LYRICS
People living their lives for you on T.V.
They say they're better than you and you agree
He says "Hold my calls from behind those cold brick walls"
Says "Come here boys, there ain't nothing for free"
Another doctor's bill, a lawyer's bill
Another cute cheap thrill
You know you love him if you put in your will but
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Huh huh who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
And who will save your souls if you won't save your own?
We try to hustle them, try to bustle them, try to cuss them
The cops want someone to bust down on Orleans Avenue
Another day, another dollar, another war, another tower
Went up where the homeless had their homes
So we pray to as many different Gods as there are flowers
We call religion our friend
We're so worried about saving our souls
Afraid that God will take his toll
That we forget to begin but
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Huh huh who will save your souls after all the lies that you told, boy
And who will save your souls if you won't save your own?
Some are walking, some are talking, some are stalking and kill
You got social security, but it doesn't pay your bills
There are addictions to feed and there are mouths to pay
So we bargain with the devil, so evil, careful do they say
That you love them take your money and run
Say it's been swell, sweetheart, but it was just one of those things
Those flings, those strings you've got to cut
So get out on the streets, girls, and bust your butts
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flowers now
Huh huh who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
And who will save your soul if you won't save your own? - Hudba

More so now than ever, I feel ridiculously lucky to have grown up in the 90's
Yeah ignorance was totally bliss
How True is tht statement. 90s music was so diverse.
I second that notion.
I’m 12 and have been listening to the 70s,80s and 90s. ALL MY FRIENDS TALK CRAP ABOUT IT!!!
@@mileyland7687 They will understand in a few years. If they dont, get new friends cuz they are weak willed and will only bring you pain.
That soulful reggae beat coming through in a song by jewel is everything to this Caribbean girl💥💥
Still one of the worlds most underrated songs
It’s one of the best ever
so true!
Can hits be "underrated"?
@@ShiceSquad I don't know, good question by the way.
@@marlonleite7711 Thanks, I would just imagine that getting massive amounts of airplay and recognition wouldn't really go together with being underrated.
She was 16 when she wrote this song. Unreal. So talented.
That really is crazy!
This Girl Jewel just like her mom Lies so Much, you see Jewel has Not Ever Talked to Her Biological Father and I know that for a Fact !!!!!!
Jessica Steinberg, Atz Kilcher is Not Her Father, he told me that he is Jewel’s Mother’s Brother when he gave me Lanedra Carroll’s Hand in Marriage at an LRY Conference in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 September1,1973
@@horseyhorselips3501 uh ok?
She wrote a whole great album ...always brilliant in the morning smoking your cigarettes and talking over coffee...
I’d forgotten how amazing her voice is. Still a great song in 2023
Her songs aged like fine wine. Amazing lyrics, music and voice
I’m trying to find some female singers songs that I enjoyed. Found one!
Jewel is my dream. I close my eyes and get lost in her voice. I have never known happiness greater than how I feel when she sings. She speaks to my soul.
Jewel is immortal. She's broken my heart a thousand times after my heart was broken by my love. Nobody will save our souls. We save our own.
Amazing how negative life experience can make for great poets
Tylor swift couldn't even hold this girl a light back in the day

Truth! 100%
Wooo hehehe 😂 true that
God, she was so fresh and original when she came out, then the industry got ahold of her.

This is one of the top ten songs of all-time for me. I’m a metal guy, but the 80s and 90s gave us so much goodness that wasn’t metal and I’m not ashamed to say it. 😆
it's almost incredible how much && how fast American society has plummeted since these times
I haven't made any good memories since.
Word!
I agree. there's no reason to be ashamed for liking songs that are not in your favorite genre! I've had some people ask me if I have songs that are a "guilty pleasure" to me, like something that I don't wanna admit I like? I say, nope, there's no such thing. A good song is a good song, period.
My favorite music is what I guess people would call "classic rock"...but I aint a classic rock guy, I'm a "music guy" lol
This song came to mind when I was "homeless". Three things happened. First I felt at home yet had no house. I felt the will to live, I hadn't felt since I was a child. I sobered up and awakened, saving myself from my own self destruction. Now I see truth within and in front of me. People do not realise the lies they have been told keep them intoxicated on dopamine, so they are not sober. Drugs and alcohol do the same them, flood the brain with dopamine leaving them ultimately depressed, seeking the next dose, so stay in the lies.
Our LORD JESUS 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Jewel, Alanis, Joan Osborne, Tori Amos. Didn't know how good we had it.
Don't forget Fiona, Ani, Sarah McGlaughlin(spelling?)Heh. But yeah for sure.❤❤❤

