What would have happened if all the characters "snapped" out of existence at the end of Avengers: Infinity War instead stayed behind while the other heroes were gone? That's what one fan wondered -- and created a short video that explores the question in animated form, inspired by the forthcoming Disney+ series from Marvel Studios, What If...?. As with the comics, What If...? will tackle alternate universe stories where things played out a little differently than they did in the "main timeline," and it will give them a chance to reuse characters, some of whom may be the ones who have left the franchise by now.
Marvel's alternative reality animated series is kicking off with a premiere episode that imagines a world where Peggy Carter becomes Captain America, while Steve Rogers works with Howard Stark to become Iron Man. Before Endgame it seemed as though What If? was just taking a flight of fancy with this storyline; now, it seems like it could be a crucial epilogue to Avengers: Endgame's controversial ending.

@@jessicaonuigwe1356 Thor almost died multiple times from things certainly weaker than the stones, like the energy from Nidavellir's star or even direct combat with Thanos, so I'd only see him as a possible user in a situation where, after using the stones, he had access to an enchanted weapon like Mjolnir or Stormbreaker (since both have been shown to hate the ability to heal/resurrect him)

@@subfornoreason5105 I disagree with this. Wanda was close to killing Thanos in the movies because she was squishing his body with her powers. Thor, was able to kill Thanos, but Thanos was in a more willing state to be captured and Thor did it unexpedectly, a Battle Ready Thanos wouldn't allow something like that to happen to him. Strange wouldn't pull off anything inhumane to kill Thanos either. He swore an oath as a Doctor to do no harm and I believe he still would stand by that rule somewhat. Even if Strange wouldn't kill Thanos, he'd find the best way to do it which would cost time. The only person that could effectively kill Thanos in an effeicent manner is Wanda.

On Scott Lang getting dusted: I thought it was implied that the rules in the quantum realm are different than in our world (meaning infinity stones used in our world doesn't affect the lifeforms in the quantum realm) which is what saved Scott from getting dusted.

Scott Lange wouldn’t have been snapped in this scenario either. He was in the quantum realm where time works differently. That’s why he was saved from the snap, because when it happened he was in the quantum realm and he was not part of the collective universe that got snapped.

The reason Scott survived the Snap is because he's in the quantum realm. If he wasn't in there, he would've been snapped away too. Dr. Strange knew he was about to enter the Quantum Realm, so he ended the battle of Titan by surrendering the Time Stone to make sure Scott is inside the Quantum Realm when Thanos snapped his fingers.

I have an alternate theory on that. I believe Scott wasn’t able to be snapped either time because he wasn’t so much in the universe as he was in another dimension of some sort by going sub-atomic or whatever you call it. There was no relative time or space where he was.
