    I've always understood it as Randy telling George that he looked up to him for inspiration when he (Randy) was getting started. And then George saying that he was skeptical of this new boy (Randy is from North Carolina) and the different style of music at the time. Then George was pleased to find out that Randy may be young, but he's still just a good ole country boy! Great reaction sir.

      Yes I think Don kind of missed this song meaning :)

    After George Jones passed away Randy Travis along with Joe Nichols record a song called "Tonight I'm Playing Possum" which is a tribute to George Jones , they reference some of his songs , its a nice tribute to George Jones .

    Thanks Ed for the great request. Randy has a great country voice and mixed with George's how you can you go wrong. The song was written by Troy Seals and Mentor Williams and released in 1990 on both Randy's 'Heroes & Friends" album and George's 'Frends In High Places" album and reached #8 on the charts. As I hear it, it is a song about the connection between older and newer generation of country music. George and Randy take turns singing about the admiration they have for each others music. You asked about the line that mentions Carolina. Randy is from Marshville NC. Thanks for your reaction Don. We know you're a closet Uu of M fan.. haha

    Oh wow, they sure don't make them like this any more! One of my faves from the golden era of 90s Country! Thanks so much Montauk Ed for this brilliant request, so wonderful to hear these two again. They really did make a great duo. Thanks Don for the excellent reaction!

      You’re welcome Terry. Other than a child’s laugh and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean crashing on my former home town shores of Montauk, the two most beautiful sounds to these old ears are a fiddle and a steel guitar. I truly do love country music.

    Well done, thank you for doing this song. Yes it is a 10. Have you done Randy's song, I thought he walked on water?❤😂😊

    A great tune and a 10 for sure. A later version has Jamey Johnson singing with Randy Travis. One of my favorites….

    You are 100% accurate with your assessment Tom. George sings: We heard you were a fast train coming out of Caroline.(Randy was born in my adapted state of North Carolina in the town of Marshville.) George continues: We wondered what you were hauling’ when you rolled into town, it’s good to know there’s still a few country boys around. George specifically talking about Randy. To Don: Thanks for your kind comments about me in the beginning of this reaction. Thank you for your 10 rating as well. I think when any subscriber requests a song, they are hoping for a 10 rating. Realistically, we are all hoping for a 9 and above. Just a suggestion: No more 8.9’s. Round it up to a 9. It makes us feel so much better. 😊 I guess , in some way, it is a validation in our taste of country music songs.

      @montauked You are spot on, yet again! As for the 8.9, maybe what I should do is stick with the 8.9 but put an ice cube down my shirt as punishment. 😂

      @montauked17 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@montauked17 Great song, Ed! It was a new one for me, but how could it possibly be bad with those two singing! Thank you! I didn't know Randy was from NC, but that (if possible) just makes me admire him more. So many songs by both are in my top 100 Country songs! Thanks again and have a great rest of your day!

    You might try Jones singing with Melba Montgomery. He said she was a better duet partner than Tammy was. “I’d Jump the Mississippi” is a good bluegrass song.

    Randy represents the new wave, non-traditional country that surged in the mid eightys. George of course the old guard. Its about the OG's wondering what this new noisy smoke show was really haulin and the neo traditionalist paying respect to the OGs. Its also about Randy and George...lol😅
