate that feeling. Hope that passes. I stopped Zoloft coz of it. Also, about the initial worsening of anxiety. My doc prescriped me Valium for the short term, to counter act that the anxiety until the Lexapro starts working. Just a suggestion. Of course some people don't like sedative and/or can't use them, due to work etc but I don't work. I'm on a pension coz I have Schizophrenia also. But yeah, sedatives and work don't always mix well.

    Stopped lexapro after 8 days and never looked back. I have pretty bad anxiety and PTSD. On Lexapro, i was seconds away from taking my life. Remember that "serotonin theory" is still just a theory, and true effect of these meds is not known. For me, the scariest part was ED, and possibility of PSSD. In 2 months I was able to recover, from the acute stage of anxiety. Reading books about ptsd/anxiety, daily journaling, crap loads of pre/pro biotics, nutritional yeist, vit d and omega 3, magnesium, multivitamin. THE KEY IN ANXIETY RECOVERY, IS TO DO THINGS THAT FEEL PARTICULARLY UNCOMFORTABLE AT THAT MOMENT. For me, at first it was going out of house, driving somewhere and than return to work.
    Anxiety can be completely recovered, but you have to have the right state of mind, and understand that it will take time.

    After 4-6 weeks you will feel good with this medication. But the real issue is how to stop taking this medication. Withdrawal side effects are very bad. Taper slowly and exercise daily and do the things you like and find the purpose of your life. You won’t need any medication in future.

    I’m on day 7 today at 10 mgs. I take it in the morning around 7 - 7:30. And have noticed when I get home every day from work around 4. Just crazy high anxiety. Won’t sit down. Doesn’t bother me during the day. But anticipating it seems to make it happen. Sounds crazy But day 6 yesterday was actually the best mood I’ve been in , in maybe 15 years. I’m excited to see if it gets better. Just trying to stay positive. Got prescribed it four years ago. But my anxiety of side effects kept me from taking it. Took it two days and that was it

    Luckily I've never been hit by side effects of medications that I'm taking. Of course my doctor started me on Lexapro but I also take Neurontin and Tramadol for herniated discs and neuropathy so they might all just be working together.

    I suffer from anxiety and depression. I took my first 10mg pill yesterday (first time taking medications ever) and it freaked me the fuck out! the first signs of the pill in my system was that my limbs and movements felt heavy and slow. Then i started getting extremely dizzy to the point were i couldn't read or focus my eyes on anything. I also had stomach pains and nausea. All these things just made my anxiety peak! I just couldn't function at all. Is this normal? should i keep taking them? i really dont want to go through that again.

      Rhiannon Clarke Wilson starting meds like this aren't easy, I'm not a doctor but I would ask your doc if he would recommend you starting at a much lower dose, like 2.5-5 mg. Some people are more sensitive than others and I believe should start lower/slower to build to a therapeutic dosage.

    Hi! I’ve been on Lexapro for a week. The side effects are the worst. Dizziness, nausea and sleepless nights and always tired. I have those same thoughts too I hate it because I was always so outgoing. How did Lexapro help? Did it get any better? I’m off of work for 3 weeks and I’m hoping it gets better. My anxiety is worst in the am.

I can't take something knowing it could possibly give me suicidal thoughts and so on. I just cant do it. I'm trying to get medical marijuana before I rely on a chemical. Altering your mind with chemicals is just not right.

      Start up anxiety was horrible, didn't want to leave my apartment it was so bad. Partly due to the lexapro AND caffeine withdrawals. But I started to feel much less anxious in week 3-4, took a while for my body to adjust, but now I have energy and sleep like a baby. Anxious thoughts are still there but my body physically doesn't manifest panic nearly as badly as a response

      Mike_Eternal you dont understand. Anxiety attacks and depression just happens there is no real trigger or reason. When it gets bad enough it can consume your life. We dont have options when nothing else works. You dont think people with these symptoms have tried that shit? You dont think weve tried meditation, good sleep, and supplements? Im a bodybuilder and have been for 6 years. I have been in fantastic shape and have been very healthy with my diet. And it still happened to me.

    • @analozada9475
      @analozada9475 Před 6 lety +1

      Lucky Luchiano exactly! Thanks for this answer. The same happened to me. I’m a super healthy, bodybuilder (bikini), with a super healthy and happy personal life, and still out of the blue started having severe panic attacks non stop so my doctor put me me on Lexapro five years ago and it worked great for years, the. I stopped it last year cuz I was feeling great, and now two months ago they came back full force out of nowhere. Now my body’s chemistry changed and became more sensitive to meds, so my doctor started me on Lexapro again but only 2.5 mg so it’s not so grueling, but side effects are hard to deal with. Lots of anxiety, insomnia, light headedness, and even panic attacks (not every day though). Some days are a bit better than others. Soon I’m gonna start on 5mg, so I hope I the side effects aren’t too hard to handle cuz this type of ailment is definitely no joke. I don’t even wish it to my worst enemy, cuz is hell on earth. One day I had an amazing, normal life, and next day I’m trapped in fear and panic in my house too scared to go anywhere except to my doctor’s appointments or the ER, which I visit way too often and now they know me well (super embarrassing). I’m hoping and praying that things get better by third week or fourth, otherwise my doctor will have to probably change meds. Thanks for sharing such a sensitive and private subject. I do appreciate deeply cuz this type of issues hold great stigma in society, and most peeps have no clue about how bad it is. Once again, thank you, and I hope Lexapro works for you! ☺️🙏
