    Excellent "how-to". Thanks!
Being able to the deep clean the air fryer is essential sooner or later. Thanks! I was surprised that the disassembly was this simple and straightforward; without a lot of special custom screws unique for this product. I dug into my toolbox and saw that I even already had the T15 Torx screwdriver too. Thanks again! 😃👍

Also ... note to self ... even a tiny cake round on the top shelf of the air fryer basket is too close to the heating coil!

I inherited a Instant Pot Duo Crisp + Air Fryer by default, meaning it was left behind. Oh man, it was NASTY!! I looked at the lid and decided it could be disassembled. Decided to check for video to see if I was on the right track with my thinking. I'm glad I did because, I would have lost the burner wires in the top. Thank you for an informative how to video!!!

    Great video!
I followed your instructions, what I did find was that the 3 screws that hold the element guard in place need a star shaped bit to undo them.
The nut that holds the fan in place: to undo, the nut turns clockwise, so remember when putting the fan back in place you need to tighten the nut COUNTER CLOCKWISE otherwise the nut will not fit - I forgot this and spent a couple of hours wondering why the nut would not fit lol! 😅😅😅😅
As with most fans, the securing nut always tightens in the opposite direction that the fan spins - I forgot this - rookie mistake😂😂
I didn't remove the element, just the screw holding it in place, the wires connected to my element are too short to do this safely.
I now have a pristine airfryer lid that looks like new.
Thanks for showing me how to do this 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi, great video! My current problem is that the lid still gets hot, but the fan does not run anymore. Is it worth disassembling the lid as shown, or is the problem more likely found in the bottom electronics of the unit. I read about 'thermal fuses'.....Is there one for the heater and one for the fan?

This is a very good video! However, I've a PSA for everyone: I've bought an instant pot Duo Crisp (end of 2021), and wanted to clean the air fryer lid. The lid LOOKS very similar to this one, but unfortunately it was designed to be infinitely more complex to take apart for cleaning. The heater coil cannot be taken out from the bottom, etc. After you unscrew the heater coil and the sensor, a number of things will start to rattle in the INSIDE of the pot, and parts will start to fall out (spacers, etc.).
I'll see if I'll be able to take it apart & put it together from the top side, but this is very bad design compared to the one shown in the video. Who the hell designs an air fryer which cannot be deep cleaned?!

Well I f***d up. Just like you, I thought I'd be able to take my 6 qt Crisp air fryer lid apart as shown in this video until that heater coil didn't come out. Now I can't put it back together properly because the bolt that was holding the heater coil down has nothing to grab onto on the other side of the shield.
Were you ever able to get it apart from the other side? I've tried and haven't had any luck :/

    • @dqwebb32
      @dqwebb32 Před rokem

I was on the verge of yanking my coil out because it wasn't pulling up like the one in the video. Mine also didn't have as many screws in the base plate.
I don't know what type of lock-tite they used on the fan screw, but I couldn't get it to budge.
I really wish it wasn't this hard to clean.

Hi. I wanted to use Air fryer the other day but I noticed that the fan wasn’t moving at all so I heated up a little bit the lid and then I started to move the fan with my finger until it the fan was moving whiteout resistance. The thing is when I started the Air fryer the sound was terrible it seems like it was going to take off or break. Do you think a little grease or oil in the fan axis will help?

Thanks for the Video. Only doing Research before purchasing my first Pressure Cooker. Perhaps I should wait another year for these Brands to figure out how to clean their Products. This is truly ridiculous. I'm way too much of a "clean freak" to know I have to completely disassemble & then REBUILD my Unit ! I probably can't wait, so I'll just have to find a PC that doesn't offer an Air Fryer! (maybe you should send this to "Instant Pot" HQ's so they can see what their Customers have to go thru - talk about Loyalty! & this Unit seems easier than the Ninja Foodi!)

I bought this unit but have not used it yet. This video is excellent with a clear demonstration and I thank you for your consideration to make other Instant Pot users aware of this information. This is due diligence that I needed before moving ahead.
I think my next move will be to return the Instant Pot Duo Cooker & Air Fryer because this is way more work than I was aware was needed to clean it. A simple wipe down just won’t be sufficient and waiting until the warranty period passes before attempting to take it apart for thorough cleaning and then hopefully get it back together and working properly is too risky for my liking.
Thanks again for posting! Much appreciated!

I tried soaking the top plate (held by the first three screws) in Dawn w/ hot water for two hours. Doesn't get the grease off. Would really like to know what to soak the parts in. How long? what percentages - how much baking soda. Do we simmer the water/ vinegar mix on the stove.
For all the take apart and re-assemble instructions. - I can't pull up the heating coil on my instant pot lid, and I haven't yet been able to get the first plate as clean as the video implies.

I'm fairly certain that the detachable lid is actually a plus over the foodie even the new one that they have with the multi-lid. It appears to have the element just straight exposed without even a cover but you don't really know what's going on under the lid because well I haven't seen a video and it's rather expensive just to figure out that it is actually exposed

Lightly spray with water? Are you sure that will work well and not break it? I’ve really tried cleaning mine without removing it and it’s tough because stuff gets really caked on. The reason taking it apart is so good and needed is to scrub it which you can’t do unless you disassemble it.
