that photo of Bonggo that you showed just sums up Ateneo this coming 87. Look at the shooting form. and he takes alot of those threes which more often than not, he misses. the only other move he has is driving to the left with a "bahala na si batman" attitude. Celis, seems like he forgot hoy to play basketball. Quitevis? The guy should just give up his slot. Ong, no comment. Amos, 3 points na lang nga kaya niya nawala pa. The only bright spot is Espinosa who has shown significant improvement from last season. everyone else, back to square one.

Nico I really needed this video. It has been frustrating to watch the Pinoy Liga Cup and the Filoil Tournament. But what do you think of Ian playing at the Point? Because I notice every time he's at the point, Ateneo struggles compared to when Bahay or Lebron is at the point. What do you think?
I actually like Ian this year. He has gotten better and his three-point shooting is needed especially that Jared Brown has left the nest. Coach Tab also prioritizes seniors over the young players (unless they're overwhelmingly good)

It's really tough if a player goes from a season with limited minutes and limited touches to biglang may major role ka na sa team. But they'll be fine, let them be used to the roles that they have. And hopefully Balogun is fine. And let's be patient to Kyle Ong, he's not on the lineup last season tapos this season, he could have a big role, let him develop slowly but surely he will be a reliable option.

My own view is many in the league have caught up to tab, which is good for (phl) basketball as a whole. Kudos to tab for setting that.standard lol

Nothing on that Lineup is pure Filipino. LMAO
System will always be there, the ateneo players need to focus more on individual skills and body conditioning. Once the pool is complete that's the perfect time for them to developed they're chemistry. But one thing is sure, the bigman slot is really thin for Ateneo. Maybe there's one more last surprise recruit for them (bigman).

Filipinos are so exaggerated it's only a preseason and you can see that the rostertheir using right now is so experimental and last season they just started building their roster since Ange graduated and others and rookies came last year like amos and the other 6'4 kid. I can see they they're just going through a phase rn. And a lot of rookies got recruited again this season as well l. I'm not really expecting big things rn but when i watch i can see who's gonna be consistent and has a lot of potential in the future.
Uhm preseason games are important. Konov reason for eliminating Ateneo from his choices is his desire to contend for a title. Now, Mason left for the same reason. Nobody likes losing on any level or arena, even if it were preseason games.
@@frantzrivera55 Yea you can say it's important. In the sense of trying who you gonna play and experimenting your line up. But not necessarily to win. UP and DLSU is already a solid team before this preseason they're just adding some young players. But Ateneo is different almos every player are still nee to the system a lot of rookies FSA graduated almost all from the Championship is gone so it's a total Rebuild for Ateneo. You make it seem like because Mason left they're not a Championship contender team. They still are as long as the system is there nothing new to the coaching staff just new players.
@@skilleddog2968 Your insights are all valid but you might have missed my point. It is important to win games or at least win a few to keep the team's morale afloat. Winning or being competitive requires not only the system or preparation but also the materials (talent) to run the system. And if you're losing, in this case winless in the entire pinoyliga and filoil, you will lose out on quality recruits and players moving out of your team.
@@frantzrivera55 Yea you're right but I think mase didn't leave because of competitiveness of the team. It's the acads he's been having a lot of problem with that in Ateneo. I think he's a bit culture shocked.

Yup, no more CTB advantage, reminds me also of Ateneo’s WV coach with the same initials (Coach Tai Bundit) after a couple of successful seasons basa na ng local coaches and lost his edge.

Historically, Ateneo has a solid backcourt to facilitate coach tab's system. Wala din shot creator ang Ateneo. For my opinion, mason amos needs to attack to the basket more.

Let’s not beat around the bush here. From the get go, there has been no preparation for S87 since we lost out on the F4 last season. For the first how many games of PinoyLiga, it was as if it was the first time the team played basketball since S86. Gamber, Ong and De Luna look as if they’re allergic to going to the gym. We look for prospects abroad who won’t join the team until next month. Our one and only FSA is worse than Obasa (who was already worse than Ikeh).
How can we even expect this team to gain any sort of chemistry? Enough excuses. No more “they were busy with acads”. No more “we don’t have a complete roster”. No more “we don’t have an FSA”. This crop of players sucks and we are going 0-16 in the next season.

Laki pa ren budget for recruitment. I doubt mas 'mura' abroad compared to locally. Kots palang, I won't be surprised if a veteran and well-accomplished internationalist like tab has the best package among the coaches, and by a mile

Ateneo loses a lot in the recruitment battle because of the need to actually study and pass courses. I am not saying that the other schools don’t require their student athletes to attend classes, study and pass their subjects. They have some academic requirements also. However, the classes and requirements at Ateneo to keep playing are pretty tough. Most young boys who just want to play basketball would rather go to other schools rather than deal with these requirements at Ateneo.

For me, 'anomaly' to sa admu. Mas mataas pa qpi requirement sa athlete kumpara sa regular student. Meaning mas mababa standards nila for their regular students
Kung pantay lang qpi for athletes and non-athletes,.phenoms like cj perez could've easily stayed sa admu
Btw let's not kid ourselves. Recruitment is about who gives the best offer. Kaya nga may nakukuha ren magaggaling na recruits admu, (even before), bec of superior offers. And personally, I think mas 'mahal' kumuha recruits from abroad compared to locals

sean quitevis just isnt talented enough to be held responsible for ateneo's offense. his role should really just be what joshua david is for dlsu, pressure on the opposing team's point guard, scrappy plays and catch-n-shoot. however, because this is not the ateneo of old, na maraming star power, he's expected to be bigger than what he could actually offer.
chris koon naman, is closer to dave ildefonso than a thirdy ravena/(totga)dwight ramos as a quote unquote "king eagle". i have very low expectations from him as the go-to-wing. he'd probably get a very quiet 17-20 pts on most games but, not to the extent of willing a game to a W, though.
mason amos, potential-wise/talent-wise, should be in the conversation for greatest ateneo big men of all time. but his résumé by the time he graduates wouldnt be like that of Rabeh, Greg, Nonoy because there's just not enough personnel to help him
