- At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, we posted ourselves into Aston's £2.5million V12-engined unobtanium for a ride up the hill. It was... well, hit play and let Top Gear Magazine’s Jack Rix try and explain. If he can remember how to talk. And hear.

That would make a good F1 Safety Car, Aston already supply a pair sharing duty with the Mercs. Always a spare safety car at each Grand Prix. Maybe the drivers would then stop complaining the safety car is too slow.
That’s one expensive safety car, things are like £2million each lol
@@RDB33 pocket change for f1.
It’s way too loud and extreme. And I’m not joking. It would make F1 cars look tame. Yes it’s not as fast, but the engine would make F1 cars look pathetic. F1 doesn’t want that. Also, it’s an extremely limited hypercar, so it’s not exactly available as it’s already sold out
@@mikemoggerson6651 yes this is extreme for a road car project but it’d get passed like it’s a Prius on track by a current F1 car, dunno what your smoking 😂
Companies tend to use their more 'attainable' road cars as F1 safety cars. The Valkyrie needs no extra promotion to sell it.
Car seems to be trying as hard as it can to kill them both.
or as hard as it can not to kill them both
You saw it too.
They need Mazda to fix the suspension for them.
Tyres don’t look their best either
Probably be vastly improved on a set of warmed slick tyres
Goosebumps instantly with the sound of this car!
I actually think the sound is not so amazing to justify the ugly styling. When it come to sounds a V12 rarely beats a V10.
I'm excited to see what their new Vanquish will sound like.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma the styling is fine. The main improvement i see for the styling would be slightly larger headlights. This V12 sounds absolutely phenominal much better than most v10s i've ever heard by a mile.
@@Illestrapper so you're comparing synthetic sound of the Valkyrie to the likes of the Lexus LFA and Porsche Carrera GT?
@@DefinitelyNotEmma i prefer it over the lfa sound by along shot, the carrera gt on the other hand is arguably one of the best sounding engine ever made. That being said i do think some v12s have comparable if not better sounds than the carrera gt.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma lfa is overrated, this sounds better, none has beaten the murcielogo sv in terms of sound yet, best sounding cars in general are f1 v10s though
I love the unfiltered joy in Jacks face when the car accelerates. it is the exact same face my son makes when i put my car in sports mode, and he thinks the car is going at lightspeed.
Same except I am the son
How irresponsible.
@@malek4485 sorry mate that's the first troll comment I've ever done, it was a joke just to see if anyone got triggered. I know you didn't and just asked the question. I hope his son loves cars, as do I because my dad used to do handbrake turns and the like, have a good day sir.

Never did I think I'll ever hear such a magnificent v12 noise again. We may get used to the smaller engines but this will always remind us what automotive melody is supposed to be👌🏼
Its just high pitched noise. It has no soul to it like a Lamborghini or the raw power like a low ruling v8 or v10

