  • We bike camped from Olbia to Portoscuso on the island of Sardinia, along the West coast over 7 days.
    Here's how I remember our route: ridewithgps.com/routes/37980909
Note that if you use a Jetboil style fuel canister, no-one sells them on Sardia, only the "french style" that won't work. We bought one in Rome.

Nice video. It goes without saying that pics are worth more than words. Vid illustrates varied topography for those like me who are unfamiliar with Sardinia. Would be nice to know what tires you used. They look to be perhaps 36-40 mm, but that is just a guess. Some of the rougher terrain would be much easier using mtb type tires, but interested in the facts and your recommendations on tires and anything else you deem important to this tour.

Our bike came with 45 mm tires. The roads in Sardinia were generally very good, so our tires were plenty wide.

Hi, do you go along the coastline? How was the Traffic?

We mainly took back roads along the coast. We ran into traffic leaving Olbia going North, but that was due to construction. Leaving Palau on the SS133 was really bad with lots of trucks and no shoulder. Maybe you can go around. Other than that the roads were great. We had a problem with the bike and rented a van to take us from Portoscuso into Cagliari. I would not recommend trying to ride there on the SS195.
