I wish the younger gen. would stop watching all these so called pro staffers on tv that think they know how to kill mature deer and just stick to your channel for true key points about targeting mature bucks, you truley understand big deer and I've been reading articles on you way before CZcams back when you first put out your DVDs with Jarrod and the other guys, you are the big buck serial killer and really appreciate all your work!!! Your content is the best on the web!! Infalt for president 2024!!!
Good info, I have killed several deer 🦌 within a 10-15 minute walk from parking. Yes I still like to go deeper into the woods but at nearly 70 for some reason they all seem to drag heavier than they use to so not as deep as often anymore. But still hunting, mainly solo but hunting. Good luck guys
I remember when I was young, driving near Washington dc. In between the big highways was a little strip of woods. About ten yards wide. It went for miles and Miles between the highways. Well I saw a massive buck bedded in that strip. Couldn't beleive it.
I appreciate the wealth of information that you share. It truly is amazing. We hunt a very large section of national forest Where we have traditionally sucked it up and hiked in quite deep to “greater” untouched areas. We’ve taken pride in packing out our deer as well. A few years ago my buddy watched a buck cross the road 200 yards From the parking lot. I encouraged him to backtrack that buck and see why he was hanging out there. He ended up shooting this mature eight pointer The next day which was the day before Michigan’s November 15 opener. It was so close to the road it was ridiculous but it had the right elements of thick privacy for the deer and I believe the West winds on his back with the road just east of him is the exactly the same set up you’re describing. Totally amazing. Thank you again
Killer stuff. I had recently marked some bridges on my to-scout list because you can see trails going underneath them on Google Earth, a perfect funnel that allows them to parallel the river East-West. I'm gonna start looking for those 90-degree roadside spots too. Makes sense.
Awesome info from Dan and Scott. As I find myself getting to be a better and better hunter as time goes by - it’s videos like this that make it happen. I like to think I would of figured this stuff out on my own - but reality check - I’ve learned more than I realize from the Beast. Every video has so much info to be studied. Thanks Dan !!
You are spot on! I shot a nice 8pt last gun season in northern lower Michigan state land 100 yds off the road. Everyone was going way in the big woods but overlooked the thick transition area across the road. I saw 3 bucks that morning and 6 doe up till noon and zero hunters.
Nice. Every year I believe more and more that roadside is good and hearing it from you seals it for me. I'm gonna check out road corners and bridges too. I thank yall. One more thing. Those bucks in your videos, that has got to be an incredible rush when one that big shows up. I'm getting excited about deer season!!
Dan I'm a huge fan of your show. I have learned so much from you and your guys!!! Keep doing what you're doing cause your making a difference. I've been a bass fisherman for most of my life but over the past couple years the obsession to get the big buck has taken me over. I can't explain it but I love learning an all year all I can think about is getting that big buck. Keep Inspiring bud!!!
Great video!! I hunted last year 150yds off a main road where there was tons of buck sign before the season I jumped a good buck 30yds off that road and there were beds within 10yds of the road.. good cover and overlooked and those bucks aren't stupid!! Loved the hat by the way!!😊
One of the best spots I’ve found on our land is a 10 acre patch of hardwoods with two side roads around it and the expressway on the other side making a perfect funnel no one ever hunted it the deer were in it all the time noise from the thruway helps with sound and wind blowing towards the expressway where they don’t come from made for a lot of nice bucks being killed there
Recently parked on a GMA road at a small pull off. Actually was scouting across the road at an old spot. When I got back to the truck, I was surprised to see that only 10 yards behind my truck, there were over 10 scrapes and 8 rubs in a 25 yard area. Tons of doe sign and two well worn trails. Immediately left the area to not be too intrusive. Now to just figure out buck bedding and a stand set up location!
13 of my 15 biggest bucks have come from well within 1/4 mile of some sort of road. Over half of those were within long bow-range of a road. ..And I've seen and/or missed numerous others under those same circumstances. You're right on about this, Dan. Most people don't pay close enough attention upon entering the woods -especially within the first couple hundred yards. Even fewer ever turn around to set up there. Overlooked hotspots, for sure!
learned a lot from these videos. I drive by this wetland area on my commute everyday and i know that there has to be deer in there. low and be hold the biggest doe ive ever laid eyes on tried to cross the road from that swamp on my way home tonight. you better believe ill be in there this november. the swamp is along a major route in an awkward spot with no parking access and is a spot that I think a lot of people would just skip over because of that. Hiding in plain sight.
I trick I have had a lot of luck with is driving around just before hunting season and find where the deer cross . Most mornings and early evening . I would just get in the woods a few hundred yards and wait .. I have shot many deer this way . Most of the time I could almost see my vehicle . And didn't have to drag for hours
Every time I watch a new Hunting Beast video I log into OnX Maps and start looking at locations.
Seriously, the first thing I do after a video. More times than not I come up with spots I would not typically even have on the radar
Same
Lol I just keep screaming at the phone..... Dan... Stop giving away all my spots!
Litterally
I prefer hunt stand

I hope most of em stick to the pro staff idiots
The number of spots that Dan has either scouted or hunted boggles the mind.
This what I thrive to be.
He’s the HUNTIN BEAST!!
Bridge... Your contributions here are excellent. That was a great description of a corner bed and why he'd be there
Favorite hunting guy hands down🔥

Deer have a tendency to bed by the road in areas of high coyote populations but also on the fence line of private property and state property.

A road is just another transition line just a unnatural one good stuff
That's a good point 👍

Really good info!
This was a really good one
My first and only deer is a P&Y buck that was taken less than 200 yards from the road lol

Yes sir , There are BIG bucks closer to roads and access trails than you think . Find those pockets .
Shot my FROW buck 30 yards off a blind line. Had a big mature black bear come to the bait only a quarter mile off a highway.
👍

Can you sell the cool t shirts you wear?
Like number 69. You're welcome
You’d have a lot more subscribers without all those controversial shirts…
dans a respectable working class guy but loudly idolizes class traitors the poor thing
