  • Super fast tutorial: This beeper is the most annoying sound ever. Here's the only way for you to stop it from beeping: destroy the beeper for good. You will get your life back.
    My model number: FFMV164LSA (it's just your basic Frigidaire microwave)

    Every other fridgidaire microwave: "just hit preferences off"
    This 1 version: "yeah you're gonna have to take the whole thing apart and cut the wire"

    My board design was slightly different, but similar. I ended up partially covering my speaker with a blob of acrylic caulk to reduce sound output by about 75%. Like other's comments, the designers of this model deserve perpetual diarrhea.

    My FFMV164LSA is in a rental so I didn't want to destroy the beep, lest the rental company come back at me for damaged the microwave. Instead, I mixed up some Quikset JB Weld, filled the speaker hole and glued nickels ($0.05) to both sides of the buzzer. Oh so quiet. Almost like my neighbors microwave is beeping instead.

    THANK YOU! I had my last straw with this microwave and when I found out there was no button combination to press to turn off that incessant beeping, I was so sad. This took me about five mins (my top cover was very stuck) and now the beeping is gone! I do want to point out to everyone that ALL the beeping is gone, so no buttons make noise when pressed. That’s all good with me! Thank you, again!

    I did it in 10 minutes with very long acrylic nails. Unplugging the 2 wire clear plug was harder than I thought, I had to pull really hard and straight then it came out. For the buzzer I had to bend the buzzer back and forth until the 2 solder arms broke. Other than that, same as video. We know have a peaceful microwave. God Bless You!

    I can’t thank your enough for this, I couldn’t STAND that sound!
    The “nubbins” he refers to look like thin flat metal prongs on each side of the round black “buzeer”! ☺️ I managed to get the round part off the prongs and instead of cutting them down, I gently pushed them to the side and left them there, since it’s not technically my microwave and I put the black round buzeer away in case they want to put it back after I move out.

    FYI - I just spent 30 minutes in a live chat with Frigidaire support because I'm in an apartment and didn't want to break their microwave. No luck.
    I told them that I can clearly see a mute icon in the upper left corner of the display but can't figure out how to activate it. After sending me the links to two CZcams videos that I had already watched (one video references this exact video, actually,) and sending 5 different button combos to press (two of which my model doesn't even have,) they let me know that indeed, breaking the buzzer is the only option.
    Funny side note - I can see that one of the previous renters of my unit attempted this method without removing the screws first, broke the plastic piece on top, and ultimately gave up lol.

    Just a heads up, you should check to see if your model has a setting to disable the buzzer first. Every Frigidaire model I have ever found has a setting where you can simply turn the buzzer down or off.

      Capt. Winky there are several pages that refer to this problem. There is actually no way to disable the beep without doing this. The manual also shows there is no way to disable the beep. It’s pretty ridiculous!

  • @Yosetime
    @Yosetime Před 3 lety

    I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it using the front of the control panel. It's in the manual I believe. It's obscure but can be done. Using the clock button or some other button that's meant for something else. Hence the obscureness. If you don't have the manual I guess this would be second best? Thanks for this though. Hopefully I will be able to find the right buttons for my model.
