The Doors were among the most controversial & influential rock acts of the 1960s, mostly due to Jim Morrison's lyrics & voice. They had a lot of hits including "L.A. Woman", "The End", "Light My Fire", "Break On Through (To The Other Side)", "Love Me Two Times", "Roadhouse Blues", "People Are Strange", "Hello, I Love You", "Touch Me", "The Unknown Soldier", "Love Her Madly" etc. Sadly Jim Morrison died in 1971 at the age of only 27 but left a great legacy of music.
Dad played bass for Steppenwolf and was once interviewed for a possible position in the band at the Roxy by Jim and Robbie but then in the middle of it Jim and his girlfriend got into a big fight and left. That was the end of that! I used to see Robbie at Val-Surf in the valley getting his skis tuned.
The storm is almost here, and Jim is still with us.
The late Ray Manzarek on keys.Great track full of atmosphere and recorded just a few months before lead singer Jim Morrisons death in July 1971.
1st listen and you picked up on that keyboard solo...real genius in an understated way. Most people miss the note-for-note beauty..the way he leads us up the takes us back down.
Their whole catalog is a trip!!!!đđEnjoy your journey!!!đđââ
One of my favourite bands to play while driving cross-country. Thanks for the reaction!
Edit: They were from the late â60âs to the early â70âs & their music could be described as psychedelic rock.
Ray Manczarek/Manzarek is the keyboard player.
I remembered you recommended I listen to them. Thatâs why I chose this one
Yeah dude, Manzarek on keys. Groovy jazz.
With Rock songs, don't get too freaked about their length, they are often 2-3-4 songs in one!!! They will switch up and surprise you, typically in a fantastic way. The Beatles were the pioneers of that format!!! Pink Floyd, Queen, Yes, Deep Purple and Rush are among many đđđđââ
Need to do ROADHOUSE BLUES by the DOORS next,,,, singer/POET JIM MORRISON of course ! and Ray Manczarek is the keyboard player.
Yo Fat lid.........try the DOORS ' Soft parade'........hold on now............nah but, it is pretty kool
I don't know if it's only in Ukraine, but when someone buys a vinyl record player, the first vinyls they get are The Doors or Led Zeppelin. For some reason, we think that these bands are perfect for listening to on vinyl) But it's so common that now it's even a little bit vulgar to give the first vinyl with a Doors album. But this track is perfect for vinyl) I love these guys.
When I was a kid in the nineties, I remember on payday my dad would come home drunk and listen to Led Zepelin - Child in time at full volume on vinyl (I recommend listening to it). I was listening to gangsta rap at the time and I didn't like it at all. After a couple of years I got interested in playing guitar and I played their albums on vinyl with pleasure.
Doors were Jazzy. Morrison held it all together. All hail the writers!
check out: when the musics over (arguably most potently powerful longer song. it'll blow your socks off. innovative even now) ; people are strange (succinct signature); peace frog (funk meets goth); the end (you like crime stories, this song fits. dark epic. ); crystal ship (beautiful timeless crooning poetry); not to touch the earth (paranoia early dark metal); LAwoman (city turned into poetic metaphor); light my fire & touch me (commercial doors hits w/ a twist of lime . quality pop work of era)...the doors didnt lacked consistency of the stones, beatles or zepplin, but at their best, they were as good. & more importantly more dangerous & tapped to underbellly of culture. aged better.
You should consider doing a full album review like Anthony Fantano
If you like this, you should check out peace frog by the doors
Ray manzerek on keyboard
1:06 I just started reading my Solar Pons books. What's your take on true crime?
Dude. LA Woman. Itâll change your life.
True crime, the butler always does it, if no butler hire one and blame him
Always the butler in the kitchen. With a coffee mug
@@dadwhatsfordinner in the kitchen? I didn't have a clue

It would take you 3 minutes, ya know?
You could do a bit of research about The Doors before you watch. Then you wouldnât have to ask who the keyboardist is.
Just engaging with the viewers. Thanks for the tips
