  • Dad was extremely confused. The confusion was building on itself and he was becoming extremely frustrated. I tried to help him clear his mind for a second (closing his eyes) and this time he was able to recover his composure and reach a moment of lucidity. It was a heartwarming transformation over 8 minutes.

@@slimkim2506 I too watched it with my Mom & you're right it is sad. But for all of those who come after us & will experience these same situations with their loved ones, these videos are informative. There are increases in cognitive diagnoses such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia & others. For those of us who choose to keep our loved ones at home, whether by choice or because of the cost of Nursing Homes usually requiring a full time aide or nurse, a Memory Care Facility or Full Time Skilled Care, people need to know what they're getting into by making the choice Dan & his family have made.

I bumped across your family's page and I don't normally comment. But I simply had to. Your patience and care for him is both breathtaking & soothing for me. 😊I'm grateful that you're sharing your experiences/conversations with your dad because it triggers many warm memories of my mom!
My mom went to heavena last December and the last few days of her earthly existence was the hardest for my sister and I! These videos remind me of our conversations over the last few years and although I didn't think to record her I really should've she was so intelligent, funny, scolding and loving in the same 3 minute conversation.😊
Continued blessing and strength to your family.

Hey Dan, my name is Dan too. I love watching you interact with your dad! He reminds me a lot of my wife's late grandpa who had dementia too. I spent a lot of time with him before he died. Your patience is so admirable Dan. My 86 year old mother is starting beginning stages, which is why I’ve followed you for quite awhile now. I’m trying to learn patience. The other day she asked me which Seattle Mariners newscaster left the pregame show and why (she’s a huge Mariners fan, never misses a game) I said I don’t know mother. She continued on, and this happens more often now. I actually got her the Alexis Echo so she could ask the weather forecast (another constant topic to overcome daily). Huge mistake! I realized I just need to get more patience especially after spending 3 hours trying to explain how Alexis works. It’s difficult at times, but as the only daughter it’s now my responsibility to take care of her. God bless you guys and thank you for a lot of insight to this debilitating disorder.

I wish when my grandmother was still alive I would have thought of such a simple thing as closing your eyes and relaxing to have made life easier. Hope this continues to work well with your dad keep up the good work and know you may have touched on something no one else has thought to do.
