  • In this video I am visiting inakustik the manufacturer of HiFi cables at all levels, power products and music production and re-distribution. They are based in a stunning area in South Germany.
    I am visiting them for a second time to learn about AC power quality and how it can affect the sound quality of a HiFi system. Part of this is the theory behind the problem. The second part is learning about the inakustik power products that help solve these problems.
    Huge thank you to inakustik for allowing me to visit them again

    Thanks for watching the video, please remember this is a complete one man production in terms of the video and audio work. My intention was to feature more in the video myself, however I forgot two very important microphone adaptors so only had one working microphone so had to shoot the video with only ever one person speaking. Just upgraded my PrimaLuna EVO300 integrated amp with a better quality power cable (unfortunately another brand as I have only just come across Inakustik) and the difference was amazing. Mind blown! More clarity, definition & resolution. More spaciousness. More musical details. Thought this may have been snake oil but am now completely sold on improving your power source for significant improvements in music quality. Timely and excellent video on an important and often overlooked subject in our HiFi systems. Will now be looking more closely at the Inakustik solutions however they are not inexpensive but can see from your video the quality and engineering that goes into each product. Good German engineering just like my Porsche 928 :-) Thanks

    I've been contemplating buying an active grounding device made by Telos. Seeing all those 11 volts coming off one of the ground RCA out terminal of a CD player (8 mins 35 secs into the video), that was enough for me to "pull the trigger" on getting the Telos GNR. The unit is second-hand to suit my budget (AUD$12K for a brand new GNR) and the dealer is so confident of Telos build quality that I am getting a three year warranty instead of the standard 3 months warranty on second-hand gear.

      @PursuitPerfectSystem  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Sorry yes the DC offset gets fixed - that puts the mains in symmetry and not offset but that wasn't what the first test was showing, it was showing AC couples to DC through the primary and secondary parts of the transformer and you cant fix that, but instead they fix the noise upstream so noise doesn't go through the component through the coupling. I am trying my best to explain it :)

    Why wasn’t the same demo/test performed again plugged into their power box?

    • @PursuitPerfectSystem

      That wouldn’t have changed anything, the test was just showing there is a voltage on the signal ground because of capacitive coupling in the power supply showing the AC mains is “connected” to the analogue circuit. Nothing will change that it’s part of the design. That’s where the noise lives in the circuit. It was creating real world context for the problem they were explaining.

    Another interesting and informative video Terry but in truth I doubt if more than 1% of your viewership will have the disposable income to spend on products like this, particularly as the whole power issue in hi-fi is such a contentious one. You say you heard an improvement but didn't state it was a night and day one, so back to the law of diminishing returns. Again I say, how many "Average Joe's" out there are in a position to spend thousands on power products and cables for a marginal increase in sound quality ? Fascinating stuff, nevertheless. However, to be fair to yourself, you do cover kit from the affordable to the high end, so for most of us it's either, "Yes, I could go for that", or just merely dream.😊

      Thanks Bart, I cant remember exactly what I said but pretty sure I said huge difference, there was a huge difference with the power products in and out - but I didn't want to go into full explanation mode because its not what I created the video for. It was meant for "infotainment" and then people have to discover these things for themselves through their own testing. Not taking anyones word for it, testing it themselves. That is what I believe in very strongly.

    Their equipment and cables appear really well made. People I trust have raved about their power conditioner.
    The technical discussion was painful however. Interference on the primary. Sure. Yes capacitive coupling will pass the high frequency on most transformers. Saying the secondary is DC is wrong.
