The original Iron Lotus was like a raging fire, bombastic, angry and powerful, but the Key Ingredient version feels like the flames have already flickered out... the warmth is disappearing, and all that's left the sadness and grief underneath. Mili is doing an amazing job at revisiting old songs and completely changing the way they feel and sound. I'm looking forward to the next Key Ingredient song!!

Went from EGO to Distortion
couldnt help but notice that while lines that were repeated twice in the original (Ex: “Why did you leave?”) were only said once here while the line “You’re my everything” was repeated twice here when it was only sung once in the original. this rendition really emphasized the regret and despair Xiao experienced.

Turning on the caption you can notice that "you're my everything" is put in quotes which implies that it was Xiao's lover who actually said that where the repeat is Xiao herself saying it back to her lover.
There's also the line change from "I just wanna choose my fate" to "It's my fate" really hammers in the fact that Xiao made her choice and it's to be reunited with her husband.
In strictly Ruina terms, this one makes me think of two things.
Original Iron Lotus is angry and triumphant, Xiao loudly proclaiming her intentions to her foes with nothing but rage and resolve, so this is either Distorted Xiao's theme, with the same feelings but bathed in sadness and loss instead of rage and determination, or Xiao's theme once she wins. After burning down the Library, there's nothing left. She can't bring back Lowell like this. Nothing can. Xiao takes the books of her friends and staggers into the street, without an association or a friend, with only fire to serve her.
Vengeance is a fire that burns all. When you are done, all that will be left is ash.
Idk why, but the way I see this song is more of Xiao, reunited at last with Lowell after the LoR ending, singing to him all the feelings she once kept to herself
This version sounds like Xiao crying with all her flames gone at the end of the battle. Such a different emotion with the same lyrics I love it.
Distorted Xiao-
Someone connected that instead of saying "I bit my lip, said nothing." She repeated "You're my everything" and also changed "*and* sucked on maiyatang" was changed to "*we* sucked on maiyatang"
They also assumed this means alternate depiction of the event where she did speak and kissed him?

If the original Iron Lotus were fiery breath + anger + passion, this is the wasteland after the fire. Much more calm, and yet hopeless and out of energy. It's so good
I felt shivers when I heard the “you’re my everything” line repeat twice, I feel like this line was super important for many reasons, one being that it’s not repeated twice in the original and two being because no other line in this version repeats twice and three being because it seems to be the line that captures a majority of xiao’s emotions
It's really Important for me because the line its replacing is
"Before my thoughts began to speak
I bit my lip, said nothing"
Its Xiao finally being able to tell Lowell the goodbye she never was able to.

The little laugh at the start like laughing at her stupid past-self is truly wonderful. To me, i really feel the emotions as Cassie deliver the song for each word
"Greed is unlimited, freedom is limited", for some reason I have never heard this lyric in the original. It for some reason hits so incredibly hard in this version of the song where the tempo so completely different
It's the reality in The City. This is what humans in Library of Ruina's world have to do to survive.

You could think it by the fact of Xiao mourning Lowell's death. The fact that Lowell is dead means he's also free, whereas Xiao is bound to the pains of the world that Lowell succumbed to.

Yes, they should have been released and be more or less fine, but one of Xiao's subordinates did raise a point before they even entered the Library... Her superiors in Liu had by then ordered her to back off and leave the Library to the Hana Association, and Xiao was (from the perspective of other senior fixers) acting shamefully recklessly and emotionally compromised. That subordinate was saying that even if she survived, her career in Liu would be over, and at best Liu would be constantly at her heels and ruining any future endeavors for the rest of her life.

The boss battle where this theme song is composed for in Library Of Ruina is the most memorable fights in the game for me, especially with the story and relationship with the characters that packed along with fight.
Being able to listen to this version while recalling the experience from the blind run brings back the weight of realization, crumbling down, that the world within Project Moon's games isn't any different from our real world―it was blindingly burning bright, a flame full of passion that slowly spends our life as long as it continues ablaze within us.
Humankind is beautiful yet tragic existence.

These key ingredient versions really bring out the wonderful lyrics of Mili’s songs
After the fire is gone, all that's left are ashes and warm, glowing embers.
Feels like this version perfectly encapsulates what must be going through Xiao's mind as she falls in battle with the Library and joins her husband as another book.

This is so beautiful! Like the feeling of standing in the middle of an extinguished inferno which has turned into nothing but ashes and smoke. Everything is calm now, but the remains of the burning can still be felt in the air and ground around.

This came out the morning my father died. I first listened to it while eating breakfast after.
There isn't much else to say, I don't relate to the lyrics because of it, I did not cry. But the song's tone did stick with me.
The fact that this song was released on my birthday just makes listening to this so much better. Thanks Mili for your amazing songs!

I like the difference in each of the tones of these songs, world.execute(me); was more human and strayed further from machines, iron lotus sounds more sad and regretful as if post battle victory but one that doesn't feel fulfilling
I love how you mimick an ehru at the end. Cassie is really just showing off with these songs at this point.
