I think the Seychelles went with "One third on each edge" because that's just the simplest way to draw it. Children can draw a rectangle and divide two sides into roughly thirds. And it also makes things so much easier for anyone else too.

Just a few notes:
The German flag is black, red and gold (not yellow, and no white)
The spider crest is for Black Widow, not Spider-Man.
And the crosshair was hawkeye
Gold is the heraldic term for yellow.
But nobody ever complains that in heraldic terms, white is called silver.

A tip for remembering the difference for the Ireland and Ivory Coast flag, is that Irish people stereotypically like green, so the put green closes to the flag pole. I also a bit dyslexic and get them confused all the time, but helps a lot!
I have a very similar way of remembering it, Ireland has the whole leprocon and leaf thing which are green, so they put the green first.
I actually love the three German-speaking nations flag. I'd just change the Swiss cross to an Iron Cross.

The deal with the yellow cross for Wales is St. David's Cross, an alternative Welsh flag that's a yellow cross on a black field (just imagine England but with Pittsburgh Steeler colour). Dewi Sant being Wales' companion to George, Andrew, and Patrick, it is the most logical way to incorporate the Principality into the Union Flag, short of changing the blue to black (which would still keep Andrew's saltire argent).
a helpful tip for Ireland and Cote d'Ivoire (ivory coast) is that the ire is the green band. IREland has green first and cote dIvoIRE has green last

in chile we do someting similar, when our nacional day is close all the houses have to put the chilean flag outside so everyone can see it, if you dont do it you can get a ticket.
My family flew the Norweigan flag alongside the US flag and on several occasions we had people mistake it for the confederate rebel flag, needless to say, we stopped flying the Norweigan flag after the 3rd or 4th instance and now it's just on the wall in my room. It's hilarious but also very sad that people actually think the Norweigan flag is somehow the rebel flag.
