As brilliant as Comfortably Numb is, On The Turning Away for me is a more emotional ride. SalvoG, you have become my favourite reaction CZcamsr. Genuine love for music, true emotional responses, and a reminder that this era was a godsend to grow up with.
And he actually seems to understand music and the power of instruments
David Gilmour's voice is EVERYTHING. The rest is just icing on the cake. I was introduced to their music just 20 years ago but they'll be my favorite band for the rest of my life.

Everybody love’s Comfortably Numb, Sorrow, Brick in the Wall, etc…….but for me, this is their best song. The raw emotion and artistic expression in this song is just top notch. The melody, the hooks and the ending are just…perfection. 👍🎸🎶😎🇨🇦

Richard Wright keyboard playing shines on this throughout. Starting with the haunting opening and then later on he complements the solo so well. Such an integral member of the band
I went to this concert and listening to it today takes me right back to that night over 30 years ago. My ticket cost me $50 and the sweatshirt I bought was $30. Best concert I ever went to (and I've been to a lot). The short haired brunette back up singer was absolutely phenomenal. She sang the entire song "The Great Gig in the Sky" alone. In more recent concerts, all 3 back ups sang their own parts. I'll never forget her performance. David Gilmore is a rock god...and the laser show was mesmerizing.

I was lucky enough to win the opportunity to buy 12 tix for their show in Vancouver in the 90s. They were mind blowingingly good. Best concert I've ever seen. The female singers, too, were so integral and striking in their performances. Pure gold ❤

No band like Pink Floyd, they're on another level altogether! Not to mention their enormous stage presence.
Some of the best 9 min of my life. There are actually 2 "drummers". Nick Mason is the original drummer and Gary Wallis the percussionist who is usually seen standing up and jumping a lot for the high cymbals. He is seen in the short opening clip you started this with. Excellent reaction! I'm almost jealous that I can't relive the experience of listening and watching PF. Thanks for reacting to this great song.

This was at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island in New York!
I was there. I used to attend around 12 or so concerts a year the 80’s and 90’s, and Since then I spent the last quarter century working at 2 of our country’s most famous venues in Nashville, and this is still the greatest show I’ve ever seen, maybe tied with Garth Brooks at Central Park.
Both shows were events of their own kind.

One of my all-time favorite albums and definitely my favorite Pink Floyd album. The entire album is great, but Learning to Fly, One Slip, Yet Another Movie are standouts with an absolutely stunning finale in the song Sorrow. It's quite a transformative experience to take in the entire album, I hope you'll check it out.
I was there, what an experience it was. Incredible and a dream come true, a lifelong ambition fulfilled.

Awesome video to react to. That guitar is a beast. It's singing the protest too. I've always loved this song and this live performance gives me chills.
Such a stunning performance
This version of the song really knocks my socks off every time. That part when it's just the voices backed by the accoutic guitar gives me goosebumps. Dogs of War from this same concert is a great song and it has a sax solo that'll melt your face off.

I actually work as a stagehand for them when they played here in NY being a union stagehand in the local on Long Island when the Wall tour came to town I saw them as a customer at the Nassau Coliseum during the wish your were here animals tour

On the Turning Away is one of my favorite non Waters Pink Floyd albums. This whole album is so good, from beginning to end. Major on my playlist.
This video is from the live concert album, The Delicate Sounds of Thunder, a great live album/video concert.
The title refers to the cheers and applause from the audience, which is a near constant throughout the whole of the album

This album and tour happened shortly before my teenage-self discovered Pink Floyd. It's weird seeing David Gilmour in '80s attire -- Versace-style colorful jacket over a collarless shirt, jumbo shoulder pads, and a hairstyle that is close to a mullet.
You're really into this, and I f***in' dig it... cool man! This isn't one of my favourite Floyd albums, but I like your vibe. Check out something from the "Pulse" live video 1994... preferably something from "The Division Bell" album... "Keep Talking" off the top of my head. Cheers! 👍😎🎶
You listening to a true legends of the rock world Pink Floyd and David Gilmour voice and his guitar are untouchable when it comes to music truely a huge talent you can’t get no better experience!!!!!
I saw them twice in Atlanta, each with 60,000 of my closest friends. An hour after they left the stage at least half of those friends refused to leave the stadium. That's the impact of that incredible theatrical experience.

I'm usually the guy that recommends the live versions of songs most of the time. Don't get me wrong, this is amazing, but the music video for this is outstanding.
Saw this tour in Philly.
You seriously missed Rick's keyboards and his beautifully melodic opening which set the tone for these specific lyrics and everything which follows. The cinematography and editing were outstanding, as were the backing vocalists and players. David's best solo imho. Any cut from this remastered version is worth viewing. As good live music concert video production gets.
This is a perfect example of the "sound" of Pink Floyd, versus another band like U2. You could can tell you're going to be listening a to Pink Floyd song and what a song it is.

Saw this tour live back in the day. Met my friends in a pub across the road from the venue. Then I unexpectedly saw my sister with her friends. She handed me a pill and said 'take this'. Of course I did... We all walked into the open-air venue and could smell all the weed in the air lol. So probably could the cops in attendance. An amazing concert and we were all blown away when the 'flying pig' crossed the sky above us. A trippy trance it sure was.
Love Pink Floyd. My 3 favorite bands to this day are Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Jethro Tull. If you haven't had a chance to listen to Tull, I suggest you start with Aqualung.

Highly suggest Gilmours second solo album, About Face. The songs, All lovers are Deranged and Murder. Pete Townsend worked with him on it. Gilmour worked on Townsends solo album White City. The song Gjve Blood has an obvious Gilmour solo. I’m an old guy now so I don’t remember who was first. I was there, just don’t remember much.

you know, I've asked alot of people over the years, who is there top 5, best bands EVER! Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin are always in that list, 85% of the time

Great band. Another Brick in the Wall is another amazing song. Love that song and album. It was on our Juke Box in high school....principal hated it, based on the lyrics and slammed the juke box into the wall to scratch the record..lol. Awesome band.

Been to 4 Floyd concerts starting in 73. I was 13. No adult supervision. Yeah... the crowd goes nuts between songs but stares, and grooves, to the music. In part, i believe to our benefit, Floyd's intros are a little quirky and somewhat long. It gives the crowd a chance to show it's appreciation of the previous number and get their head "back in the game". Keep in mind. I last saw em in 79 (?) for the wall. Tripping balls all 4 times. Give ya an idea. During the Animals concert, we were about row 15 dead center. I got up during a song, walked down to the stage, and Gilmore was 20 ft away. I watched him play for a couple minutes. Walked back and watched the rest from my seat. I'm sure there was security but there was nothing between me and the band. Try that today. Just ain't happening. Not at that level. Peace ✌️
