- Mama has been heaping vegetables in all our meals and we're loving it...the kids, not so much but she's been hiding them in the soups she makes and so far, they've not detected that. This soup is loaded but all you taste is it's deliciousness.
Ingredients:
5 lb Pompano
1.5 lb pork feet
½ lb adwene (smoked fish)
3.5 oz salted beef
2 large onions
6 tomatoes
2 scotch bonnets
1 red bell pepper
1 cup opo squash or long squash
¾ cup butternut squash
40 grams ginger
4 garlic cloves

My late mom always used the vegetable you introduced, for light soup decades ago when we were growing up. She called it #Marrow. I still use it for cooking, together with chayotes, the yellow and butternut squash.

Pepper soup and these kinds of soups are in two different worlds. This is proper soup, Pepper soup in Ghana is just casual soup for men to sit down and drink "Ogogulo".

We Nigerians love our pepper don't we? I think you can use ata rodo, hot peeper, that you call habanero pepper in the US instead and perhaps a dash of ground Cameroon peeper.

I like the ingredients used and everything else but I think the fish is overcooked, it should have been added the same time the blended vegetable was poured in, that way, the fish will not be overcooked.
The fish wasn't overcooked, we Ghanaians love our tasty dishes and meats so steaming is very important to us, and to get rid of fishy smell it must be done that way. Sorry, our style!
PLEASE sharpen your knives. I love your videos but I feel bad whenever someone is cutting with obviously blunt knives. If you like the knives as they are, (some people feel safer using those), then please just ignore what I am saying. Thank you and your mother for these amazing videos.🤤
