Covering Cakes with Buttercream using Acrylic Discs / Ganache Plates

  • Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. Do you ever struggle to get smooth sides on your buttercream frosting or ganache covered cakes. Do you find that they sometimes taper in at the top? In this weeks video tutorial I'm going to be showing you how you can use Acrylic Discs / Disks or Ganache Plates to get smooth sides and a sharp top edge on your buttercream frosted cakes.

    Lynz, thank you for such a concise, clear video. I have ganache plates, but I'm worried about using them. My cakes start off level, but always end up with a lean by the time I've ganached them. I'm determined to master this technique. Your videos make it look easy. Mo x

      You are so welcome. These plates do make it alot easier if you ever struggle to get a smooth finish. They act as a guide as you pull your scraper round.

    Comes out perfectly. Will be trying. Getting my buttercream or ganache perfectly neat is probably by biggest challenge and can make me🤬🤬🤣🤣👍😁🎂

    Thanks for this video tutorial it gives me hope to achieve nice sharp edges and a smooth side cake using the chocolate ganache method, Acrylic plate/disc will be my next project to buy.Would you think this method will be applicable in using a soft icing like non dairy whipping cream?Because I use it in frosting my chocolate cake.
