Best of Sundew Timelapses Compilation

- I've been going through a few of my old videos and noticed that some of my earlier (and best) sundew time lapses didn't get a lot of attention at the time because my channel was so small compared to what it is like now.
So I decided to edit together the very best ones I have done, to show the world how awesome these plants are.
Imagine being a fly and seeing this plant. You go in and get stuck on the juice, and see yourself slowly be digested alive by the now acidic liquid. Thats a terrifying thought.
Thy actually don't get digested alive, (at least, most of the time, probably). The bugs either die from exhaustion or suffocation first.

Seeing all those "dewdrops" converge into a suffocating digestive goo was both fascinating and haunting
Sundews are the coolest carnivore plant, I love the way it bear hugs the prey.
I mean... this is pretty strong competition to falling into a pit of digestive fluid with other corpses around you or being sealed into an increasingly airtight contraption

Which segment do you like best? 1:22 is my favourite due to how many tentacles the fly gets covered in.
Carnivorous Corner I think it was 29 tentacles
I think 0:43 because you can still see the fly at the beginning. Edit:I like 2:13 more, you can really see it.

I had one of these as a kid, my mom and I caught a giant spider on the porch, refrigerated it, then fed it to the drosera. What an amazing plant! I’d get another, but it’s too cold for bugs most of the time in the climate where I currently live.
This is the type of stuff you'd watch at 3 in the morning to fall asleep
We need these plants to be mandatory! No need for pesticides, this is mother nature's natural solution right here.
I read somewhere that these are regarded as a pest in Australia I think, and they've greatly reduced the population of insects there
You clearly didn’t think that through. The Sundew doesn’t differentiate between our idea of good and bad bugs. It will kill them all regardless of the benefits or drawbacks to us.
Something like this unchecked would hinder pollination, upset the equilibrium of entire ecosystems by simply devouring insects in mass. From what I’ve seen, they produce seeds rather rapidly too.
No retreat. No escape. No help. No possibility of ever finding a way out. Just an inevitable death!
It is so creepy that it is difficult not to watch haha

very nice makro time lapses-I wonder that they are so big and still couldnt free themselves. I made also time lapses with flies but even some Drosophilas could free themselves.
Those little drops are super sticky, they are also digestive fluids I believe

Does anyone know if it is possible for this plant to attract the fly to land on the flower by itself or does someone have to put the fly on the plant. It is impossible for an ant or a fly to land there by itself?

Are those little drops water
No their a sticky substance that sticks things onto them. Sundew is another type of you could say "Venus Fly Trap"
It’s a sweet nectar that attracts insects. When an insect gets covered though, it’s stickiness holds it still as it drowns in the excess fluid covering its body.
The sundew then produces digestive fluids so that it can drink the bugs insides out like a spider.
Reminds me of pushing your finger into a hairbrush. Except with death
