    I vote yes for a roughly put together diy kit with all the major components minus turbos of course.

    Yes, those tight radii 90's are $$$! I'm in the middle of fabbing up a side-by-side compound set, and the manifold turbo is flipped so the compressor wheel is facing where your turbine is. This keeps the hot pipe super short and hopefully spins the S473 t61.15 88/96 super quick. Its just like what you have but the hot pipe length is now the interstage length on your setup and vice versa.

    👍👍thanks feller...not exactly sure how I'd like to arrange the setup when I do... your's is a good way ..the hot and cold pipes would probably be my biggest hurdle....all I've got is a MIG welder... could buy them from wherever I suppose...but anyway 👍👊🍻

      Keep the metal clean and biggest tip is get comfy! Find your leaning angles and get comfy with your welding pass before you start the pass. That's the best tip I got many years ago.

    Tight radius donuts.
    K27 isn't worth the cost. Go look at PDD's vids on that turbo- they pushed it (sales). And then they tested it against their "Aggressor" turbo. Stock he351 is just as good. Better, actually. A 67-76 turbine is even better in the he351. IMO. Wouldn't buy the K27. I still think the T6 atmosphere turbo better. Ya, the t4 spools super fast. I just think a S475 T6/1.32AR can still work in a towing app. And cheaper. Tuning needed, and probably a slightly larger injector... but I guess that's the break-point... Want to use stock everything? T4 atmosphere. Willing to put injectors in and tune? T6. Injectors on 24v only good to 150k-200k miles.
    These days, market flooded with chinese knock-off he351s. Ok, fine... but replace the compressor wheel with stock Holset, or US made billet. They blow up. Don't deal with a blown up turbo. It's not fun or cheap. Same with the S400 turbos, I see.
    Not a fan of side by side turbos. I do over-under. Keep the turbine side as short as possible. I love those cast iron 8.3L cobra heads. Not cheap anymore, though.

  • @JasonTheMunicipalMechanic

    I was contemplating putting compound turbos on my truck. It an 03 5.9 with a Hamilton towing cam. I just got a new Hy35w replacement for it and I was wondering what, if any second turbo you would recommend to go with it in a compound set up? I’m looking for a reliable towing set up. It also has a manual trans.

    I ordered a compound kit fro DPS. Its the stage 1 that runs the 475 over the stock hx35. I have a fresh mahle head gasket and Exotic head studs. How much boost can I safely run? I’m a manual with a 215 pump, 5x12 injectors, stock timing, and a s362sxe making 50lbs now. Also with this kit should I add the 4K spring to my current 3k governor set?

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  Před 10 měsíci

      I like the 4K myself. Timing up will make it run way better. But is harder on the head gasket. 45-50psi on a good gasket is fine

    Very interesting and informative video. I have a question tho. How would the combination HX 35 and HX 52 perform on this engine?

    • @bigmurph1447

      If ur looking for hp that setup will not work good. If ur looking for towing and little bit of fueling up to 400hp it will work good

    So i always see where people trip out about cold air intake with no sroud to keep engine heat off of it
    Is this not really an issue?

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  Před rokem +1

      Any time you can pull heat out on the intake air temp it’s best. But honestly I have never worried about it. But when I get some sensors for data we will find out
