been waiting for this, Ive started playing left back as right footed. Learned a lot from this video
Same bro
I am a right footed LWB, so this was so fun and helpful. Love the every touch analysis series.
good game, appreciate the highlights and self-critique.
i would like to see Matt be a lot more aggressive going to goal - not always looking for the low risk open pass, going outside, going back, etc. you mentioned this on that one touch in center mid. if you're playing left back and you're up the field, then start looking middle for passes, give and go's, take somebody off the dribble, at least get in trouble with the coach a couple of times.
i would love to see more one touches, too. from teammates as well.
so, head has to be up. if someone comes at you, then you have to be ready to go around or thru them. just you looking up more is going to cause the other team problems. maybe dawdle on the ball a bit, see what happens. of course, you have to be strong on the ball -- you can't just get stripped -- but you're at this level because you deserve to be here and you've earned it, and you're getting better and going higher, and you're going to be one of, if not _the_, most dynamic players on the field.
and play _into_ a crowd, into the middle, top of the box, force the defense to react, force them to trip someone, push someone in the back, made a judgment mistake, slip, trip, put something on frame from 25 out, etc. there are 8 opposing players staring at you? ok, great - find your guy for the give and go. you got both feet, inside and outside, deliver it - then go Messi-style and sprint to get the ball back and the defense will be in deep trouble. tell Prince you don't care if all 10 players are giving him a bear hug, he's getting the rock and he's getting it back to you.
if the pass doesn't get there, eh, they will try to break, but... you can try to win, or just not lose.
i like the idea of thinking a bit more like a UFC fighter - your job is not to win, it's to entertain _and_ win. if everybody parks the bus, there won't be any scouts or fans coming to your games, and we wouldn't be able to blame them.
once you're playing MLS and you want to play safe, fine, but until that happens, hopefully soon, then make everyone on the field know that you need to be respected, even at left back.
i don't necessarily agree on that last head ball. prob important to interfere with the offensive player at least a bit, but i don't think you need to win that header. going to ground is tough - if that happens, then you have to be back up and sprinting and grabbing and pulling and getting back goalside as much as possible.
good luck!
20/20 marks!
This video is perfect. My coach told me he was going to have me play an inverted left back position this season. Love your videos.
From your commentary in between the interval 4:50 to 5:00, you clearly mentioned that you too are learning more from watching your own game! Since its a win for both you and us the audience, we'd really appreciate if you keep on posting your game analysis videos on a regular basis man! Thanks a lot! Big fan sir!
Always loved your videos Matt. They have really helped with my understanding of the game, and watch them before games to help me tune in focused
Love to see these, thanks for sharing
I love your videos they have helped me a lot on my football journey and as a centre mid I especially love your new centre mid analysis videos, love from Scotland
Great video keep posting you don’t understand how much it’s helping us 😊😊😊😊😊
can’t wait for the pittsburgh analysis! need me another matt celebration
great content , we need more of that , very helpful
Love these videos keep them up :)
Hey Matt, thanks for the video, after a one and a half year stop due to a injury today I'm going back to play and your analysis are very useful. I think you played a really good game. The end of the game was a bit unlucky but well done.
Nice job. This is a great teaching aid!
Great video and very inspirational - imho great possession, positional and defensive play. I do hope Matt will consider cutting in and driving into goal once in a while - easier said than done - best wishes!
Heads up bro! You’re doing great. I’ve been playing right back this season and your videos have helped me a lot. Great analysis and content. 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Love your first half men! very creative. We were impress with ypur scanning reaction! Definitely a true Pro
your technique has improved so much over the years!!! you've become truly exemplary in the physcical, mental, tactical, and technical aspects of the game, keep up the great work.
Really enjoy this as a left-back!
Lets go matt you are my favorite soccer player keep up the good work
Great video and very composed performance
very helpful!
Can't wait to see your goal!
Excellent video and nice job in the match! Which video editing software do you use to create the circles and arrows?
Can you give us a short Tutorial on how to do those long throw-ins? From wingback to wingback 😅😊
The 'bump' around minute 13 is everything i need tosee to know that u are a rlly smart player
Nice performance
Can you let some of the clips play so we can see the full move and then pause it
Like how much you were driving with the ball especially in the middle
When playing the switch in the 70th minute playing the centerback was right because then the winger can push up and if the CB drives forward you gain a numerical advantage
14:49 in this moments the most dangerous ball is a firm cut-back, on the ground. Tha would get you any assists. U played great, very well rounded!
Can’t be punting the ball up bc there is minimal pressure. You gotta make plays you had the cdm open and then continue your run. First play I’m talking about. Good game tho mate
Ive see alot of analyse videos and i would like to see you for example at left back position to go inside and shoot out of the 16, but maybe thats not what the coach expects from you
Just a thing I picked up in the game here... not supposed to ask for a yellow for another player that in turn gets you a booking
matt, as a winger who gets grabbed alot, next time that a guy grabs you like that at 6:26 swat the crap out of his arm. ur not fouling as hes the one initiating the illegal contact and as long as ur not too vicious he'll remember not to try grabbing you
6:28 really nice play :)
Nice 👍🏿
Matt been Camawinging this season
Wow that goal 😂😂😂
Please can you tell us what is the use of gota training 🙏🙏🙏🙏@become elite
Is it better player opposite your dominant foot? Like as you right footed play on the left and left footed play on right side?
in europa you cann seeting on bank for example 4-5 LIGa
Could you show more off-the ball things you do like press, defensive positioning even if you don’t touch the ball. Maybe like an off-the ball only breakdown video. Feel like off-the ball knowledge is undervalued by youth players
And fasica training are they really useful please 🙏 🙏
16:27😭😭😂😂😂😂
Unfortunate with that second goal but you played really well this game
Amazing videos .
