mike also played at an "imitation" barrio fiesta in fort lauderdale every thursday, he drove a bantam ford wagon (focus?) and would unload/load his guitar and equipment with visible difficulty. one time we arrived at the same time and i helped him unload, then he said, "masakit na likod ko pare, kaso kailangan kumayod, nagpapa-aral pa ako at gusto sa ateneo pa", this was in 1993 and yes, that hurricane came. best regards to you mr mike!

Mike deserves to be in the Hall of Fame Philippines if there is one. His contribution and passion to the OPM and Philippines Music industry is priceless. He's so humble that he just enjoy his passion not looking for fame and money! What a noble character he has❤❤❤ I grew up when "Laki sa layaw Jeproks" was a hit and became an icon and "Hagibis" was budding. Mike, you're a legend! What a small world, sir Mike! I met you once in New York. Lo and behold, I was a platoon leader with the 82nd Airborne Division when we got deployed to Florida after Andrew. We crossed paths again a couple of years after in one of the hotels and yes, my buddies know you. Sayang Walang smart phone noon na pwede kang I google kaagad. I’m glad it turned out well for you.

I can’t help but comment for every story of Mr. Hanopol. They’re all interesting. Firstly , I’m just so amazed how he wrote the Hagibis songs. Considering that he had a totally different genre. What a talented artist! Pero tawang-tawa ako about the creation of Hagibis. It’s so hilarious na inulit-ulit ko tuloy panoorin how they scouted sa mga kalye lang. Yung approach nila is parang nang”hahala” ng mga cute and macho dudes lol. Wish a documentary could be made about his life story but include all these anecdotes.

What a great interview. I was always wondering why Hagibis sounded like Mike Hanopol. Great to see him in relatively good health and great spirits. Some of the greatest songs were created in the shortest amount of time. Laki sa Layaw proves it once again. Amazing. I was today years old when I learned where 'jeproks' came from. I always thought it meant hippie. And Joey de Leon even contributed to Hagibis. Touching the lives of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Depp, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias; playing with Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson -- WOW! What a life this legend has lived. I really wish they make a proper documentary on Mike and the JDLC band.
Sir Mike :) gawa ka naman po ng libro or autobiography mo na naglalaman ng mga ganitong istorya mo na marami sa amin tyak na hindi ito alam. Maraming kapupulutan ng aral at panahon na rin na malaman ng mga Pilipino ang sining na ginawa po ninyo at mga samut saring story sa gitna ng mga yon. Isa ka ng legend Sir Mike at mahirap ko mang banggitin at di naman sa pungunguna ay sana naman iwan mo sa amin ang legacy nyo para sa present at future generation. Isa ka sa haligi ng musika na naghubog sa Pilipinas sana naman iwan mo naman ang sining at story mo sa amin. Malaking bagay at pasasalamat kung mangyayari iyon, wala na si Sir Pepe at Sir Wally at hindi na mainintidihan ng future generation kung paano ba ang naging story nila. Sana naman hindi tuluyang mawala.
Ang mga singers na gaya ni Mike ay hindi naman talaga pansin. Sila yung mga super talented pero underrated. Madaming gaya ni Mike na nauwi lang sa mga gigs, tapos hindi pa makabuhay ng pamilya ang kinikita. Kaya hindi natin masisi ang mga gaya niya. Ako ang favorite kong band ay Asin at si Coritha, na wala rin yatang nangyari sa career.

But now I do appreciate, respect artists like him. And I’m very interested in their life stories. M Hanopol is a true artist in its deepest sense, aware of the social issues at that time. But wasn’t given due credit and respect. Having him in shows like yours , is the simplest but important form of giving the honor and recognition that he so deserves.

I can’t help but comment for every story of Mr. Hanopol. They’re all interesting. Firstly , I’m just so amazed how he wrote the Hagibis songs. Considering that he had a totally different genre. What a talented artist!

What a great interview. I was always wondering why Hagibis sounded like Mike Hanopol. Great to see him in relatively good health and great spirits. Some of the greatest songs were created in the shortest amount of time. Laki sa Layaw proves it once again. Amazing. I was today years old when I learned where 'jeproks' came from. I always thought it meant hippie. And Joey de Leon even contributed to Hagibis. Touching the lives of Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Depp, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias; playing with Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson -- WOW! What a life this legend has lived. I really wish they make a proper documentary on Mike and the JDLC band.

Sir Mike :) gawa ka naman po ng libro or autobiography mo na naglalaman ng mga ganitong istorya mo na marami sa amin tyak na hindi ito alam. Maraming kapupulutan ng aral at panahon na rin na malaman ng mga Pilipino ang sining na ginawa po ninyo at mga samut saring story sa gitna ng mga yon. Isa ka ng legend Sir Mike at mahirap ko mang banggitin at di naman sa pungunguna ay sana naman iwan mo sa amin ang legacy nyo para sa present at future generation. Isa ka sa haligi ng musika na naghubog sa Pilipinas sana naman iwan mo naman ang sining at story mo sa amin. Malaking bagay at pasasalamat kung mangyayari iyon, wala na si Sir Pepe at Sir Wally at hindi na mainintidihan ng future generation kung paano ba ang naging story nila. Sana naman hindi tuluyang mawala.

But now I do appreciate, respect artists like him. And I’m very interested in their life stories. M Hanopol is a true artist in its deepest sense, aware of the social issues at that time. But wasn’t given due credit and respect. Having him in shows like yours , is the simplest but important form of giving the honor and recognition that he so deserves.