As a kid I dreamed of cars like this existing. So glad it’s a dream come true :)
The snaps on the rear end when theres remotely too much power would make me sh*t myself
"It's about the engine this car" couldn't have been more belittleing. This car is so much more.
“Outside the clurb” 😂😂😂 funny
😂 thought I was the only one.
I keep replaying and i keep recrying!! I play and i cry! I have never ever been so touched by a car engine sound like this one.. I am very very greatful and thankful for this beautiful piece of a being that this monster masterpiece is! Thank you guys:)
does anyone feel that way about this engine or is it just me??
The wailing of the engine when revved...
I feel this car is part of the next gen of hypercars along with the Jesko, Rimac etc. The la Ferrari, 918 and P1 are the last generation! Seemingly it goes in 10 year cycles as the Enzo was 10 years before them
Don't count out the T50. 850kgs. 750hp. 14100rpm. It seems everyone is having wet dreams over 11,000 rpm...... and forgetting a car with a 3000rpm higher redline coming soon.
@@markorchard2272 oh of course, those were just a few examples. It’s impossible not to love Murray’s design philosophy regarding space, practicality and lightness
These are pathetic paper tigers you mentioned! The real hyper cars are championed in the WEC and in LeMans 24hrs legendary race starting 2021. Sadly we all know this fact, but can't see past all the BS hyper hype.
@@markorchard2272 Think you’ve got the T50 numbers wrong there. Should be 986kg, 650hp, 12,100rpm
I think you may be off here, as the Valkyrie competes with the AMG PROJECT 1 and Rimac competes with Evija. Jesko is just another mega car in the ranks of Bugatti etc.
That car fights back! Awesome machine. Saw it at GoodWood. The sound is intense, then you get that 2000hp Rimac and Lotus that look brilliant but are just, odd, being silent.
The Rimac doesn't even look brilliant, it just looks conservative and odd. The Evija looks great from the back.
@@garosama4517 Oh yes it does, it's also for a much better designed interior over the Lotus and will age better.
@@marksapollo EVs won't age well anyway, because all they do is be faster than the one before it. The Rimac will be forgotten as soon as the next 3000hp EV hypercar arrives.
I love how friendly and easy-going the driver is, ha-ha. Just a chill guy!
That bar has been reset!! This is another Mclaren F1 moment.
Ford did it a decade earlier. If only we could have actually seen a Ford powered lotus. One can only imagine what the car landscape would have looked like today.
@AVIO before the F1. It was a planned gt40 successor. Its a pretty interesting story
So they didn’t do it
@@casematecardinal So ford did absolutely jack shit. Look at OP's comment and say it with me: this is another mclaren f1 moment.
@@jonnyj. except they did. My point is that if ford had put that car into production it would have drastically altered the course of history. Your inability to grasp the concept that I'm presenting says more about you than me. It could have meant we got a much faster f1 and so on and so on into the modern day. So pull your head out of your ass and take a hike.
That is one of the best sounding cars I've ever heard. the mix of engine and electric motor. Gives it a beautiful beastly sound. sounds like something from another world.
Chills and shit 🤯
Those were the days bikes ruined cars for me
One of the best track focused- road legal car ever.👍
THE best
Which means it's not a necessarily good car.
Track focused cars don't need to be road legal, so why even bother to compromise on it and ruining it with road use stuff when you could go full GT3?

I Love Aston Martin For Building Works Of Art Like This, Incredible
That's a LIVELY ride on a damp driveway for sure, and my goodness, it does sound like a good old n/a F 1 car !!
Need about 3 minutes of the sound outside the car ! That F1 sound is one of a kind !
“f1 inspired” when it was supposed to go to le mans and wec but stroll said no
Such a disappointment
It wasnt anything to do with Stroll buying and them going into F1. It was due to the collaboration between IMSA and WEC opening up the LMDh and LMH convergence to be BOPed together. The Valkyrie was to be sold as a customer car alongside the works teams to make back the cost of the development. With the cheaper option of LMDh being offered to run at Le Mans and in WEC, Aston Martin decided to pull the plug as it would not be cost efficient and pumping that much money into the WEC as well as F1 and GT racing without the customer buybacks could probably sink Aston Martin into the red AGAIN. It sucks but its understandable.

I love that GTP left us over 20 years ago and manufactures are still trying to develop road going examples. Well done!
Gorgeous looking and sounding car, but I can't help thinking it has far too much power. Every time the driver put his foot down the back stepped out or the wheels span, or both. It seems like it took a lot of attention not to just crash it. Can't help wondering if it would make the car practically useless in most conditions.
I mean, I don't think the designers had practicality at the top of the list of priorities with this one...

The reason why 1100 horsepower at 11000 RPM is so impressive is because it's quantitatively more difficult to produce that power at that many RPMs than to produce them with two turbos at 8000 RPM.
Wow, this machine will blatantly kill anyone who drives this on the road without the respect it deserves. It’s clearly very edgy. Fantastic for the track of course but at slower speeds it’s going to be lethal in the hands of a rich numpty
