The first time I heard Pink Floyd I was 8 years old, the year of 1973, my uncle had bought "Dark side of The Moon" on vinyl of course and we listened to
the hole album without saying a word. After that experiense Pink Floyd became my all time favorit band. I have also been on two stadium-concerts , one of them was PULSE, and I still can remember the feeling, I havent had the same experience, even I have been at several big stadium-concerts with Metallica, Bruce Springsteen(x2), Stones, Queen was up there, but not quite.

Even though Gilmour isn't a Steve Vai or Satriani as far as range of technique and flavors, what chops he does have are wonderful. It's like he has this etherial sound and his simplistic playing is punctuated with a mature sensitivity in his bend work, to which he is a master. It's like you've died and are racing thru the clouds toward on your way home. It really feels like a sound from the other side.

Nice reaction. Some Pink Floyd/David songs are very slow and mellow, but they are never boring. There is always an intensity no matter the temp, because it makes you feel things that we all feel but don’t always have the music that connects us with that. David is performing this Fall, just in New York and LA (at least in the US). Tickets are still available on Stub Hub so if you can swing it to get to one of those shows, drop what you’re doing and get that ticket now. Likely the last chance we will have to see him perform.

You said you ‘love how they do their lights.’ Likewise. When I first discovered (and became obsessed with) Pink Floyd, I read a great book on the history of the band-including lots of extraordinary material on the Syd Barrett era, which to me was very mysterious, and what little I knew about Syd made me think he was something of a kindred spirit. Of course, I also felt that way about Jim Morrison. As a matter of fact, every person, real or fictitious, with whom I identified as a young man was a deeply troubled, misunderstood artist or scientist whose life ended tragically. Any guesses as to how my life ended up?
Anyroad, the lights! Pink Floyd was one of the first band to experiment with creative lighting at their performances. They would use projectors onto which they would place oils of different colours and densities, and as the band played, someone would stand at the projector and smear these oils around, producing crazy shows of what looked like coloured blobs swimming round over the band, sometimes splitting, or swallowing each other, or just swirling ‘round and round. Also, for one show, they played a video they had made by pushing one of their mates around London in a wheelchair, with the bloke in the wheelchair carrying the camera.
So:Pink Floyd more or less invented the modern rock ‘n’ roll concert experience-and, being the first and the most creative, of course, they raised it to its very highest pinnacle.

Dogs of War from this same concert is great. It also has a sax solo that'll melt your face off.

When i was a kid, Floyd was reference line for testing new stereo systems. First that that came on the turntable... Everywhere.

David Gilmour's guitar playing is easily identifiable. He played on Brian Ferry's song "Is Your Love Strong Enough" and you just know it's David Gilmour playing without seeing the video. I still think the best way to listen to Pink Floyd is earphones on and just laying back and losing yourself in the music. They'll take you on a trip for sure.

Great song! I can say for SURE that if you want to hear industrial metal the perfect band is Ministry. They are, for all real purposes, the originators of the genre and in my opinion the all time best

I think this is one of the best songs by Pink Floyd, with or without Roger Waters, it’s just amazing, studio or this live version. The guitar solo ranks up there with comfortably numb, saw them on this tour and the pulse tour in Chicago, just amazing

Pink Floyd could connect with people like no other band. They could tug on any emotion know to man. How lucky were the fans in the 1970s to experience this incredible collection of musicians. I'm 73 and have wactched these live videos and and listened to these concert dozens of times, God only knows how many tears I have shed

I got to see them in 1988 when they were at their peak. A memory that lives on through the years. We were blessed with so much fantastic music living in the seventies and eighties. So nice to see you enjoying that era

There are a few bands that are as good if not better live. PF, Zep , Eagles just to name a few. I was blessed to see them all many times.
