Some years ago I was considering getting one of these RF-85's, based on what I just saw about that clutch slave cylinder I'm kinda glad I didn't as that would be too difficult for me to deal with, I know for you and others it's no big deal but then again you guys know what you're doing :) Great video and I really enjoy watching you work on race cars. Thanks sir !
Steve, I have used this type of clutch slave piston set up on my friends Morris 1000 with a Ford gearbox in it but we had a issues working out the minimum and maximum travel distances but we got it in the end, I‘m really enjoying the race cars but I‘m also looking forward to see old rusty again. Cheers Dave
Hi Steve. Most bell housings on these cars have factory fitted "Inserts" in the threads . Common , as threads just cut in the castings don't last long ,if bolts are in and out a lot. If that hole is badly damaged, from experience, don't use the heli coil wire type repair. Far better are Wurth time serts, solid insert, expensive, but much stronger and reliable. Cheers. Neil.
Hi Steve, what a strange slave cylinder system ! Never saw it before. But if I well understand, you can just replace the piston and the seals, in case of cylinder interior damage you have to replace all the bell housing itself 😳😳. Thanks, David.
Loving the race car series. I run an old Reynard Opel lotus that I will be putting a new clutch into soon. I know it not the same but these videos are a big help. Thanks for the hard work, Paul.

Hey, thanks
Good job
thanks for the comments
Fantastic . As ever .
The 3 in one housing is a neat design, but quite labor intensive for work...
what about the thrust bearing it could be faulty
Yes indeed...will be replaced
