  • NICOLE WRAY is an Artist which was signed by Missy Eliot. She begins touring with Missy and was one of her Background singers. In 1998 she released her first Album and her first Single make it hot. Both the Album and the Single achieved Gold status in the US and sold more than 500.000 unites in the US.
During the preparation for her second Album, the business side became messy. Missy started to sign more Artists and couldn't focus anymore on Nicole .
Nicole left the Label and signed with Damon Dashs (Roca Fella Records) but during that time Dash was trying to figure how the Label could survive in the Music industry. So she never released a Album under Roca Fella.
Nicole is one of the most talented RNB singers from the 90s, sadly her career never took of the way it should.
I would describe her music as a mix between Aaliyah and Mary J blinge.

Beautiful description on her vocal range. She truly was a mix of Aaliyah and Mary J. Blige. She had that insane vocal cry technique similar to her peers Lil' Mo & Meelah of 702. Best part like Aaliyah, she knew how to control her tone; maintain on a low register then let her powerful notes flood out soulfully at the right moment (e.g. "Seventeen", "All N My Grill", "Without You"). I'll always love Missy Elliott to the moon & back but I cannot stand how she let Elektra Records dictate her on certain decisions regarding Goldmind Inc. projects. They definitely let this poor woman's potential go to waste.

It was that Rhone woman who was in her head most likely no artist that worked with her ever had anything pleasant to say about her I don't like the way she allowed Kelly Rowland's albums to be promoted here I am and talk a good game were both 2 solid albums they let go to waste .

What do you mean when you say “Vocal cry”? I’ve heard a lot of people say that about Meelah voice. Can you give an a example?
