It was a close fight. Not a robbery by any standards; rounds 1 and 3-5 score themselves, so it's 2-2 and whoever won round 2 takes it. And round 2 was an incredibly close one, and you could justify an even round on it. Draw, Reyes, or Jones are all reasonable. It's just a really hard fight to judge. The 49-46 is a fucking crime against the sport though.

At first I also thought that Reyes almost clearly won Round 2. However, I've just reviewed the fight closely, and from what I see, Rd 2 was actually the most significant round to pay attention to. (Reyes did better in Rd 3 than he did in 2) In Round 2, Reyes definitely put the "scare" on Jon Jones, making a lot of vicious swings at Jones especially against the cage. However, watch closely, and you'll see that Jon slipped mostly all of them, and Reyes began to tire 2 mins into that round (3:50 onward), where Jones then controlled the pace, having Reyes shuffling backward for the rest of that round, and also for most of the remainder of the fight. I believe because we don't expect to see Jones in such a scary position against a contender, Rd 2 appeared to look "more impressive" of Reyes than it really was. However in actuality, Reyes barely landed anything in that decisive Rd #2. For the least he (Reyes) "Definitely" did not "put a beating" on Jones in Rnd #2, and I can see the argument for that round to be awarded to either side.
Finally AD someone who takes the time to analyze what took place and put it in writing. I said the same thing before reading your post and that was that many of the wild shots that Reyes was throwing were being blocked. The fact that D. Whites kids are stating Reyes won the fight tells me 90% of what I need to know. This younger generation does NOT understand the fight game and needs to go back and watch classic bouts of championship fights. This younger generation is the entitlement generation( and so feel that Reyes was entitled) and the type to actually believe that B. It was a close fight. Not a robbery by any standards; rounds 1 and 3-5 score themselves, so it's 2-2 and whoever won round 2 takes it. And round 2 was an incredibly close one, and you could justify an even round on it. Draw, Reyes, or Jones are all reasonable. It's just a really hard fight to judge. The 49-46 is a fucking crime against the sport though.

How does it work? The judge that gave Jones 4-1 should just be fired, just like any other job where you mess up completely. The UFC should literally employ new judges that they think are qualified, and go about it that way, have private judging that are experts in MMA, rather than it coming from the state. At first I also thought that Reyes almost clearly won Round 2.
However, I've just reviewed the fight closely, and from what I see, Rd 2 was actually the most significant round to pay attention to.
(Reyes did better in Rd 3 than he did in 2)
In Round 2, Reyes definitely put the "scare" on Jon Jones, making a lot of vicious swings at Jones especially against the cage.
However, watch closely, and you'll see that Jon slipped mostly all of them, and Reyes began to tire 2 mins into that round (3:50 onward), where Jones then controlled the pace, having Reyes shuffling backward for the rest of that round, and also for most of the remainder of the fight.
I believe because we don't expect to see Jones in such a scary position against a contender, Rd 2 appeared to look "more impressive" of Reyes than it really was.
However in actuality, Reyes barely landed anything in that decisive Rd #2.
For the least he (Reyes) "Definitely" did not "put a beating" on Jones in Rnd #2, and I can see the argument for that round to be awarded to either side.
Finally AD someone who takes the time to analyze what took place and put it in writing. I said the same thing before reading your post and that was that many of the wild shots that Reyes was throwing were being blocked. The fact that D. Whites kids are stating Reyes won the fight tells me 90% of what I need to know. This younger generation does NOT understand the fight game and needs to go back and watch classic bouts of championship fights. This younger generation is the entitlement generation( and so feel that Reyes was entitled) and the type to actually believe that B. Larry David , he didn't deserve anything. He lost that fight! Even I'm rounds 1 and 2 when he scored more strikes Jones was never in trouble and many punches were missed and blocked. Rounds 3,4 and 5 had Reyes in retreat with Jones walking him down. He back pedaled and ran for 3 rounds straight.

Reyes won the first 3 rounds and Jones had the last 2, and this is widely accepted by anyone who knows MMA. Dana has said it, Rogan has said it. The only ones who didn't were the bent judges.

If judges are going to give points for these things, maybe explain to the fighters, that even though it’s not in the rules, you can now get points for it. Also rounds are scored individually, not cumulatively. John objectively lost three rounds, no debate. So unless your argument is that he won a 10-8 round, then he lost by the current rules.
