Such a well though-out and engineered design. Seems a bit like the 'Mini AeroScout', but a much better in the build details. For example, the landing gear is not just bent wire.
It's great to see ESky designing and introducing new airplane models, particularly a nice beginner plane like this. The unusual servo plugs is a bit odd, but might mean they're a new digital servo design.(?)
BTW: See ESky has the Eagle (EYAS) back "in-stock". Hmm ...
Whoa, LOS footage, cool. I came close to pulling the trigger on this, but my full size Eyas is still my only ESky (an amazing plane). I figured that for it's size and price, there are lots of good planes out there. I just finished my small Ranger VTOL and maidened it, and for my even smaller plane fix, a Cartoon Corsair from XK getting the FPV and FC treatment.
Thanks man, the video is truly remarkable
Nice review Keith. Keep up the good work. I wonder if it could stay under 250 grams with a F411WTE FC and a tiny camera? I guess you'd have to figure in 3 new 3 wire servos.
I think it would be hard to keep it under 250g fitted with "real" electronics. Maybe not impossible. It would certainly need more power too I think. There's talk of a larger version of this V2, closer to the original Eagle/Aeroscout. I think that would be better suited for FPV. I'm looking forward to seeing that one if they release it at some point. Someone shared a picture of the original Eagle along with both the larger and this "mini" V2 together, from a hobby expo in China so we know it exists, but that's about all... lol static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/9/1/7/9/2/a17216539-8-20230421_100611.jpg
Hello Keith, I’d really like to get into your level and quality of FPV flying. But I need some direction. I’m a very seasoned RC pilot already. Do you have any plans in place to teach the “what” and the how to’s on your channel? Or do you have anything in place already that teaches the basics and what to buy to begin?
I watched your vids on the Walksnail items. But I’m having trouble figuring out what all I’d need to get started.
Any direction would be most appreciated. Looking forward to visiting with you sometime.
Awesome little airplane, Keith! Really nice flying!!! 😃
It looks to have a place for a FPV camera in the front... Is that right?
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks! Yeah there's a hole cutout in the front with a plastic plug that fits in it. I think it mentioned it could be used for an FPV camera, but it would have to be something rather small and light. With a plane as light as this one that's not real powerful to start with, the weight will add up quick... lol I'm sure it would handle one of the little all-in-one camera/vtx units though for some close range FPV around the yard. Could be fun!
This looks pretty good 🎉
Starter planes have come so far since I was a kid! Tried something cheap about 20 years ago and it was so underpowered that it never even flew at full charge. Felt pretty ripped off and it hurt my opinion of RC planes for a good long time.
Definitely! When I started flying around 1996-97, electric planes were not really a viable option. I started with nitro trainers at an AMA flying club. It was a blast and I loved it, and been hooked on R/C flying ever since. It was so expensive though! Especially for a kid back then, saving allowance all year to buy a kit, then working on that while you saved for an engine and a radio later... lol
If we could stop that eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! sound, it might be a good plane for me. Perhaps moving the prop further away from the fuse?
I didn't find it all that loud when it's not right up close. Esky is apparently changing the motor/prop that will be included though, I think they said to a higher KV motor and two blade prop. That might make a difference.
