This is one of my top 5 favorite stories I've ever told you since I started making videos 2.5 years ago, so I hope you enjoy!
It's about a 74 year old man named Mike Hanopol, who comes from a beautiful island in the Philippines called Leyte. In his early life, he found out (from his father) that he has Jewish ancestry, so he spent 15 years living between the U.S. and Israel to learn more about his religion.
To this day, he remains Orthodox, keeping Shabbat and eating kosher -- which is not as easy as it sounds here in the Philippines, a country that's 85-90% dominated by Catholicism.
Oh yeah, and he's also a super famous rockstar from the 1970s, with several big hits around the country like "Laki sa Layaw." I didn't mention in the video that he opened up for Led Zeppelin in the 1970s in Tokyo, which is my favorite band of all time!
If you enjoyed this video, it would mean a lot to me if you shared it with your friends because I spent 3 days putting it together :)

I met him early to mid 2000 by accident at a nifty fifties restaurant here in Blackwood NJ. His table was directly across mine and when I noticed him he seemed familiar as we sat across from each other. When I told my sister that he looks like “the Mike Hanopol of Juan de la cruz band” he heard me and he got up, walked to our table and shook my hand. He was surprised that a young guy my age would actually know him. He’s a really nice guy and down to earth person and I was honored meeting him of all places. I remembered him wearing his trademark beret.

Hi Drew I believe I was in High School when Mike's Laki sa Layaw became very big. He stayed in my hometown of Iloilo long enough that some thought he's Ilonggo.

I had a Filipino friend named, Edgar Abreu. We both immigrated to the USA and worked as engineers for Kaiser Engineers in Oakland, California. I was wondering how he ended up in the Philippines. Now I know by watching CZcams.

@@raidenkanashie903 Israelites worship in Synagogues. Not churches. If you know any synagogue, contact the head rabbi first before going. There will be interview in English.
Or if you know a Chabad house.
At this time, since Covid, I do not think there are meetings.
You can just listen to rabbis on youtube. No need to go to synangogue since most likely you will not be let in if you are a guy. They have tight security for fear of the muslims.
