After watching Arabella, Tally Ho, Rediviva and the like it is always breathtaking to see the sheer size of an actual ship.
Its also the type of ship. Being a cargo ship she is much much more round shaped. A sailing ship not ment for cargo even same length of cebia would be much thinner

Of all the boat building channels I watch this is by far my favorite. It’s also, sadly, by far, the one that I get to see the least. I’d so love weekly videos. So much hard work going into this project. It’s bigger than all the other boats put together.

Always nice to see progress on this massive venture. And, as always, hungry for more. Your CZcams subscriber base would blow up if you released videos weekly. I know it's extra work, but it's something to think about. Might be a volunteer out there with experience who's willing to come down and do that for you.
On a practical note, I'm interested in how you're going to move the finished ship to the water. With everything done, she'll probably weigh over 200 tons. The logistics of that will be fascinating.
When Ceiba is complete, one of the annoying aspects of traditional cargo hauling will be revived IE, dragging cargo on a wood floor. So, prolly from the moment the floors will start to go in, a track or ball track system should be had in mind.

I love this project. I love the craftsmanship, I love the "low tech" work, I love the way it looks. I would likely love the way it smells. It seems to be the epitome of the old time woodworkers' boat building skills. But I can't help but wonder if modern computer design could have made improvements. Those massive beams are cool, but would they have been better as a laminate? Would they have used less wood if they were triangular trusses, rather than one piece of solid timber? I dunno. I just think that it will take some more computer work to change the pattern of commerce.

incredible team work and , as was said in Richard Henry Dana's book, "Two Years Before the Mast", " a genuine will to work!". It's encouraging to see this kind of skill cultivated. Often it's said that skills like this are vanishing...It is NOT true. And yes,,,Tally Ho is equally inviting to watch the work...These guys are building rather than tearing down.

These people are working like Mules and it is a very long road till the heavy work is done. Please invest in better equipment and manpower and maintain it to prevent accidents and future long term injuries.

Just a suggestion for cargo area, maybe watch for airplane auctions, roller flooring from cargo planes would make for quick movement of cargo below deck

It is a bit depressing to realize yours is probably one of the last wooden cargo vessels to be built, barring an apocalypse. While smaller working and pleasure craft will surely be built for many years to come, the amount of labor and resources needed to build such a Behemoth will soon be cost prohibitive...I salute your noble endeavor, and wish you Fair Seas and Following Winds...From an old retired sailor of wooden boats...

Its proven by various CZcamsrs doing different experiments with the CZcams algorithm, that CZcams greatly favors monetization, monetizing your channel will push your videos to the top if recommended lists, in most cases your channel won't be recommended at all. Something like this would make it worth while with the video work, also increasing your exposure, people are just not aware of what you're doing.

Why is ordinary steel used for bolts? If you want the ship to last for "up to a century" - why not invest in bronze? Why would you want to have any ordinary steel in the boat at all?

The only thing I can think about is after this ship is in the water, will it not be a target for piracy? I assume the ship will be on the slow side. Sorry for the negative thought. ( I am in the shower)

Considering pirates have no trouble with twenty knot, high tonnage steel ships, size isn't the real issue.
Good luck in obtaining the proper certifications that you will require to operate your, erm ship? lol never going to happen. In my opinion, from the keel upwards this project is at best a niaeve pipe dream and hopefully not a scam. To me this is obviously a cowboy job. Anyone who is considering "investing" in this project showed be extremely wary and definitely should research the particulars unless you are simply giving away your money on a charitable basis. After some rudimentary research I predict that if this thing ever enters the water it will absolutely never carry any real commercial cargo if for only insurance certification alone. Not to mention a barrel load of other reasons. As a venture capitalist who researches and invests in a broad range of sectors I say that whatever happens SailCargo Inc will never be a commercially viable business. Anyone who does wish to invest need only visit a professional wooden ship builders yard and show them some of the videos on this channel. Ya might change your mind when you see their reaction. 🤣
I suspect it will do a couple of cargo runs, (probably carrying rain-forest timber) be deemed non-competitive commercially, then become a private leisure vessel for surfing and touring.
@@VenturiLife I honestly doubt that they will every obtain the required certification needed to operate it as a commercial vessel in any form. Unless they plan to use it as a pirate ship 🤣 If you do some brief research you will find that they are already sailing upwind in that department. A veritable boat load of paperwork and inspections are mandatory. In my opinion the prerequisites will sink this thing and stop this rag tag bunch of scallywags dead in the water.
What's the point? Just look at the number of ships being held up in the Suez canal today, 50 huge container ships a day pass through Suez alone, look at how much they are carrying, do you honestly think your little ship will make the slightest bit of difference to transporting cargo around the world?
