- This is the custom B model of the LEGO Technic 42099 X-Treme Off-Roader designed by Diederik van Leeuwen. It only uses parts from the original model, has two Powered Up XL motors, one Powered Up L motor and the Technic hub. The rock crawler has a unique design with an impressive axle articulation and the body's tilting angle averages the angles made by the front and rear axles.

Removed it during filming to check the gears and accidentally put it back reversed :) Fixed it after closing the differentials
Just mount a set going each way. Alot rc crawlers do it when they have a "dig" axle in the rear to help plant the tires, plus help grip on the down hills

Id love to see one of these with two motors for driving or a 2 speed transmission. The extra power would be super for this model

Macht mehr Spaß als das A Modell. Mir fehlte nur am Heck eine Lenkung. Er kämpf sich über alles solange genug Kontaktfläche da is. Vielleicht noch mehr Bodenfreiheit. Tolles Design
how does the centre bit not turn and not stay upright?
im trying to make a rock climber but how do i make only the tires move becouse on my climber instead of the tires moving the middle moves so can someone help?

Hey there, I have a question, I know this video is older but I would still love to ask you RacingBrick or anyone here if this Rocky version is hard to built or not and if you could tell me how hard it is in scale from 1 to 5 (1 easy, 5 hard) since the only thing I have built so far is model 42095 and 42108
Well it really depends on your experience, with only those two sets completed I'd say it is between 4 and 5. Photo instructions are not the easiest to follow sometimes.

Hello , I bought the plans , assembled the crawler , but it has two issues...the turning angle is small and also lacks in speed. any solutions for that? thanks!
It's a crawler, so it won't be fast. With this setup you get this turning radius, you can copy the front axle setup to the rear to make that better.
@@RacingBrick I don't want it to be fast...just a litlle bit faster...I think a smaller gear won't connect with that differential turning piece
I'm about to buy this set but the gyroscope isn't confused by the suspension because I see the hub is turning with the front axle or am I wrong?
The gyroscope is only used to display the angle of the hub in the app

It will obviously display the position of the hub so yes it is "off" based on your terms

You can try to modify it but that'll probably require additional parts

Could you please make a video explaining how axle articulation is done? I don’t fully understand it and I would like to make a car that makes use of that.

I'd say locked diffs, that's where it really shines.

I finally got the set a month ago and was wondering if this is worth the money because I’ve done a height mod to the original, locked diffs and switched gears but I was still keen for this. Please reply so I know to buy the instructions or not
I think if you watch the video you can decide yourself. It's a great mod, with the locked diffs it is very capable outdoors.

Very cool and much better as the A model. It's much flexible and just better. I don't know if it's just me but it's a bit geared down? I did not see in the video I will watch a bit closely.
simply not geared up, each motor goes straight to the differential... planetary hubs do the rest!

I build this and It was awesome!! Only bad thing is the steering is not that good
If you could drive each axles individualy. You could just stop the back to help pull the front if you have to turn real sharp. I'm sure some one could rig it like a 1.10th rd moa rock crawler. Moa = motor on axle
So it’s a solid axle butt the axle is made of independent suspension so it has the benefits of both?

I think it actually matches the laid-back character of the model. The kind of type that wears different socks or even different shoes ;-).
