    Great job. If you mill an 8x then cut it in half to make 2x4’s then the 2x4’s are actually less then 4”... lol by like a 32nd of an inch. So what I do it in pattern I set it to drop down to 4 and then 4. But I only drop to the first 4 when I make my width and then I finish squaring the can’t then I come back and drop the next 4 (making two 4” blocks) basically my pattern looks like this:
    1
    1
    1
    1
    4- cut to first to make width, cut my height,
    4- flip it back to width side and then cut another 4 to make two 4x’s then turn again
    Then cut 222222 all the way down. Wicked smaht

    I know Imperial measurements are still the industry standard, but I'm wondering if there is a Metric toggle for your measurements as that might help at times. But, that said it looks like it ain't broke so no need to fix too for your methodology and how you use the machine. Woodmizer really does need to give you a bit of a royalty for any one bought as you are a very good spokeswoman for them.

    I must admit that this was all a bit beyond me, but still interesting to watch. Does the blade guide move in and out automatically to following the log shape, and does the de barking scriber do the same? Also, is there a safety system to prevent the blade from running into the dogs when cutting the last boards? You are very clever at spinning the logs around. Most of the mills I have seen fix the logs on a rolling table, and the saw blade is vertical. Turning the log is done by hand. These old mills were used mainly to cut English oak, and the smell was wonderful. the sawyers took their time to align the log to cut the best quartered figure even when slab sliced, so the centre boards had good flame figure. The outer boards were used to make gates, posts or framework, and other parts used for turning.

    Maybe I am overthinking this, but it would be nice if the Woodmizer Accu Set II could be upgraded to voice activated , instead of manually typing in the measurements. Just like when you have , for example, Alexa, in a Car; Just say " Accu Set, cut me a 1x12 x10' The computer voice activated program would automatically measure the size of the cut based on the size of the log, and cut the board . Would seem a lot simpler that punching in all those numbers,

  • @mikerubynfs
    @mikerubynfs Před rokem +1

    Does the Accuset allow for blade width? I used to look after an automatic circular saw, we measured the blade width entered that and the m/c would add that to dimensions. It confused some operators as they would work out the amount of boards from a sheet and the m/c would refuse to do it. If the cut widths were added in then the total would be greater than the sheet size, m/c knew best!
