My mum died of cancer awhile back and this was her favorite song it was played at her funeral. Every time I hear it I tear up. for years I didn't listen to it as it just caused me pain. Thank you dido for making my mother happy.

No, she isn't underrated because she was a huge pop idol in her generation (early 00's). But then, she decided to take a brake and make a family. When she came back, a lot of new singers like...yes, the Taylors, the Katys and Mileys took her place. Now Dido's albums are just a bunch of masterpieces on nostalgia trips. But at the end of the day, it is true that in some cases like this, two people who do deeply love each other shouldn’t be together for their own sakes. It may not have been infidelity or something terrible that tore them apart, but whatever it was can’t be forgotten and may not be able to be mended. Or they just weren’t a good match.
So she pretends to move on despite how much she loves him and is very graceful about it to keep them both from getting hurt further. Love this.

I went through my divorce in 2007 and this was what was playing. We had a 3 year daughter and I was absolutely devastated. Her voice takes me back to those moments when I didn't think I could ever get through. My daughter left for college this week and she's thriving. IMHO, the "White Flag" is Dido's best song yet. Words can't describe the beauty of this song, which represented the unconditional love with soothing music and simple music arrangements, pure nostalgic! 🎶❤️

I love the song, but the video takes it in a bad direction when it pans from him to the wall, her face circled and the word "MINE" written under it. That is stalker level unhealthy obsession.
It was the time of crossing into 21st century ... Millennial optimism ... Her music, Air, Coldplay, Radiohead, Massive Attack, PJ, ... made us feeling we are floating into new soft limitless era... Who would imagine that the reversal will happen, a kind of pitfall and degradation in music (as it is in the most of culture), in a way that it is hard to find such a unique melody or a true expression ... Couldn't have said it better. Even though I was born in 93, I feel that 90s and early 00s were really a special time in human history, nothing would ever match that vibe. Music, movies, pop culture, technology they truly reached their peak then and everything sucks now.

Hitting high’s and wobbling is to me many others annoying & I guess I’m used to singers that don’t do this, maybe now and again, but today it’s fashionable, but if the song is sang with emotion, it shouldn’t need a crescendo & fireworks

I go to see live music every week & I love all those songs played with an acoustic guitar & a voice & no impersonating either Adel or Ed Sherran & simply sing, you may well laugh but my top singers are Tom Waites & Kim Carnes because I believe them as I do Bob Dylan also
