  • Hi guys! I recently went back on Lexapro (Escitalopram) for anxiety, depression and panic attacks and I wanted to document the first week and talk about any side effects I experienced.
Of course, I am not a doctor, so please ask your doctor any questions about side effects. This is just my experience!

So I was on 10mg of Lexapro. It was great for the first week. I wasn't irritated all the time, I was more rational and reasonable. But then the second week I noticed that my jaw was clenched all the time and I was getting really anxious. So for my next appointment I told my doctor this and she suggested switching me to Zoloft 25mg so that's what I'm taking now. On week two. Jaw is clenched all the time and I don't have the semi-euphoric benefits that the first week of Lexapro gave me. I feel like my old self but with a little pill that doesn't really do much for me, which is irritating. Wondering what to do now.

Just know that this is her experience. Yours will probably be different. I have been on SSRIs for 25 years. Lexapro for 12 of those years. I had dry mouth, bruxism (jaw clenching) yawning a lot and mild fatigue and they lasted about a week. Most people do just fine and the side effects generally aren’t bad enough to discontinue use. In 4-6 weeks you will begin to notice your mood will be lifted and getting out of bed in the morning is easier. Good luck, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I felt the effects after about 1 week, and after about 2 weeks I felt my depression started to lift in a major way, it was like my head opened up to see light again. Third day for me woke up today feeling like dizzy, nauseated, had a hard time waking up at a decent time, and my back muscles keep locking up? But do feel more motivated and less overwhelmed. Just not digging the nausea I hope this flies away and didn’t always going to be there. Good luck on your journey

But surely every day has got better along with exercise like walking and stuff and also learning breathing exercises and doing meditation ✹

I love your videos. You have such a nice personality. I just want to share because yesterday was my first day taking lexapro 5mg. I am also taking 5mg for a week and then going up to 10mg. I have watched your videos & other peoples videos & I’ve read ALL the reviews. I was so terrified to take the medication because of the side effects. I took it yesterday at about 9am and went to Walmart to get groceries. I felt completely fine until about 12pm, I noticed I felt a little light headed but it passed! I then made a peach cobbler & a roast with mashed potatoes and corn on the cobb. I did notice the lightheaded feeling it was definitely different but it wasn’t anything that I couldn’t handle. It passed and I took my dog on a walk later that evening. I slept good and woke up feeling fine. I am so grateful that I haven’t had many side effects so far. I am really hopeful! I want this medication to help me. I’m taking it for anxiety. I worry and I’m nervous a lot. I have had a few panic attacks that I am able to bring myself down from using the Insight Timer meditation app. Thanks for posting your experience I enjoyed watching this video.

I've been prescribed Lexapro since dec. and my social anxiety and depression have just been amplified. like most social situations have my heart pounding and I can't focus or feel like myself so I've wanted to try it since it's quaratine and I don't have priorities to interfere with this lol. my main concern is this changing my mindset far worse than what I started with, is that possible to develop? so I'm just scared to become a worse person after taking it and not recovering. unrelated but I was on birth control and it caused me to throw up (I rlly can't handle vom) and I developed an eating problem for a year after that :( so idk if it's worth the risk but I feel like my life isn't in my hands right now.

I have been on lexapro for 4 months and I started on 10mg the first 3 weeks and seen no change so now I'm on 20 mg right now for the last 3 months . I seen the difference in my anxiety and depression and I feel so much better. I used to have really bad panic attacks to where I felt like the room was closing in on me. I stopped having crying spells , I stopped having suicide thoughts , I feel more up beat with life and have so much more patience for my kids and my normal day to day activities. Now my only issue is I have been with my boyfriend for 10 years and have awesome sex but since I been on lexapro I don't feel like I'm in the mood and I'm not wet anymore (TMI I know) and I feel bad because my boyfriend thinks I don't find him attractive anymore, has anyone else experienced this since being on lexapro? I also have dry mouth , and sleep allot. I stopped using my medication cold turkey for a week and I had been dizzy for days and light headed and soooo thirsty so I decided to continue taking my medication until I see a psychiatrist next month to see what would work better for me. I hope my experience on lexapro helps someone else. But highly recommend talking with your doctor.
