I genuinely think that the reason the androids aren't as evil in this timeline as trunks' is because 16 is with them. He seems like a big moral booster.
In canon, Gero mentioned that he focused too much on making them strong and not enough on making them obedient. Note that the Future Androids weren't just eviller, but weaker.
'Course, this is the abridged version. So it could be either.
It's possible 16 did exist in future. But he was destroyed early on. Resulting in the Androids hating humanity.

I love 16's relationship to 17 and 18. They just enjoy him so much. It's really sweet.
I actually like the androids in this more than in the actual show

I like it too. They really make a cooperate team, unlike another dbz villains, who kill each other when they are no longe useful (vegeta and nappa, for example).
I like all the characters better in this rendition. They are all hilarious and yet stays true to or is augmented slightly from the show characters, for the better.

Well, as 16 states later, he is actually an android where 17 and 18 are actually cyborgs. Dr. Gero had nothing to save of his son, and in making 16 to be like him seemed to only remember his son liked birds. It is really sad.
I guess you could say 16 is simple-minded, the same with 19. But that's because they are androids programmed by Dr. Gero. If you want to call someone simple-minded, you only need look at the one who built them.

Actually Endgame and DBZ have same time travel rule. Trunks come back to the past, ended up creating new timeline instead of changing history. Just like Endgame

16's character in this is hilarious. 16 was actually my favorite character in the original story and tfs still retained that soul while adding loads of humor.

Therefore, rather innocently presenting Trunks with impressive knowledgeability as well as showing his skillful studious tendencies was bound to be something Lilac would be taken aback by.
The amount of jokes that don't make sense until future episodes are just fucking amazing. I love revisiting old episodes and being like "IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW."
