If you paid attention to his last couple years, Ben has zero interest in working in the NBA. the only debate here is is Ben willing to put in the work to be good again. He clearly answered that by being the biggest bum in the NBA.

At one point Ben was able to guard every position on the court. And that's what this team needs, a lock down defender. But man, it would be wild to see him in a Philly jersey again. If he did come back and win a title he would be able to right that wrong. But that's a big if......I'm on the fence with this one.

Y - everyone deserves a chance ! Why kick someone down when they already are mentally drained by the criticism of ESPN, social media and the 76ers fan base. If we actually gave him love and support and allowed him to get healthy, Ben Simmons was a great player for the 76ers starting out. It’s a shame what our fan base did to him. He can rebound and play D. He, in theory, would be a great starting power forward. In reality, I don't think he can get off the bench and out of his own head enough to accept the role he would be offered here.

Ben Simmons is a dominant scorer in the paint the mistake teams made was to try to make him a shooter that is not his game. He was also a great defensive player I would take him back so he could get assist, dominate the paint and defend as a 6'10 point guard. The only shot i would work on is his foul shooting and mid-range game (lost art in the NBA).
It's not the worst thing possible, but he's not dependable enough to start, and neither of our backup Centers can stretch the floor. On the other hand, the lack of spacing might not matter so much against the other teams second string. It would be a solid move with potential upside on a minimum contract assuming he can stay available. They wouldn't play the same exact role, but I wish we could have brought back Batum instead, insomuch as we need a big body who can pass.

It would only be a veteran minimum deal, and I don't see Simmons taking that, he is still young. Also, he probably has nightmares about getting booed in Philly, no way he would come back if he had 10+ choices.

Y with a caveat, the 76ers are to bring him in privately and have a serious discussion with him not only about ball but his life, then convey to him that it is going to be harder than before to earn those fans back. Offer to give help wherever he needs it that includes therapeutic. Bring his father in to have this conversation as well. Also, I have said this since it was first discovered that there was a situation with his shot. Ben can shoot he just chooses not to. Don't believe me? Watch the pickup games in the off season, remember the game he where he pulled up in the season opener nice smooth stroke, but there was no pressure and because he is ambidextrous this makes it more difficult for him mentally. I loved Ben, i thought he was L.B. part 2 but when he went through it here I had to let him go. If Ben can turn it around here in Philly at the end of his career, there is going to be statues of not only DrJ, A.I., Embiid, but Ben too. Philly loves a comeback story. Just think, if he comes back and locks down Tatum in the conference finals and holds him to 0 for the win.

Listen, this dude was .2 and .1 away from doing something no player in nba history has done, and he almost did it as a rook. That never done b4 thing 16pts 7reb 6asst 2stl 1blk . He had all of them in January of that season. Then he went on to make 3 all star teams b4 he was 24. What drives me crazy is watching the pick up games in the off-season, and they're all vs nba players. He shoots from everywhere, with every style of move there is. Step back 3s, driving, getting to the ft line, then doing a behind the back, to the right, and pulling up for the J. 3s from everywhere. Once the asses are in the seats, he gets in his shell. How many 3s for a 6 year career for a point guard, 12-13. Those are real 3s, the rest in his stats, are heaves as the time was running out. For the 6ers, in his career, I watched every game, he took no more than 8 real 3s in his 5-6 years. He picks up his Dribble at the ft line, and the defender just leaves him and helps elsewhere, while Ben stands at the ft line all by himself, looking for some1 to pass to. Head case, that is afraid of being seen shoot an airball. He doesn't realize 3 str8 airballs isnt worse than your defender leaving you at the ft line, after picking up his Dribble, standing looking to pass. It's not close either, the defender leaving him at the ft line, knowing he isn't gonna shoot, is as bad as it gets.
