Yeah, unfortunately I haven't been able to prep this properly, since I organise the whole jury review (which is the day before and don't have time to sort the list of results until the night before the event), the whole super trunk shoe event and three world champs contests. Plus talking in my second language (I'm from Sweden), my mind isn't fully with me there by the end of the day :) Agree that there's so much great work to see here by all the entrants!

Also I shoot a close up video of top three which will be published soon, and on the tour around the world they will pass Kirby in Dallas where he will film them again more properly.

Maybe on the future have a category for world championship of best made shoe, versus most out of the box or progressive interpretations of a style of a shoe. This was a very uninspiring top 10 selection, seemed more of a novelty than a quality selection.

No offense, but a shoe that isn’t wearable is useless and should be disqualified. This contest should be about a perfect execution of style, class, and utility rather than how weird you can make it.
I disagree, a competition that shows what “the best” shoe should be, should praise a shoemaker that can push the limits of what is already accepted. Put simply, why would you crown a standard design that looks “wearable” when you can admire something that pushes the limits of what is standard. My favorite shoe that I would buy is the 4th place If anyone cares 😂

I watch this show first time and I enjoyed this fashionable shoe exposition, there are many exquisite pieces of fashion, contemporary fashion is absolutely beautiful to the untrained eye.
I had a great day at the event and met some great people! Seeing the shoes up close in the flesh (both the competition shoes and the various shoe-makers collection samples) was fantastic. I ordered a pair of split toe derbies from CNES shoemaker so am very excited to see how they turn out!
This Jesper fellow was a very poor presenter at this contest. Honestly, he wasn't prepared at all. The amount of "uuhhhss" spewing out of his mouth was embarrassing. You have a great channel Kirby. Been a fan for 4 years and have learnt a lot. Keep it up Kirby

I want them to have 2 categories so badly. Give me an OUTLANDISH category. Every chance they get they give the number 1 spot to the craziest CONCEPT shoe that is completely unwearable. I want to reward creativity. But please. This competition is comparing apples to oranges.

I have to agree with some of the earlier comments. There should be a separation between high concept shoes and shoes that you would actually consider wearing. I love the high concept ideas but creating a shoe that is nigh unwearable just to showcase your skills sort of seems a little disingenuous.

It appears this contest took place in someone’s garage with only 5 people in attendance. Not even the winners were present, that’s how much they cared about receiving a medal. 😕
It took place on 12 Regent Street just below Piccadilly Circus, with almost 1,200 visitors during the day. As I believe is apparent in the video, no one knows the results until this very moment, and the jury review takes place the day before the event.

Yeah the Asian's crushed it this year! Haven't been so before though, the two previous two world champs have been from Germany and Sweden (living in England), and only one Asian on a podium position the first two contests.
The presenter was an embarrassment…..reading from a vulgar telephone then topped by the poverty of his English, was appalling. We need to have an urbane presenter whose delivery of English is a model of clarity.

Thank you for the video. Great shoes. In my opinion, I don't agree with 2nd place. That shoes are unpractical. If well the shoe is beautiful, give the 2nd place in "shoemaking" for some shoes that "cannot be used to walk", I don't think that has sense.

Not a fan of most of these. I get it, only so much one can do with a classical and traditional style. But this almost looks like a competition as to who can imagine the best concept shoes, not a true measure of who is making the best shoes. That winning shoe is not something that I would consider a well made wing tip shoe. I’m not against progressive designs, but few of these are “the best” or even good.
Alligator and crocodile skin should be banned from the market also shoemakers they use exotic animal skin should not be allowed to participate on competition for years. people, can you grow up? we live in the 21st century.
Is this a joke? Is it a Christopher Guest parody of a competition? Is this the World Championships of Asian Shoe Making? These are some of the ugliest shoes I have ever seen. My 10 year old John Lobbs are far superior to these things. I'm speechless at the hilariously bad results.

The person who came in 2nd place has a shoemaking CZcams channel called “siroeno yosui” he makes wonderful bespoke shoes
