Here's the thing about falling: It just happens. There's no run-up to falling. There's no warning. One minute you're vertical and the next minute you're not. It's truly one of the weirdest experiences ever. I'm lucky to be in reasonably good shape, so (knock wood) I've never been seriously injured, just seriously embarrassed.

Oh Neal... your mother being an Irish woman made me laugh. I’m Australian and we’re about 6 generations away from being Irish but my 89 year old mother does the exact same thing. Funerals seem to be the outings of choice for their age group. When Debbie Reynolds died, we told her at a family lunch and she laughed. I swear she’s just ticking off people she’s outlived at this stage. It was very embarrassing.

Neal seems like that guy who is a bit awkward, makes odd comments however you know if you dated him, he'd always find a way to make you laugh and if you gave him feedback to improve on something, he'd try for a month and fall back to old habits. He'd keep trying though. He seems lovely.

New Message, I have a side job where I help an elderly blind woman with her tech needs. She broke her femur in a fall while staying at her daughter’s earlier this year (daughter was pregnant and she was there for the birth, ended up being hospitalized while daughter underwent c-section) and just called me from the hospital last week to inform me that she fell and broke her cervical while on vacation. We both laugh and joke about how from now on she’s to be swaddled in bubble wrap when going out of town. She’s the first one to start cracking jokes about herself while in traction. Hahahaha! I love that poor, clumsy lady.

I would say that the standard retirement age of 65 is the official version of old; however, each person becomes old at different ages because of the many factors that make up that person’s life: diet, DNA, attitude, health, etc. I’m 62 and some days I feel old and sometimes I wonder how I got here so quickly.
