    My SIBO was due to the high ingestion of fiber over the years, which I had been told by numerous nutrition experts that was what you needed to eat.

      True sibo-d, the one that causes high hydrogen or hydrogen sulfide (not methane) levels, have been shown to be caused by a cascade of events stemming from food poisoning bacteria. Check out the Rupa Health video: "Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Sibo The Difference, Overlap and Shared Symptoms". This video features Dr. Mark Pimentel. The herbalist (Todd Mansfield) in the video you're presently watching refers to Dr. Pimentel (5:56) as the guru on sibo research.

    The term methane dominant sibo has been renamed as Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth (IMO) because of the fact that it is an overgrowth of archaea which are not bacteria.

    The newest breath test that Dr. Mark Pimentel uses in his practice can conclusively (98%) diagnose either Sibo or IMO. It can also tell if it is autoimmune related to food poisoning. He shows the pathway, on one of his Rupa health videos, from food poisoning to sibo-d. But sorry to say, they focus on a pharmaceutical based protocol that focuses on the end of the pathway.

    Do you suggest using guar gum with Rifaximin for methane smithii?

    I have an INSANE amount of gas and it always happens right after i eat or drink something. I've had this for decades but i suspect that sugar alcohols have made it worse. I'm going to have a glucose breath test but I am not even sure glucose is my problem. It's so annoying that this is so common but even when I told this GI about my symptoms, he seemed very skeptical... And I exhibit CLASSIC symptoms!

    Is Rifaximin and neomycin the main antibiotics for IMO

    This is where I'm already confused. I tested positive for methane dominant SIBO, but I barely have constipation.

      Do you have belching? Also, which lab was used, and which kind of test?

      You can have methane sibo without constipation I believe. It's just one of the main symptoms.

    • @praetoriancorps
      @praetoriancorps Před rokem +1

      @@NateB I have a lot of belching, I got tested at a lab in Utrecht, Sibo or IMO isn't something that is well known among doctors here in Europe, atleast not when I got tested, but knowledge about it is slowly spreading.
      @AmzMusic11
      Yes, I heard so too. I also heard that people can be constipated even tho they have bowel movements every day.

    • @Vgallo
      @Vgallo Před 5 měsíci

      @@praetoriancorps yeah I wasn’t constipated either , up until recently I was quite regular, but I have been constipated over the last 3 weeks and I did my test 3.5 weeks ago and tested positive.
      So you definitely don’t have to be constipated, but I would say be careful cuz if you eat the wrong thing it can switch overnight like it did for me, personally I think it was sugar

      Same. I tested positive for methane SIBO and didn't have constipation these last 8 months. I only experience nausea. I'm on day 10 now of antibiotics.

    I had a GI Map Test (from a Functional Med DR in LA)….i have leaky gutt, SIBO & h pylori 😞 The Dr put me on soooooo many herbs & a low fodmap diet. I am slowly getting better but constipation & bloating is a major issue.