Matt , please stay wide when your team control the ball , you are much more useful on the side and prince is much more dangerous near the box but not when he stays wide . Don’t over pollute the central area , let CMs do what they have to do .
Pretty sure he is doing exactly what his coaches want otherwise he would...
Or maybe his instructions are for him to be inverted instead of hugging the line?
@@6REN Maybe .
I’ve only gotten into soccer recently and i’m trying to get a better understanding of the defensive side of the game as a whole. When you are pressured and someone runs at you, you don’t usually try and get past them or move you just pass to open space. Why? I don’t understand the game enough to get it.
Just depends. Stop trying to understand it, it just goes from play to play, and your confidence as well.
You can do so many things, there’s not 1 thing you can do - it really comes down to how far can your imagination go in order to setup your team and yourself - it’s all creativity and technique
It comes down to two things, possession and odds of success. The other team can't score on you if they don't have the ball, so possessing is often what you want to prioritize. An easy pass is 80-90% successful, while a heads-up 1v1 might be 50%. If the other player is better than you, or has a better position at the moment, your chance of winning the duel goes down. Conversely, if you can see the defender coming and/or know where he's going (examples: when Matt talks about the defender's momentum), then your % goes up and those are when you want to make a move or take space forward.
There's such massive gaps in the channels that could have been exploited in this game, for example if you pause at 11:26 there's a huge gap between full back and centre back.
You mean the opponents? Yeah, I think the best play is to drop the ball back. Indy had two players on Matt, which creates space inside.
@@shantiescovedo4361 Yeah, the lack of penetrating runs is hurting Matt's team tactically. It's why they aren't creating chances. Everything is being played in front of the defense.
Yo dawg…..analyze Messi destroying MLS, how many goals would she score against an USL team. (3+ per game?)
❤❤❤
Is this bad season having a mental toll on u?
Why aren’t you at the rowdies game🙁🙁
I was wondering the same thing! Was hoping to see Matt live
Why would the ref go blue ?
Whenever I see. Ur video u never win
😩
you deserve to play mls and get called up by us
Bro thinks hes Camavinga playing all these position🤣
You play too scared ... you need to be more aggressive and take more goal shots !... great players don't blend in...they stand out !!!
Exactly, he always goes for the easiest option and never takes any risks, whether its with his passes, his shots or the runs he makes. But at the same time that explains why he can' t make it out of division 2 football.
@@smnomad9276 go hard or go home...it's all on the line...the time is now..in this very moment... destiny is in your hands...scouts don't search for regular players but only the ones who willing to make a difference and play with intelligence and passion...stand out...never blend in...and you'll be noticed 💯
I've been watching your vids for a couple of years. You do progress and step up in physically, technicality wise but you are missing the following:
- you have to risk more, playing flat will not progress your game. It's true that waiting for your oponent to do a mistake and counter attack seems the wise & safe choice but being able to attack, counter attack will allow you to be a well rounded player that creates a lot of risks for the oponent.
More precise:
- 1 touch pass, back hill passing ? you had several key moments and did not do it
- be faster when taking decision, try to pass between the lines, had several key moments to do that but you wasted the occasions
- attack the free space, don't receive the ball and just pass back. Very bad progression.
- you can also leave your position and attack the free space after receiving the ball, there are several key moments where you passed the ball and did not act fast to attack a new free space, give a new path for receiving the ball for your team mates or just attack the free space to draw the oponent and create space
Basically what I'm implying is that you need to believe more in yourself. Relax your mind, take chances and try to progress the game. Reacting to a game it's good but it's consuming and wasting a lot of energy. Try to act and make the oponent team react that will waste their energy. Joggle between acting & reacting.
Also I do understand you are getting satisfaction from checking small objectives like: just receive well the pass, defend well, pass the ball well, switch with the other winger, strike the ball hard in the box and so on but you are forgetting the major Objective: Scoring.
Good analysis
Do you play pro.
Not to be rude, but I thought you were playing in the mls? Can someone help me figure it out
This is USL. The 2nd Tier in the U.S.
Didn’t he used to play mls? Why did he downgrade
@@zainyardo1136 he's never played in mls, this is the highest tier he's played (not trying to say that as an insult, it's still pretty high level football, all things considered)
I hope I don't come across wrong but that center midfield of yours is terrible: I don't mind setting up play with such high WB's but if you do that you also need support from your midfielders, especially when you play with a 2 line. They need to come closer to you and open up more passing opportunities, otherwise you're forced to pass it down the line even when it's not really on, as you happened to do a few times in this game. It might be your coach's directions, maybe because he's aware his CM's aren't that good technically speaking, but at this point he might want to consider a different formation altogether.
Not gonna lie I’ve been watching Matt for over 7 years now and i don’t think he’s ever had a winning season… honestly sad to see
2016 with OC Blues, 2020 with FC Tulsa, and 2021 with FC Tulsa as well were all winning seasons where I made the play-offs
First
You think your team had a great game ? Your team didn’t create one chance
Did you watch the whole game?
Did you see the stats at half time sherlock?
They had 11 shots and 2 of those shots were on target.
Way too many mistakes. 1:51 shouldve just popped it to the left wing 1st time pass. You had popped the ball anyways.
2:24 exact same mistake. For someone who practices all these "simple 1st time passes" for hours on days you sure are utilizing none of it!
3:05 shouldve done a simple pass and go with your striker. Their back line in so high depth they left their defensive third completely vulnerable
Youre way to slow to react when high pressed. And the technique and tactics for quick play is clearly not there