@@lawrencep7897 ? Why?
Blessed 90s! That 90s haircut, the emotions, the existential questions! I’m so grateful this was my coming of age decade.
When I was in the 90's, I thought it sucked. The angst was in the growing pains: Gritty, honest-grungy goth. We could get away with being really bad and not being filmed. Now I love it!
I weep for this current watered down confused, self regulating generation
Does anyone ask themselves questions like this anymore?
Same here. I was late, 80s and 90s, and it was the best time of my life I ever had. We didn't have computers or internet like today, and so I remember burning through cassette tapes and scratching CD's from replaying the song soo much in order to memorize the lyrics. However, we were fortunate if the CD cases contained lyrics written on the little booklets inside the cases. As kids we were always busy outside playing with friends. It was such an excitement and treat to sit in front of the old t.v. screen watching MTV and many other T.V. shows or going to block buster to rent scary movies on VHS. I miss those times a lot! 🥹
Back when the idea of a simulation was an actual weird idea 😭. Bring me back I loved the 90s
@hollzie…same man same. Miss those simple times 😭💔✌️
That's the song that made made fall in love with Jewel! Listen to that amazing angelic voice, sing her message to us all.
I got a choice, who will save your soul, if you don't save your on, my choice is Jesus Christ!
Jewel is beautiful, talented and I could listen to her sing forever!
Cecil Ferrell I really, truly don't get how this only has 2.25 million views. I'm at least 2 dozen of those views... what a voice Jewel has. I really just love the entire message of this song, too. The video is cool. I do not understand people.

I haven't heard a song Jewels made I don't love!
Hopefully life will become a little more financially secure for me soon, so I can up grade to better, then I'll have it.
I had close to 500songs on this right after purchase and a virus made me have to factory reboot, lost them all. I had a friend for three years that had a drum set I haven't seen since 1983,I still want to drum, so I have sticks and air-drum to the memory of his nine piece set. Lost sixteen albums of Rush, I about cried losing all my music. I had a good 20 of Jewels song, my favorite and her first big hit, Who Will Save Your Soul.
Thank you for the talk, my new friend! Be well, safe and happy, then walk complete in love!

The 90's...... The last Great Era of music! What happened?
+Brandie Lee Amber Nickleback happened and then the dark times began as it was written. The Book of Songs 2:11 "and thus a best shall be borne of low and loathsome quality that the dancers with names like Diamond, Porsche and Lexi shall strip too and then you shall know the time is nigh and the Lord our God Hendrix has cast judgement upon your musical palette and found you wanting"
Vandal Noire Excuse me? Nickelback the band? They suck! Hendrix is an amazing artist ..What the hell is wrong with Jewel? I am a woman so I like her.. she is a good artist... Not to mention I had a reason for posting these songs..If you knew me you would know... so please elaborate on your comment so I can respond better.. Thank you
You asked what happened to great music and I answered. Or were you asking what happened to her?
Vandal Noire Oh hahah... sorry.. I didn't notice that I wrote that over the post.. Yes Ok sorry its late.. I haven't gotten enough sleep lately.. I should have noticed that... I don't always comment over a video before I post it so I wasn't paying attention to that...
Ok Yes.. Music today is slim pickens.. there has been barely anything new style or rock since the 90's. Yes when Nickelback came along a whole new low came.. and no new good rock music.. I am happy I grew up when I did and have an appreciation for real music.. timeless music... not this bublegum cookie cutter crap.. yes I will like some pop there are a few artists and songs today.. but that is not my genre of music I like.. so it is really sad how far these record companies and one hit wonders have sunk.. and society believing and thinking its music.. and good music.. I SMH!
:)
And Im sorry, I thought my response was witty and funny...alas I am still the only person who laughs at my own jokes :)
