I think your construction method is just what I need for a utility table. And I like your choice of poplar -- sturdier than pine, but not exorbitantly expensive. You earned my sub.
I like poplar for just those reasons, along with the fact that it's readily available at the big box stores. Thank you for watching and for the sub! Greatly appreciated!
Awesome! Generally, screwing anything into workpieces that are 3/4" thickness you would use the 1 1/4" screw. I use it the most as most things I build frequently use 3/4" boards (1 inch nominal), plywood, etc.
Thanks! Table was built as a non-permanent solution to fill an empty space in my friend's restaurant. He needed it for some temporarily required documentation and the shelf was just for some simple "storage." I expect it will take much more of a beating in that capacity than any expansion issues would cause. At least that was my thought behind it. Thanks again!

Wow! Looks close to what I want except for dimensions. You do such nice work!
Never would have thought to put poly over paint!
The paint needs to be fully cured, but since it's going in a restaurant, I wanted to give it some more protection!
Simple and functional
Thank you!
Cool idea. I've just gotten into the hobby. What kreg screw size did you use on this project?

I didn't think it was too bad at all, apologies!
