A lot of people talk about John Lynch and how he doesn't have any experience as a front office executive, but people don't understand that he's not going to be thrown into an office and asked to build a team. He's going to have help from more experienced executives. The only thing standing in the 49ers way now is Paraag Marathe and Jed York. If Jed York does step aside and leave all the football decisions to football people, Marathe will still be there to interfere. Marathe knows very little about the game of football, yet is included in on football decisions.

I don't think people understand that the GM is mostly just the final decision maker. His staff under him is doing most of the dirty work finding players and evaluating them. GM makes final decision on who he finds as the best fit. Also I want to add, I wouldn't doubt the guy who has a degree from Stanford...don't think he lacks the intellect to pull of being a good GM.

But Glazer mentioned Lynch bringing in guys to help him out, who turned out to be Adam Peters and Martin Mayhew, and he’s made almost all the right moves since. Yes, he missed on Thomas and Foster in his first draft, but he made up for it by drafting Bosa and signing Alexander before this season.
