I love your unpretentious approach. Instead of focusing on comparing your work to others, you focus on enjoying the process. It gives me more courage to try my hand in a group or public forum which I have always been reluctant to do. Thank you!

I can be scary but I have met a lot of nice people through art. Thanks for the kind comment.

It was such a pleasure to watch how your painting changed as you went along. I use colored pencils as well but definitely not to this extent!! What you are able to create with only pencils is amazing!! Your picture is beautiful!!

I also knit and do fiber arts. Knitters often talk about process versus product perspectives; people who just like knitting vs people who want the scarf or sweater at the end. I think this applies to art for many of us as well…it’s one thing to focus on the finished painting at the end (product), but I think the lifelong joy is more to be found in the PROCESS of painting, drawing, etc. I looked at the link for the gardens…what a great place to go paint! I enjoy your videos because your focus is really on having fun and enjoying the process.

For sure! I get less frustrated when I just enjoy the process. Even making the videos is a form of art and story telling for me. I enjoy that aspect of creating as well. So thank you for your kind words about these videos. I wish I had more time to devote to it but I'm glad I at least get to do some.

I draw better than I paint . I’ve heard it said that if you can draw you can paint but using a brush is different and watercolour can be hard to work with as it has a mind of its own. And so I will use watercolour pencils to combine my love for drawing with my unskilled hand with a paint brush. Thank you for this inspiring video

It's a great combination. So many interesting possibilities with the marks.

OMG, this is very beautiful. And the way you describe your process… I really do understand you. I often feel the same, while I‘m painting, drawing.
I love to use watersoluble pencils. But to combine it with coloured pencils sounds great. I am definitely going to try it.

Your picture turned out beautiful. I liked what you said about how we each have our own personal syle. I find this to be true. Over the years that I have been painting I have found no matter what medium I use you can tell that they are my paintings because of the style. I also love the way you narrate your videos.

Thanks Ann! 😊 It is fun to try to pick out the similarities between old and new works. Kind of like picking out similarities between old and new photographs of people. Some traits refine over the years but they're there.

You're totally unpretentious and nobody does what you do! The part where you outlined your composition was really helpful too!

I'm glad you are liking the videos. I was as going to talk more about how I did a pre-sketch with graphite but I found out I didn't hit record on the camera for that part. Whoops!
